Housewives In Malibu Are Evacuating Due To Fires

November 9, 2018 by tamaratattles 75 Comments

UPDATE: James Woods is doing a fabulous job coordinating thing son Twitter. Sadly Eileen’s house is completely gone.

There are some massive fires in California again that have several housewives fleeing for their lives. Pretty much all of Malibu is evacuating now.

Denise Richards posted “We love our community #malibu so devastating… taking us hours to evacuate. Girls are safe. @aaronwilliamcameron & I trying to get out with our furry children. Be safe everyone… so emotional seeing the devastating loss of homes, families & animals.”

Eileen Davidson is also in the middle of the evacuation traffic jam. I believe Teddi is evacuating as well.

Eileen evacuating Malibu

It’s been a really rough week for California.  Hope all of you there are safe.

Main house is ok as you say. The lower house is used by production (Except one recent season) so filming should not be issue. Sure that means trailers for crew now 😂

There’s one road into and out of Malibu, unless you use the canyons. This is going to be a hard row. Shes not a housewife, but Caitlyn Jenners house burned to the ground. She and her girlfriend are safe.,

Entire cities are being evacuated. Thousand Oaks (75% of that city), Malibu, Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills, The Oaks. Calabasas, and Westlake Village 95.000 ordered evacuated in Ventura County, parts of Griffith Park including the Zoo. The air quality is awful. In Northern California that fire near Chico an entire city (Paradise) is gone. People have died in cars trying to escape. It’s like an Apocalypse, There is no containment. I wanted to write in case you have family or friends that you may want to check on.

I’m from Paradise, went to 3 years of high school there and it’s where my boys learned to tie fishing knots. The boys are upset, especially my youngest, his memories of the covered bridge, the breakfast cafe!s and fishing holes seem to be vivid. Grandpas house is gone.
There’s are 2 lane back road and a wider road that goes down to 2 lanes on the ridge. Told both roads had abandoned cars that were bulldozed.
People were woken to their house on fire, left in pj’s.
A good friend’ daughter in Ventura picked up her two oldest from school yesterday and wasn’t allowed home, went to hotel. Her husband with their youngest after work same story but he is north of her, staying with friends.

These fires are burning incredibly fast, Paradise has a elderly population, I fear the death toll will rise. Napa and Big Sur a few years ago, new this. Cal Fire is incredible, one of the largest fire depts in the country with DC-10’s but they are overwhelmed.

Oh, CaliPatti, I am so sorry to hear that. What a tragedy for everyone involved. I cannot imagine the rage and speed of such a destructive fire. I saw the one In Prescott, AZ several years ago from 50 miles away. It lit up the sky and killed over a dozen seasoned firefighters.

FYI – photo credit to Grant Denham for that amazing pic above. Of course, it’s been a bit colorized, but still stunning.

The people and animals are safe but … My ex in Paradise lost his little house. His mom on one side and godmother on the other side — GOnE. Mom’s was Martha Stewart county style house. The other was a masterpiece of wood, glass, stone, with an authentic Pony Express sleep cabin. Lots of land, a pond… He took his mom to Oregon days before; she has worried about this for years. And that wonderful nursery (Mindon’s) so sad.

I sent TT photos but not sure she can share them, the covered bridge is gone.
If I think about it – the fires rapid speed is not surprising. There were a few subdivisions where pines were cleared out but mostly the home and town sat in and under the pines. Not many people cleared the 200’ perimeter around their homes, that would had meant removing trees and that wasn’t a option to most.
The Big Sur Fire here 2 years ago proved that if your perimeter was cleared and no stuff around your house, your home could be saved. That was the difference here. Sorry to read about others losses. I’m still concerned about those who had so little to start with.
The photos show complete devastation, high school, all the old gold mining artifacts, all senior centers and residental homes. Heard the hospitable is gone but I can’t undersrsnd that concrete building gone.

I know now is not the time for should haves. I hope the individuals and the government owned park’s system will consider clearing out the dead trees and debris each year. There are so many tree farms where I am. Each year the farmers clear and burn their dead trees and debris. We never have huge forest fires. To be fair we don’t have 60 mph Santa Ana winds either.
I read the hospital in Paradise burned down, too. In most of the Ca. stories they have posted a video of a couple driving out with fire on both sides of them. After about a minute, the woman starts praying. I believe in prayer and am praying for you all.

A year later after losing so much here in Northern California, (friends and families losing homes), we are smoked out from a fire over 80 miles away. It brings back the dread and anxiety and survivors guilt that goes with it. On top of that, my daughter calls from college this morning to work through her angst about the bar shooting. I don’t watch news now (due to the politics all around) but wanted to turn it on due the fires. We talk all the time about moving from CA-five generations in the same area. I want it to be something we move to, not away from. Glad I can still come here to this blog to escape! Thanks.

I’ve been obsessed with the news all day. It’s so scary and said. I could be wrong because I’m not familiar with the area but it looks to me like the same neighborhood where the shooting happened is impacted by the fires as well. It’s just too much.

I made a donation last night to the North Valley Community Foundation

              https://www.nvcf.org/

Lisa and Kyle posted links for purchasing diapers and such for babies directly from the Target site. I don’t have that link, and I feel like with the HW covering it they will get lots of hits.

This is for the people of Paradise who literally lost THEIR ENTIRE TOWN.

Yes, the Borderline Bar & Grill is within the active fire perimeter where these Woolsey and Hill fires have been burning. I work 5 miles away from the area (but commute an hour each way to get there). We spent all Thursday morning making sure our employees and family weren’t killed or wounded and were accounted for. Then we spent all day Friday and Saturday accounting for employees trying to find out again if everyone is okay. There may be people who lost family at the bar and may have lost their homes, too.

We are not out of the woods. Dry Santa Ana winds expected to return today bringing dry heat to resume fire conditions. So many people are still in danger with more bad news reported from Paradise. The are people at Zuma Beach sleeping in their cars and have had no access but AT&T and Verizon are coming with charging stations and free chargers for people who need them. Kroger is on their way with trucks of food and they are also donating pet food. Stanley that big Giraffe is still out there somewhere because he was left by his owners. He is a well-known figure down there. I hope he is ok. Khloe K. Blessing to all of our firefighters and first responders you are our hero’s.

The winery owners say that they had a giraffe expert up there in case they had to evacuate before they were told to evacuate. They say Stanley was moved safely. They said most animals are safe but a few are unaccounted for. The photos of Stanley with smoke and fire don’t look Photoshopped to me, but using a telephoto can forshorten the background. There are people who claim the owners are lying. I hope not.

I live in one of the areas that was under mandatory evacuation orders. We got called by emergency services late at night, and we cleared out in about 15 minutes. I opened the front door and could see orange sky behind my neighbor’s house, and I yelled to my husband to wake the fuck up, this is for real! We were really lucky – the fire came less than half a mile from our house (one neighbor estimated 2000 feet), but we returned the next day. The air quality where I live is improving, but it is sickening to look south toward Malibu and see huge clouds of smoke.

The Santa Ana winds are no joke – I get nervous every fall when they start up. Last year, one of my employees was evacuated from her home in Montecito, first for the fires, then the mudslides. These disasters are terrifying. After the Thomas fire last year, I packed a bug out bag and gathered our documents and photo albums in an easily accessible spot. Hubs made fun of me when I did that, but it ended up saving me a lot of time a few nights ago.

I still have several friends who are displaced. So far, none have lost their homes, but this fire isn’t over yet.

So glad you are safe, Clever One. Try to stay inside out of the bad air as much as possible!

It’s hard to feel sorry for stars with so much money to rebuild and access to resources and money in the meantime. There are many here sleeping in cars. Lots of elderly and people with pets. Today the fire is only 10% contained and the number of cities effected is far more vast then Malibu.
Some of the same people affected by the Thousand Oaks mass shooting are days later affected by the fire. Seeing our community rally around them is the only silver lining.
The smoke and ash is so bad that you can’t go outside long and it has covered the sun. It’s a hard time here.

My heart goes out to all affected by the fires.
When I was out there a few years ago there were bad fires just north of the Thousand Oaks area.
I did not realize how much the tide plays into the night winds whooshing back into the hills from the ocean
on turbo speed. It’s hard enough to fight the fires during the at, but at night, with zero visibility, dry dessert foliage on mountains? Fire Fighters can not physically walk in that terrain lugging fire hoses, and equipment. I don’t think people realize how incredibly difficult it is to detain those fires.
Plus, the traffic, on good day is next to impossible, let alone, trying to flee for your life, with
your loved ones, with ash falling all around, and fires on both sides of the vehicle?
Oh, my gosh, I hope there is relief in sight very soon.

      Just read a tweet from

      Eileen Davidson
      ✔ @eileen_davidson

After living for 24 hours thinking we lost our house completely we found out yesterday that we only lost the yard around our house. Sweating it out for the next 48 hours and praying for everybody involved in this devastating and horrific fire. Love to all of you. ❤️ #woolseyfires

Sadly, Camille Grammer & Gerard Butler lost their Malibu homes.

      Heartbreaking for all involved.

Eileen just posted on Instagram a few hours ago that her home was safe. It was a very close call. Lots of misinformation out there, I guess.
