You know what it is. THE MERGE! There’s no time to spare, let’s get right to it. If you didn’t see my pre merge analysis, go back and read to see if my predictions ring true!
Too Long Didn’t Watch
The Merge Feast
We waste no time whatsoever getting right into the merge. Everyone is brought over to the Tiva beach, because they obviously have the most comfortable camp. The merge feast looks really terrific and makes my dinner look really pale by comparison. Carl says he wants to find new allies outside of David. Carl is drunk out of his mind and spewing some hatred towards Elizabeth. He’s telling any Goliath with two ears that he wants her out first, because she’s bossy and annoying. John is planning to to stick to Goliath strong. Meanwhile, Gabby is being hyper paranoid per usual. This time, instead of socializing with others, she’s hyper focused on finding a nonexistent idol clue. No wonder people don’t want to align with her.
Carl let’s it spill that Alec voted against Natalia. This worries the other Goliaths. Angelina lets us know that she’s Goliath strong and she’s super worried about Alec due to his careless & emotional betrayal. They discuss how both Natalie and Natalia were bossy bitches. They aren’t wrong.
Cracks In The Goliath Armor
Dan and Kara are finally reunited as the core of the Goliath tribe. Cheesy piano music starts playing in the background, and I almost lose my dinner. He immediately tells her about his second idol despite admitting that he was going to keep it to himself only. What an idiot. Kara gloats about how Goliath has two idols, the majority and they can’t be stopped. This means they will probably be stopped immediately in this episode. As she celebrates with Angelina, Dan and John, the Goliath turncoat extraordinaire, Alec, walks up to ruin the party. Alec privately admits they’re stupid to think he’s totally with them. Angelina says in a confessional that she’s only going to ride the wave while it’s strong and jump ship when it suits her. Watching the Goliath tribe destroy themselves in the post-merge should be fun to watch.
Speaking of turncoat Goliaths, Mike spearheads a a cross-tribal alliance that will survive the initial slaughtering. He brings in Alec and Allison who both have previously expressed their desire to flip. Alec goes to Gabby and Christian to pull them in. Mike already has Nick which makes this a 6-person alliance. They plan on taking out a few Davids first to keep up appearances before blindsiding the core Goliath alliance of Angelina/John/Dan/Kara. Alec is really aggressive about spearheading this alliance.
Elizabeth Targets Dan
Elizabeth is worried about the Kara and Dan alliance so she tries to make a big move to keep the Davids together. She approaches Alec, because he flipped already on them. They talk about it and agree they are a force that needs to be split up. Alec, wanting to keep playing double agent, tells the power couple which leads Dan to freak out. He yells to them: “why not John instead of me?!” Kara is embarrassed by his childish temper tantrum as he storms off to sulk. How DARE Elizabeth play the game against Dan?! Well, you idiot, it’s because everyone knows you’re in a power couple alliance and have at least one idol! Don’t blame John. He’s kept his showmance with Angelina pretty secret. Or has he? Dan takes it really personally and vows to make sure Elizabeth goes home.
The Immunity Challenge
The immunity necklace looks really cute actually! This challenge involves them swinging a pendulum around an idol with the hopes of never knocking it off. This could end REALLY quickly. Wow what a unique challenge! There is so much clanging, and I can’t help but laugh and gasp at the same time!! They’re at the point where they have to switch hands: Davie, Angelina, John and Alec can’t make the transition leaving Allison, Dan and Elizabeth. Dan is whispering affirmations to himself, but it doesn’t help. If Elizabeth wins, the entire Goliath tribe will be pissed. Luckily for them, Allison wins the first immunity and is in tears. She’s excited that her parents and family will be proud of her.
When Two Egomaniacs Goliaths Collide
Right after immunity, the ENTIRE Goliath tribe arrogantly goes off to talk about who to vote off. Gabby pouts like a brat and says this is on theme for the Goliaths. While it was supposed to be Elizabeth first, Angelina is saying that she’s only a medium threat and would rather take out someone like Christian first. She says Elizabeth doesn’t have any social graces or allies, but Christian is someone that will beat them all. She says Christian is a Goliath in his own right, and she wants to slay him now. As a viewer, you have to admit that she’s 100% right about wanting to take Christian out, but she is so overconfident in her delivery and confessional.
The other Goliaths are obviously torn about Angelina’s plot. Dan and John have trouble accepting this plan, because Christian is a “Brochacho” and they have an emotional attachment to him. Dan then goes on to say that he’s offended by Angelina’s use of military terms, because her husband is in the military, not her. Ok, Dan is officially an asshole, and I’m so ready for him to be blindsided with two idols in his pocket. As for the other Goliaths: Allison, Alec and Mike are aligned with Christian, so we don’t hear them supporting Angelina’s idea either. It’s pretty safe to say Christian is NOT going anywhere anytime soon due to his amazing social game. Alec and Allison talk about Angelina’s pitch to take Christian out. He calls Angelina a master manipulator. Alec and Allison convince John/Dan that they need to change the plan BACK to Elizabeth over Christian.
Dan is being super pissy and says Angelina is not the queen bee that gets to make decisions. John and Dan tell Angelina the plan has changed, and Dan is an asshole about it. Angelina says she’s fine, but then starts to complain about how condescending Dan is. She takes things to a whole new level when she says she “doesn’t even feel safe at home anymore”. Angelina and Dan are both livid with each other, and I’m surprisingly team Angelina. She’s right, they do need to vote Christian out. This episode highlights the fact that Dan & Angelina are both SO used to getting everything their way in real life.
Angelina Hangs Herself?
Angelina cries by herself as Elizabeth walks up to chat with her. She lets her know that the plan was to vote someone else, but that the Goliaths all outvoted her and changed it onto Elizabeth. WHAT IS ANGELINA DOING?! GAME SUICIDE! There was literally no reason for Angelina to do this unless she was trying to flip Elizabeth on her side. I guess she wants her jury vote? This is just horrible gameplay. Elizabeth walks away in tears really upset about the news. She tells the other Davids about what Angelina says, and Gabby says they should just rat Angelina out and blow her entire game up at tribal council. Angelina whispers to herself “I got this.”, and the show cuts to black before heading to commercial. The editing is so good this season!
The messiness starts when Elizabeth exposes Angelina. Allison and Dan call Angelina out on trying to manage the jury way too early. Angelina gets caught in all of her lies. Gabby EXPLODES into cries while defending Elizabeth! She is so fucking exhausting to me. She whines about how the davids have had it so rough, and Angelina reminds her that she was on Jabeni where she also had it really rough. Angelina is also getting emotional now that she realizes the the shithole she placed herself in. She tries to spin everything, but Elizabeth and Gabby are giving her the business, honey! The Goliaths are all whispering while Angelina continues to swear loyalty to the Goliaths. She says she’s excited to go write Elizabeth’s name down and is ready to vote. She’s probably toast. Jeff reads the votes. Elizabeth is voted out unanimously.
Whew, the DRAMA! I am so tired after watching! I’m going to have to watch this episode again to see all the moving parts. What were your thoughts? Is Dan an asshole? Will Angelina be able to talk her way out of her multitude of lies? Will Goliath finally implode next week?
