Kenya Moore Owes The IRS Over $150,000!

November 8, 2018 by tamaratattles 54 Comments

I really thought Kenya Moore was smarter than this. She’s always been so level-headed with her finances.

Now she has joined the list of irresponsible Real Housewives.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, “Moore was hit with a federal tax lien in Georgia on October 12 over unpaid taxes for the year 2016. The IRS says the reality star owes a total of $152,678.36 for the year.”

The lien is on Moore Manor which means if she sells the house the IRS has first dibs on the purchase amount.

Kenya at Nene’s white party

I’m totally shocked by this news. I never understand people who don’t file their taxes. I have to pay quarterly and I am nervous for about a week each time worried that maybe it didn’t go through. I even accidentally overpaid last time.

I hope that once Kenya recovers from her c-section, she is able to straighten this out. I’m actually quite worried about Kenya. She hasn’t been on social media in two days. I hope she is just enjoying time with the baby and not having health complications.

I’m not sure if you’re saying that in a good or bad way. Based on the subject matter of the post, I’m gonna guess that you’re saying TT is against Kenya. Kenya may not be my fave, but I will go to bat for TT and say she is not out to get Kenya at all. She’s team Kenya. TT has even been accused of being Kenya in the past. She doesn’t have a hard on to take her down.

Where are the receipts though? There are so many lies when it comes to news regarding Kenya. If I don’t see proof, I’ll just assume Nene planted this bullshit story. She’s definitely back to her old sabatage campaign again but more people are onto her this time.

Tamara you are the queen of receipts and you have NEVER depended on someone’s word when there are receipts to be had. If someone went to the trouble to look that info up they would at least take a screenshot. I’ll wait on those receipts.

You don’t have to wait on the receipts. They don’t play in Georgia and are real quick about placing liens on property.

TT why don’t you check into this story yourself please because two years ago, the same news circulated but at that time the amount was $5K and some change. Then, I read that the tax was owed by the FORMER OWNER of that property that Kenya tore down to build her Manor.

It’s been Kenya, Kenya, Kenya news, (good news that is) all over the place and suddenly this tax lien thing resurfaces again. When Kenya was still an RHOA cast member, her Instagram posts used to get anywhere from 100 to 400 comment but when she ‘parted’ ways with Bravo, and with her pregnancy the Comments have sky rocketed to the thousands everytime.. I’m sure that there are people whose heads are exploding because she did not disappear from the radar and would not wait to bring her down a notch.

The other story you are talking about was for property taxes. It was when she purchased her house. Since she paid cash there was no escrow account and the first tax bill went to the prior owners. I reported that here somewhere.

I have no reason not to believe The Blast. They are a break off of TMZ and are in my experience fairly accurate. I mean we all get it wrong sometimes, even me GASP! but they do pretty good reporting over there,

Perhaps she didn’t pay it off. I doubt she would have paid off Marc’s taxes. NOW IT MAKES SENSE the taxes weren’t paid by Marc and now that they are married the lien is on her house. I still doubt that it is for 2016 though. It seems fast anywhere.

Interesting theory but didn’t she say he owned property and a restaurant in New York City?

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the IRS to file a lien against him and his properties in the State of New York, rather than filing against her in the State of Georgia if he is the one owing the taxes?

Everyone will owe the irs at some point, the only difference between Kenya and the normal taxpayer is the public looking for dirt. At that amount they are required to file a lein to protect their interests even if payment arrangements are in place.

I wouldn’t say it was completely a black and white situation.

The hubs and I got a tax bill a couple of months ago from the IRS for almost $100K from 2011 and we had to spend hours on the phone with the IRS and our tax attorney straightening out the mess.

Evidently Trump did something so now the IRS can go back years and hit you with fines and penalties.

    YMMV.

She’s hard headed that Kenya Moore Daly, I just saw a video of her riding durrrty in Target looking for a few things for Princess Brooklyn while she was with her Aunt Lisa. Doesn’t matter when 2017 was due, you and I both know that the IRS makes numerous attempts to settle matters with her BEFORE placing a lien on a home. She clearly ignored the notices and/or didn’t have a plan for the 152k owed from 2016. Yet some think 2017 is up to date? That’s funny.

It seems odd to me that there is already a lien on her property for 2016. That’s awfully fast work for a government agency,

I have no desire to argue 2017 taxes with you because we have no information on that,

My crappy tax attorney did not make me aware that they had gone past the state tax deadline before sending me my completed returns. I ended up having to pay a fine because the state date was before the federal date despite paying taxes as soon as my forms were emailed to me.

I agree this does seem out of character for Kenya.

I think the issue for some is the hypocrisy. Kenya called out Kim Fields for tax issues. All the “She Don’t Pay” comments about Sheree, not that Kenya was wrong about Sheree at all. A $150,000 tax lien is not an oversight. It sounds like the IRS got her 1099 for her earnings for 2016 from the Bravo Production company and Kenya failed to pay the self-employment and other taxes on those earnings. I would imagine she easily was making over $500,000 that year. Supposedly she was paying off tax liens owed to the State of New York on Marc’s restaurant and co-op in 2017. So another example of living beyond your means.

Chances are if she hasn’t paid 2016 she hasn’t paid 2017 either. I really don’t understand how people don’t pay their taxes. A person in my family hid unpaid taxes from his wife for 4 years!!! She found out when the lien came on the home that was eventually sold and closed on the same day the divorce was finalized. I was one of those thought Kenya was the smart one. It seems like it’s a prerequisite so have money issues to get on a show.

There’s no particularly good spin here for Kenya. The IRS sends you A LOT of mail when they think you owe them money.

    – The best spin. She disputes that she owes the $150,000 and plans on fighting it. Most accountants would advise you to pay the $150,000 and get it back when you prevail in litigation. This avoids penalties and interest racking up. But, if you don’t happen to have the $150,000 handy, a tax lien isn’t the worse thing in the world. Except for your credit score…..

    – Second best spin. She was getting all of these notices during a high risk pregnancy and she just ignored them. This should get her attention, she’ll satisfy the lien and move on.

Neither is an especially good look, but people saying that “She didn’t pay her taxes” are purely speculating. What you can say is that she didn’t pay as much as the IRS thinks she owes. Seems way more likely to me. I mean, don’t these ladies have decent income? $150,000 in taxes isn’t very much.

(Btw, in response to the poster above, 2017 taxes were due on October 15 if you filed an extension, which pretty much everyone does.)

You can’t accumulate that much property taxes in one year for a home valued ess than 2 million. It’s probably back taxes from the previous owner that rolled over to the new owner. Especially if Kenya secured a property that was a tax foreclosure. This may be the case as the home was partially there when she purchased but not finished. Typically this would surface in a title search. Unless she did not buy the conventional way in which it may not have surfaced until now.

This is an IRS TAX LIEN not a property tax. There was previously a situation with the property taxes because she did not receive the bill after having just purchasing the house in cash. Some idiot posted that her house was going to be sold for property taxes. It was false. She paid as soon as she was notified.
