Survivor 37: Aren’t Brochachos Just Adorable?

November 1, 2018 by tamaratattles 20 Comments

By Survivor Guest Correspondent Cho

Hey everyone! It’s a bit chilly and wet on Halloween this year, but luckily, I have a jacket. I’m sure all the kids trick-or-treating have jackets too. You know who doesn’t have a jacket? Angelina. She definitely doesn’t have a jacket after last episode’s fiasco. If Angelina and John were able to still cuddle at night, #JacketGate would have never happened, but I digress. Let’s see if this episode is just as dramatic as the last!

Too Long Didn’t Watch

It’s revealed that Angelina’s vote against Lyrsa was one big plot to just get Natalie’s jacket. They show Angelina as a con woman reveling in her pettiness. Lyrsa is happy to have survived the vote and feels like a cat with 9 lives! Lyrsa says that Angelina is mean, petty and untrustworthy for her scheming on the last episode. Angelina laughs about how part in #JacketGate, but Mike, Lyrsa and Nick see her as a “sketchball”. Nick feels like if they go to tribal council again, they have a pathway to get Angelina out now. On Tiva, Christian is having some trouble catching fish. Nothing to really see here.

The Reward Challenge

Another shocker when everyone finds out that Natalie was voted out the previous night. Mike tells us that he got dirty looks from old Goliath members so now he’s hesitant about voting out Angelina for fear of having a target on his back come merge. They’re playing for basically a huge BBQ. Kara and Allison sit out for their perspective tribes. I wonder if this gives them a chance to chat or if they are on separate benches. The tribes are tied to a big bag of coconuts that they have to get through a course. Jabeni is literally doing the worst job ever at this challenge. Tiva the super tribe ends up winning Reward while Vuku allows Jabeni to come back from way behind.

The Brochachos

Tiva is enjoying the huge BBQ reward that they got. Dan is happy that they’ve won by yet another landslide, but laments about missing Kara a lot. He then brags about how he’s indoctrinated Christian into the Brochachos alliances. Christian literally feeds John with his hands. Christian lets us know that he’s always wanted to be a “cool guy” and that he is terribly afraid of being ostracized. He feels like he’s become a Goliath from his lifetime of being a David.

As John teaches Christian how to moonwalk, Gabby finally takes Allison aside to talk about their options. 1 minute into talking to Allison, Gabby breaks into complete tears! Allison says she’s extremely empathetic due to her doctoral background and wants to alleviate Gabby’s pain. She lets us know that she Christian and Gabby are cut from the same cloth and identifies Dan as one of the biggest threats in the game. It’s now becoming a question of how soon should she blindside Dan.

Elisabeth Is A Wuss

On Vuku, Elisabeth is super cranky, because her back hurts from the bamboo and lack of sleep. I’m pretty sure this issue is not unique to just her, but let’s let her have her moment. She alludes to a pregame back injury that is worsening due to the shelter. She’s mad that no one has split the bamboo, so she takes it upon herself to start splitting it with Kara by her side. The boys all look super annoyed. Davie tells us it’s not a half-day project but a whole day project. Carl chimes in and says the girls shouldn’t have started the project late in the day. Elisabeth’s irritation can’t be contained. She goes out of her way to make a huge fucking scene by dragging bamboo all throughout the camp. She gets emotional and lets everyone know that she’s in constant pain and she’s tired of being patient waiting for the bed to get fixed. As she argues with Carl and Davie while Kara sits in a confessional and figuratively eats popcorn!!

The Immunity Challenge

Survivors have to fill a saucer with water and carry it through an obstacle course then solve a puzzle at the end. Gabby and Elisabeth sit out for their tribes, and I still wonder if they are sitting directly next to each other or not. The tribes are really struggling to keep water in their saucers. Every tribe except Tiva of course who gets their puzzle pieces on the first try! Allison and Christian clenches an easy victory. Also, Gabby and Elisabeth are on separate benches. Jabeni is close to quitting. This is a pitiful challenge for Jabeni. They drop their saucer several times losing water and Vuku takes their time finishing the puzzle. Jeff gives them a pep talk that brings Mike to tears. He admits to us that he’s gotten to know his tribemates really well and doesn’t feel good about dashing one of their dreams.

Pre-Tribal Scrambling

Mike reminds us that this could be a monumental vote for the rest of the game since it’s even for both Goliaths and Davids now. Lyrsa can’t believe that Angelina thinks for a second that she’d ever want to work with her after #JacketGate. Lyrsa admits that she’s sticking with Nick, and Angelina is not happy. Lyrsa says no matter what happens, Angelina is not getting her jacket, but she might offer her a holey sock!

While Lyrsa works on Mike, Angelina is going hard in the paint for Nick to turn on Lyrsa. Both Nick and Mike tell the girls exactly what they want to hear, but we all know Mike and Nick are the real power couple on this tribe. Obviously, the Rockstar alliance will be deciding which of these two ladies go home. Mike doesn’t trust Angelina but is afraid of the other Goliaths being mad at him if he betrays yet another tribe member. On the flip side, he identifies Angelina as a big threat that can’t be trusted long term, because she’s so strategic. We literally see a scene of Angelina “sleeping with one eye open”. The edit is setting up this big tension between Mike and the Goliaths post-merge, so Angelina is probably toast I think. She may be able to talk her way out of police tickets, but can she talk her way out of being voted out tonight?

Tribal Council

Jeff notes on how well this tribe has bonded over the last several days and how tough it must be for them. Mikes says the criteria is who do we trust in the next part of the game. The assumptions about the merge is determining everyone’s decision tonight. Angelina says that when they voted Natalie out the tribal council previous, there was a plan for the future and hopefully everyone sticks to the plan. Nick says he’s loyal and not thinking tribal lines at this point. Angelina jumps in to defend Nick’s honor in the game, and Lyrsa argues that Angelina is just trying to buy his vote with flattery! Lyrsa and Angelina obviously vote against one another, but we don’t see how the boys vote. After some dramatic flute playing (don’t you love the music in Survivor?) Jeff reveals the vote. And in a 3-1 vote, Lyrsa is voted out! Wow, I’m honestly surprised! And no, Lyrsa didn’t give Angelina her holey socks. Is #JacketGate finally over?!

Final Words: Lyrsa says they got her good and is pissed at Nick for being a flip flopper, but is more upset that she has to go hang out with Natalie in Ponderosa. I literally laughed out loud.

Next episode is the merge which I’m definitely looking for. It’s usually the biggest turning point in the game and is chock full of drama! As a reminder, I will be coming out with an additional post discussing my top takeaways from this episode and/or post-show interviews, so be sure to leave me comments below on your thoughts! I wonder if Jon and Dan will stay loyal to Christian. I don’t think Dan will. Was it Angelina that talked about getting Christian out? I hope he survives! I can’t wait to see how next week plays out.

I’m not so sure. I think they sort of view him as expendable. Like, I don’t think they want to take him deep in the game. We know Dan is all googly eyes over Kara so it really depends. With Angelina trying to take the reigns, I feel like she’ll get herself in more trouble than good…

Angelina and the jacket thing is just so pathetic that I almost feel bad for her. She must have been a recruit who never actually watched the show and had no idea how to dress.

I would pay big to have seen the ponderosa experience with Lyra and Natalie! Why can’t they show all the exit experiences, or at least more than just the jury?

Ready for the merge, I feel like I don’t know half the people left.

There’s so many epic Ponderosa showdowns that we could see:

      Jeremy vs Natalie
      Natalia vs Natalie
      Lyrsa vs Natalie

What’s the common denominator here? LOL

Lyrsa blew it by being too honest with Angelina. Too bad Angelina is still there, but I have no warm tissues for Lyrsa, just dislike Angelina more.

Christian is loving being with the bros.. Nice for him but back in real life I hope he doesn’t think that is actually a good thing. I like Gabby and she is really a great competitor.

As for Goliaths or Davids.. Hey, soon this will go to individual immunity..

    Thanks for recapoing, Cho!

I am watching on demand because my DVR had gone bad. Different cable problems every day this week with finally a tech replacing everything. So new dvr, New Wi-Fi setup, even a new remote..

Catching up on shows I missed.

feelings? Whatever it was, wasn’t tissues.. See Canada’s (that is Tamara’s) post where this is stated more ckearky. Not mourning Lyrsa, just wanted Angelina to go.

Angelina is making for a great villain that isn’t exactly over the top like Natalie but still good. I think she’s good for the game. She will get what she deserves soon enough. You just know she’s going to be blindsided in epic fashion. It’ll be dramatic I’m sure, because everything she touches is dramatic.

I hope your DVR gets corrected before the MERGE episode. It’s gonna be a good one I think.

DVR replaced and better in all says except that the display is blue, which is pretty much impossible to read across the room. There goes my default clock!

But it works! I think I have caught up on all the shows I missed , including this episode.

Nick and Mike were fools to keep Angelina in the game, especially since they figured the merge was coming next. She will slit their throats immediately. I hate the edit they are giving Gabby, can we get through one episode without a nervous breakdown? I loved the immunity challenge! It didn’t come down to the puzzle for once. Sad that Elizabeth went off publicly. I understand pain but bitch in the private interview. What she did put a target on her back. Loving this season, it’s almost as good as the last season of Australian Survivor. Great recap Cho, I look forward to your next post.

This is one of those episodes where the only reason I was pissed Lyrssa went home wasn’t because I liked her so much, it was because THEY NEEDED TO TAKE OUT ANGELINA! They all know she is a backstabbing bitch.

      WTF?

Yeah, I didn’t feel that much for Lyrsa, but I think everyone feels a lot of FEELINGS about Angelina at this point. She is definitely a dangerous player!

I have to watch the other Survivors. I hear they’re actually really really good, even better than the US version! How do you watch them? Are they on youtube or some other website?

I also don’t like seeing Gabby having a mental breakdown every episode, but I think the fact is that she IS having a mental breakdown every other day. She’s definitely wearing on me tbh, but she’s such a good competitor with a great heart. Her alliance with Allison is definitely going to play a role during the merge.

Angelina will without doubt end her own game eventually, because her backstabbing sneaky ways are exposed. It’s like when you declaw a cat and the cat tries to scratch you. You’re just not bothered.

Thank you, thank you, Cho! What would we do without your 411? Missed the whole thing last night. Grandchildren everywhere (little monsters . . . . lol). One actually lost his first tooth! We couldn’t find it at first. It was stuck inside a gummy bear that is now drying on my daughter’s window sill. She wants this first tooth preserved inside the candy! Is that even possible? What a night!

Omg that sounds like a hoot and a half! LOL How many grandchildren to do you have?

I’ve never heard of preserving a gummy bear, but I feel like it’s possible. I think those things literally last forever except for in the heat. That’s actually a really cute idea. haha

I think production chooses what you get to keep. It’s actually an interesting situation, because they can really choose some Survivors to handicap with their choices of clothing.

I think what they pack and what they are a!lowed to keep on the island are two different things… Same with Big Brother.
