First off, apologies are in order! I have not been able to commit to monthly posts regarding my home renovations due to a variety of reasons that have constrained my time. I won’t bore you with the details, but the good news is that I have a pretty hilarious post in the pipeline! I promise that when Survivor is off, there will be plenty more home renovation posts! If you haven’t read my comedic adventures, be sure to check those posts out. Now let’s get into the latest episode of Survivor!
Too Long Didn’t Watch
After the tumultuous expose of Angelina in the previous tribal council, we get back to camp where things are still a bit tense. Angelina admits that she got caught red-handed doing jury management and that she is now back peddling and doing damage control. No one on the entire tribe believes her whatsoever. We get a confessional from varying tribemates saying such. Angelina is fooling no one in this game. Dan says the first opportunity he gets, he’s voting Angelina out.
Mike and Christian have a pow wow on the beach to touch bases about their cross tribal alliance of 6 called The Strike Force. The Davids are Christian, Nick and Gabby while the Goliaths are Mike, Allison and Alec. Mike worries about Gabby’s commitment considering her extreme outburst at the previous tribal council. He makes the claim that if Gabby is really confident in the Strike Force, she wouldn’t be crying like a sap at tribal council about how things are still David vs Goliath. I nod my head in agreement while Christian is strangely perplexed.
Davie The Dancer
Nick, Carl and Davie end up walking around and falls upon the clue to an advantage. Davie is very excited, because he thinks he’s found the clue. They go searching, but there’s people around so Davie literally starts dancing while Nick finds the advantage! Ha! It totally works! These three guys all talk about their individual advantages and how they can team up to take out a Goliath. Combined, they have an idol nullifier, a vote stealer and a hidden immunity idol. This tribal council could be really interesting…
The Reward Challenge
The Survivors are competing for pizza this episode! It’s a classic sand bag carrying endurance competition with the twist that every 15 minutes, one tribemate must drop out and give their bag to someone else. I would suck at this challenge! It only takes one person to drop to lose it for their team. Dan is a cocky ass during the challenge and ironically ends up losing it all for his entire team! Gabby, Allison, Nick, Christian, John and Alec win a dozen pizzas! Angelina reminds us what everyone is salivating for which is for Dan to be blindsided while being arrogant. These two hate each other.
Angelina Has Deja Vu
While others are wallowing in sorrow about the loss of pizza, Mike is focusing on how he can get to the end of the game. Mike is starting to worry about his placement in the Strike Force already. He goes to Alec and worries about what happens to the Goliaths if they vote Angelina out now. All of a sudden, Mike has this novel idea that Christian is the biggest threat in the game. Didn’t Angelina already try this already? He mocks Gabby, Davie and Carl being unable to rally influence in the game in order to highlight Christian as the only true threat. Alec hears him out but feels like this is a bad move for his personal game.
Mike goes a step further and tells the entire Goliath tribe. Everyone suddenly agrees that Christian should go, and Angelina is laughing about the fact that just 5 minutes ago, she was saying the same exact thing that Mike is saying now!! While Angelina is annoyed about this, she’s taking it all in jest and has a good spirit about it. What she’s NOT happy about is that the Goliaths plan on telling Christian that it’s Angelina. She realizes what a dangerous position she’s in if the David tribe tries to pull a fast one.
The Immunity Challenge
The immunity challenge is another balancing challenge. During the challenge, Dan says that Brad Culpepper is his Survivor hero which all but confirms he’s a douchebag. After 3 minutes, half the tribe has dropped out. Mike, Alec, Angelina, Dan and Nick are left. It comes down to Dan vs Angelina. How deliciously ironic is this showdown?! Is it bad that I’m rooting for Angelina to beat Dan? It goes on for awhile longer with both of them twitching. The entire tribe is secretly rooting against Angelina and she eventually drops along with my heart!
Pre Tribal Council Scrambling
John says it sucks that they have to vote Christian out, but that it’s a better plan than actually voting Angelina out. Dan and Angelina chat in order to ease Angelina’s concerns. She’s worried that her being the David’s target could backfire if the shit hits the fan, and she’s totally right to feel this way. Dan tries to make her feel better, but then goes to his allies to say that he is ready for Angelina to leave asap. If Christian pulls an idol out, he’s choosing to not save Angelina with his own idol.
Alec gets this great idea that he needs to go to Nick and tell the truth about the Christian blindside. These idiots never learn. So Alec tells Nick, and he immediately tells Christian. Nick then gets to work on Davie to see if he can use his advantage to save Christian. No one knows about Davie’s hidden immunity idol, because Davie is one of the few smart survivors in history that has chosen to not tell a SOUL about it! He wonders if he should use it or not to save Christian. Nick also contemplates whether it’s time to bust open the advantages.
Tribal Council
We get to tribal council, and I have this sneaking suspicion that one of our villains is going home tonight. But you know what they say, when one supreme falls, another must rise, and I think Dan will be a great villain for us to root against moving forward! Elisabeth enters as the first member of the jury, and she looks super cute! The topic remains whether it is truly David vs Goliath. John admits that he’s ready to vote out a threat, and Jeff calls Christian out as potentially being a threatening player. He says it’s hard managing your threat level in the game of Survivor. He hopes the bonds he created across tribal alliances will help him in the game, and Angelina says those bonds make him an even bigger threat in the game. Everyone begins to cast their votes.
After Jeff tallies the votes, Davie gets up and plays his hidden immunity idol on Christian. Angelina looks at Dan begs him to play his idol for her. Angelina is on fire and Dan looks at her like he wouldn’t piss on her. IN THE SHOCKER OF THE SEASON, Dan plays his idol on Angelina. She doesn’t hear him and asks if he forgot to say her name to Jeff!! LOL Jeff reads off all of the votes for Christian and Angelina… except 2 are for John and he’s voted out! The Goliaths are all blindsided. Despite surviving, Angelina is probably the most upset about John leaving.
Our gentle giant, John said that tonight would be a Brochacho blindside, and he was right. He just got the wrong brochacho! I really liked what he brought to the show this season. My expectations were totally flipped. What did you all think of tonight’s episode? Was it smart for both sides to play their idols this early? Are you surprised that Dan ended up playing his idol on Angelina? Are you disappointed that The Strike Force Alliance only lasted one single episode?!?! As always, don’t forget to follow me on my social media platforms to stay in touch with me throughout the entire week: Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and Twitch!
This is one of the most fun Survivor seasons! I am really enjoying rooting for the Davids and seeing some out of the box game play. Still can not believe Dan used his Idol on Angelina. It makes no sense to me. He knew the Goliaths did not split their votes so someone from his side was bound to go. Why not Angelina?
This season has been so much fun from start to now, and I imagine it will only get better! I also agree that Dan made such a bone headed mistake by playing his idol on Angelina. If someone had to go from the Goliaths, it should have been Angelina.
NOW, Dan has lost an idol, lost arguably his strongest ally in the game and Angelina is still in the game who is frothing at the mouth to get rid of Dan.
The gag is that the Davids were one step ahead and split their votes guaranteeing that their target would go home regardless! Long story short, Dan should have saved his idol. I wouldn’t be surprised if his other idol gets nullified by Carl.
Dan playing the idol on Angelina was shockingly stupid. I don’t see the reason for it AT ALL.
Christian the mastermind was behind the eviction of John. Despite looking shocked that Davie used an idol on him, the only reason he and someone else would vote for John was because the plan was entirely worked out ahead of tribal. He took out the biggest Goliath, he’s a genius and I hope he wins.
I.AM.SO,DISAPPOINTED.IN.MIKE. Strike Force was such a great alliance. Why did Mike have to turn on Christian so early?
I love the irony of the Brochacho blindside being a HUGE blindside to all of us and not the one John was expecting. I expect Angelina to be an every bigger bitch now that her cuddle buddy is gone.
I loved that they took the clue from the merge lunch and hid it again since no one paid it any attention. That little group of three Davids is loaded for bear now. It’s almost like production planned it that way…
I agree that Dan playing the idol for Angelina was a dumb move.
Dan doesn’t trust her, Christian was his brochaho friend, and yet, he caved for Angelina?
Dan thinks he’s a good player, but he’s been making all kinds of poor decisions.
I hope Christian does better, during tribal councils, to hold back comments which make him more of a target. Although I do enjoy his take on things. He’s clearly my favorite to win.
Yeah, he tried to read Angelina and call her out for saying his relationships make him a threat, but it just confirmed what she was trying to say.
Everyone is always coming at Angelina’s neck at tribal council. It’s so funny. She’s such a good villain.
I think Mike turned on Christian because Gabby is such an emotional wreck. Had she not gone on and on about how it’s David vs Goliath at the previous tribal DESPITE HER BEING IN THE STRIKE FORCE ALLIANCE, Mike would have remained loyal. Still, Christian is not to be fucked with, and I think he has the smarts and social game to make it super deep. It’s already in motion!
Production wants a David to win. It’s destiny that a David win. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
One thing is for sure: the Davids made a brilliant move last night!
I laughed out loud with the Davids when it all went down. Couldn’t have went better for them. Flushed an idol, got rid of a big Goliath threat and walked away with the truth on which goliath can be trusted. Has been a great season so far.
Exactly Brenda. NO GOLIATH can be trusted, because they betrayed all of the Davids. And now they are loaded still with advantages that can help them turn the tide.
Angelina is still in the game who’s definitely frothing at the mouth to take Dan out I’m sure even after he saved her with his idol.
Hands down one of the best tribals…..This is a really good cast…..I love that the david’s outsmarted the goliaths last night…..
The Davids are not to be underestimated. When this season is all done and over with, every last one of them are going to wish they listened to Angelina during the first merge vote.
This season is fantastic. Every tribal is continuing to DELIVER!
thanks for the recap, Cho.
I agree that Dan makes a good villain.
I am already rooting against him.
He sure acted like a big shot during the sand bag challenge.
Too bad (NOT) that he was the cause of his team losing out on the pizza reward.
I loved the blindside, but I wish it would have been Dan going home.
My DVR cut off the ending.
Who cast the two votes for John?
3 votes for john were by Christian, Davie and I believe Carl (or maybe Nick?). They showed the 3 john votes at the very end of the episode.
Awesome season and great recaps!!
It was Christian, Davie and Nick……Carl voted for Angelina with Gabby.
Thanks so much for the comment. Dan has really rubbed me wrong ever since he claimed that Angelina isn’t allowed to speak military terms, because she’s just a wife. Pretty disgusting comment tbh.
He has always been pretty dumb and stupid, but now he’s being arrogant for no reason. It’s no mistake that Dan and Angelina are the least popular people at camp. If they had any self awareness, they’d turn their frenemy status into an actual alliance to the end! haha
I don’t see Dan as a villain. I think he is just stupid.
Fun fact some lunatic tried posting the same thing over and over about Angelina last night. Let’s just say he is very attracted to her and she might need to stick close to her military husband.
He’s very stupid. But I think he’s very arrogant too, and the viewers don’t like arrogant people. Also, that comment about Angelina not being able to talk about military terms still stings.
Omg Angelina sure does attract the crazies I guess!! haha
Tribal was epic! I am really enjoying this season and am totally team David. My favorites are Christian and Nickand cannot stand Angelina. Great recaps Cho! Thank you for doing this for us.
Thank YOU Navy Mommy! I’m glad you are enjoying the recaps. I actually enjoy Christian so much as well. I’m loving Angelina as the villain of the season. She’ll probably get redemption when she is finally voted out OR she’ll go out in a blaze of villainy. lol
This Season has been GREAT! I’m not a big fan of all the “Advantages” crap, but am loving them this time around for some reason.
I think Dan used his idol on Angelina just cuz Davie used one and he’s a dick like that.
Isn’t it weird that Christian didn’t clue Gabby in to the John vote? Or Davie telling Carl?
Or did they?
My hub had John from opening beach scene and we’d grown to like him. (He’s now got Carl) but even so, we agree John was a brilliant pick! Were we the only ones totally blindsided?
Thanks for the comment, Aud!
I’m loving this season so much. Dan is just a dick like that is correct. I think he thought he was making the right move, but it was based on impulse and Angelina BEGGING for her life even though it was never in danger. I think the Davids all worked together to blindside the Goliaths. We’ll see them fall apart next episode, especially with all the advantages the Davids still have.
I loved John so much. He was a gentle giant. Very kind and surprisingly had a good social game. Just not good enough.
This episode had it all! Dan taunting the other team then dropping the sandbag, I almost peed myself from laughing. Pizza for the winners. Angelina trying to cover her ass and everyone knowing she is full of it. John saying it would be a brochacho blindside, never thinking for a second it would be his torch snuaffed. Alec making sure his strike force bro had a chance to save himself. Davie playing the idol correctly, and Dan wasting an idol on Ang. Those Goliaths think they are on top of the game and the Davids are smart enough to split the votes! Oh so satisfying, even though we lost John which is a bummer. The real shocker to me? Gabby didn’t cry! Didn’t see that coming lol. Now the teams are even and Dan, Ang and Mike all have targets on their backs. This is the best season since Cagayan! Great recap Cho, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! Your comment is SPOT ON! All of those moments were so delicious. It was hilarious seeing all the confessionals of people saying how full of shit Angelina was. LOL And Dan is making more of an ass of himself after every vote. He’s so insecure and has no idea how to handle the target on his back or people daring to go against him. Watch him implode next week.
and Gabby didn’t’ cry! MIRACLE!
