Happy Saturday y’all!! I’m still trying to get used to our ladies of medicine being on Saturday nights! We pick up where we left off last week with Simone berating Contessa for recovering from surgery. Simone screams “F*ck you Contessa!” which harkens Cecil to take Simone to the other side of the boat. Scott tries to talk to Simone, who in return screamed like a banshee at him.
All the couples in their talking heads advise Scott to let the ladies hash things out and not get involved. Heavenly comforts Contessa, then says she’s going to bring Simone over to talk. Simone comes over and tries to say she meant calling Contessa a “victim” was positive…mmkay. I concur with the group: keep Simone off of boats because some bizarre screeching being comes out when she’s on them. Suddenly it’s all resolved between the two and eat. During lunch Mariah takes the floor to address the group. She personally apologizes to Damon for accusing him of cheating. Damon accepts and forgives Mariah, and Heavenly appreciates the apology as well. Damon hugs Mariah then starts a dance-off. It’s a cute end to a rough boat ride.
The couples all head to dinner and a “marriage therapy” session as Toya puts it. Another gorgeous outdoor venue overlooking the beach…it’s stunning. Toya, Eugene, Heavenly and Damon are the first to sit and Heavenly asks Toya if anyone knows that she is hosting couples therapy. Toya hasn’t told the group yet, she’s giving Heavenly an opportunity to re-do couples therapy because as she says “who can mess it up twice?” Haha we shall see! Heavenly admits to handling it poorly last year so she’s hoping to do better this time. After dinner, the group (minus Heavenly who had excused herself to use the restroom) goes to the beach where there are chairs set up in a therapeutic-like circle and Heavenly is standing there waiting to greet them. Everyone is wary, but they sit down anyway.
Heavenly says that the biggest mistake she made last time she hosted was not allowing the others to ask her questions, so the whole session will be Heavenly taking questions from the group. Jackie starts and asks if Heavenly truly admits she’s submitting to her husband or if she just lets Damon think that? Heavenly says they submit to each other. Simone asks if there’s a disagreement about parenting, how is that handled? Heavenly cries and says that Damon is an amazing dad who spends so much time with the kids and is always there for them. It’s really sweet and a nice version of Heavenly to witness. Heavenly is very open and honest with answering the questions.
Quad gets up and asks a stunner: Did Heavenly trap Damon into marriage? They got married when Heavenly was five months pregnant, and at a reunion Andy had basically asked if Heavenly trapped Damon by getting pregnant. I don’t remember that but that’s seriously a gross question. Damon gets up and clarifies that Heavenly did not trap him, that he knew that Heavenly was the one for him so he was happy and proud to marry her. Damon’s father wasn’t around for him and he would never allow that for his children. I almost got up and cheered for him saying that and making it crystal clear that he loves his wife and family. That’s how the therapy session ends and everyone is happy with how humble and honest Heavenly was.
The next day, the doctors and spouses head to town for a food drive/free blood pressure check for the people of Antigua. They arrive at the free clinic where the doctors sit and wait for the patients. Each person that gets their blood pressure checked gets a bag of food. Eugene’s patient has a very high blood pressure and is concerned that she could have a heart attack, as she’s having chest pains along with the elevated pressure. His patient starts crying and Eugene consoles her. Eugene tells her how he’s not good taking his medicine and she agrees to start taking them regularly. Watching Eugene be so empathetic and really, watching all the doctors do their doctoring, it was awesome to see.
The group goes out for their final dinner where Cecil is dressed to the impress-button down shirt under a peach dress coat, tan fedora and all style! He and Simone are hosting the last dinner and there are tons of comfy couches on the beach for everyone to sit on. Simone and Cecil sit with Quad and Simone tells her that she’s always going to be there for her. While they discuss the divorce, a cockroach pops up and jumps on Quad takes that as a Dr. G sign. Tamara, can we take a group trip to Antigua? Aside from the roach, the water is so clear and the beaches look amazing…for research purposes only of course. Lol. Simone wants the group to take a seashell and throw it into the ocean as a symbol of letting go. Simone starts by saying that she’s throwing away the resentment of Cecil having a female best friend and it’s nice to see. Heavenly says she’s going to throw away her annoyance at Damon leaving the toilet seat up because she’s reverting back to old, guarded Heavenly.
Simone is pissed that she isn’t taking it seriously. Heavenly says she can’t think of anything but says that she’s too controlling and wants to release that. Toya wants to throw away her bad moods and negative energy. Contessa wants to rid herself of the romanticized version of marriage she has in her head and Jackie wants to release the hurt, pain and disappointment of Curtis cheating. Mariah wants to stop projecting anger on her husband, and her anger about him losing her Chanel shoes. Quad wants to release the hurt and betrayal by her husband. They all throw their collective shells into the ocean and t’s a beautiful way to end an eventful trip.
Next week: the guys hang out with Dr. G, Toya has a freakout about the house, Heavenly talks to her anger management therapist about sitting down with Mariah and Quad ponders dating again. I loved this episode and I hope y’all did too! See you next week =)
