Last week was so weird when they randomly didn’t air an episode. Now They are running a big midseason sort of trailer pushing THE FINAL EPISODES OF THE SEASON where the shit all hit the fan with Jenni and Jeff. So it seems like the did it to build up all of the drama to me.
Then tonight my episode started three minutes late where Jenni and Jeff are still dealing with the Valley View producers. The program description mentions personal changes. I can’t even remember if the other “project manager” who is not Frankie was demoted or still has a job. The show hasn’t been on for two weeks and it comes on hours after wine time starts.
Let’s get on to the real drama. Oh wait. It sounds like they fired the other guy and want to train Frankie in some sort of 90 Day Project Manager Rehabilitation Program.
Jeff and his remodeling partner Julie seem to be at odds about what is going on with their projects. Julie is paying a lot of money to invest with Jeff and doesn’t seem to know what is going on. Jeff doesn’t like Julie wanting to be hands on with the investment.
Jeff’s grandma is in assisted living and beating up the nurses. It’s a family trait.
I do not understand changing a Mediterranean styled home AT ALL. But Jeff finally finished the house on Newport Beach and lots of the interior is lovely. I am so distracted by Meghan Weaver With The Big Beaver’s errr…. skinny jeans? painted on jeans? I can’t comment. Jeff wants to spend A YEAR furnishing the house. THAT THEY LIVE IN.
Jeff goes back to Valley View scream at Frankie again. I love Frankie and think it is hysterical that Bravo is now bleeping the word ‘retarded.’ I’m team Frankie. I also don’t see why Jenni doesn’t shut the fuck up. She’s not Frankie’s boss.
Jeff seems to be off the rails more than usual. I think that he’s probably freaking out because Monroe’s surrogate is suing him for his abhorrent behavior in the delivery room. Click here if you missed that drama. He was pissed and he seems to be projecting it everywhere. He also seems to want to rally Meghan and Tyler and Jenni to be on his side about all of his conflicts with business partners and other employees.
Jeff basically informs Frankie he’s the janitor on three sites now. Jenni also seems like a cunt. Frankie was tearful and JLD mocked him. Then they go to lunch with Julie to mock him some more. I’m so tired of all of these shows being about degrading people.
Sorry, I am just a little bit of a sensey snowflake lately. Y’all know I will come for people in my comments and on Twitter that annoy me, but that really seems to be ALL PEOPLE EVER DO LATELY and I’d like this site to be less depressing. And I feel like I do my recaps in my Shannon Beador voice lately and it isn’t fun anymore. But every show is about the destruction of relationships.
Sorry. I digress.
Then we get to someone panhandling and for a second I’m happy that these Jenni wants to give him “a dollar” (sigh) and then they get pissed off because they might have given him NINE WHOLE DOLLARS and they have charity remorse. I am back to hating these people. Every time someone gives me something for my birthday or Christmas or whatever, I pay it forward. I have money on the ready for people with signs. My mother used to chastise the hell out of me. The first time I did it, it gave me a good feeling. I was like 17 and driving by myself. I went home and told my mother and her response was something about how she heard “those people” were “making $30K a year” with their fake ass signs.” While I still have the skeptic gene about most things. If you are spending your life sitting on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign. I’m happy to buy you a Big Mac here and there. Fuckers. Ah, after I finished that rant, and hit play Jenni told them both to shut up. That’s a meal deal at In and Out. Wow homeless people in LA get In and Out. I need to make a sign.
There is yet another conversation with Jeff and Frankie where Frankie says basically that his employees never stay around long and the uncertainty and difficult conditions are not really something he needs. Jeff shoots back, “How soon were you thinking about leaving?” Even Gage is thrilled Frankie is getting shit canned.
Jeff is the kind of asshole who needs to outnumber the person being fired when he goes to do it in person. So he takes Meghan and Tyler with him. Frankie agrees to take a month’s severance and leave. Tyler is excited he doesn’t have a roommate on the job site that living on rent free anymore.
Next time, I dunno what the fuck happens, but it is the beginning of Jenni and Jeff’s breakup. The episode after that will be the real deal.
Sorry there have so many Debbie Downers lately. I think it’s awesome you pay it forward.👍
Last time I drove by the In N Out by my work I gave a homeless guy $5. Hope he got a double-double and a shake
This episode made me sad. We all know the “behind the scenes” so the anger makes more sense. I truly hope they show what really happened with Jenni next week. I don’t want to see just Jeff’s side. She has remained silent since the news came out. He’s been able to voice his side on his radio show. It must have been a horrible fight. Obviously Jeff losing his Grandmother and the lawsuit with the surrogate has changed him. He seems so unhappy. I love this show & the anger is so obvious-almost depressing.
Jeez I wish you could fire someone legally without a witness. It would make me feel like way less of an asshoke.
Who talks to their boss the way Frankie did? He deserved to be immediately terminated. Jeff was too kind to him… again.
Lol if you only new the truth
Tell us! Tell us!
It was funny/alarming to hear Jeff say it would be almost impossible for him to fire someone with Frankie’s work ethic because you could totally see the writing on the wall. Within about 10 minutes, he starts making noise about lowering his salary. People always get promoted beyond their capacity. I went the other direction. I think I was a good manager, but when a reorg left me without staff, I was so much happier just working. That didn’t seem to work out with Frankie though. He doesn’t believe in oversight. Doesn’t want to provide it or receive it.
I want to thank you, Tamara, for mentioning how well Jeff’s radio show is doing. I’ve been listening lately and enjoying it. Weird that they call it live even when it’s repeated.
I stopped watching this show because it’s such a downer and negative. I used to love it.
Also, then I watched Carson and Tom and everything changed. The skies parted and I felt … well, actually cheerful. It was eye-opening.
Carson and Thom are the BEST! After watching all the Housewives and Jeff just eat each other alive for sport I love their happy banter.
Flipping Out used to be our favorite reality show. After learning that jenni wasn’t employed by JLD, the luster was gone. We still enjoy the show more than any other garbage Bravo Real Housewives nonsense. Talk about fake relationships….
Those women don’t see or speak with one another in the off-season for the most part. Fake fake fake hate hate hate.
Jenni almost seemed like the Greek chorus of the show, she is (usually) funny and somewhat sensible. Without her to cool Jeff’s heels a little the show would be to mean and unpleasant to watch. Who wants to see Jeff fight with everyone? And that guy that says literally nothing, makes me wish Vanina was back. Dont think I would watch a show of his without Jenni.
I keep small bills in the change compartment of my wallet so I can easily access them when I see anyone in need of food. I always think that those few bills are more important to the lives of others than they are to me.
Me too. Maybe because we are grandmas we don’t like to see people being hungry.
Five dollars here and there help people so much. And a look in the eye to tell them to take care of themselves helps as well.
Omg- ditto- can’t find main comment section but ditto to article. Bravo needs a psychologist on staff to help cast understand psychology 101- that situation with project managers could end up in ppl getting hurt. Humiliating ppl on TV is bad news.
See, that’s what I’m talking about Tamara. These bravo shows are full of people being really cruel to one another. I can’t watch them any longer because I think they add to the national discourse of hatred. Notice the new person is always kind for Season 1. Then the next season they’ve morphed into someone that’s mean. If it were my job to watch all of these and recap, I could lose my mind. You have a good handle on this stuff. Don’t know how you do it. I love a little funny snark especially when it’s clever but most of these Bravo people are cruel. I guess that’s to be expected when Andy sets the tone. He loves to encourage it. I believe he hates the women that willingly go on his show so he can shit on them.
I only read your recaps now and don’t have to watch. Thanks and sorry that some of this gets to you too.
I still love Jeff! He should know better as a businessman than to try to put an unqualified person into a position of responsibility and expect it to work out! I’m sorry for Frankie, but he clearly hasn’t learned in his 50 years of life how you talk to your boss.
The Newport Beach house is lovely, but I like the Mediterranean style much better. More warm and cozy.
Oh mrs greenway if you only knew! You keep believing they are good people. The stories I could tell you about jeff and the rest of the Gang just ask me I’ll tell you the truth!
Tell us!
And what was the fight with Jenni and Jeff about?
I think the way Jeff treats people borders on sadism. First he lets Frankie know that he’s unhappy with his work but makes it seem as though he’d work with him and train him, and then he sideswipes him, out of the blue. Granted, Frankie has a big mouth and virtually challenged Jeff to strike back when he spoke the way he did. It seemed as though Jeff wanted to fire him all along and kind of manipulated the situation so he could. I could practically see Frankie squirm through the phone lines when Jeff finally said to him, “So when will your last day be?” I think it caught Frankie completely by surprise, but when he wanted to work until they found a replacement, Jeff was very quick to say they already had it covered. I thought Frankie said he could go back to his old job any time he wanted, or was that Patrick?
Truth is I would have been out of there the second day. But my fiance Tina wanted me to stick it out so I did .I was already finished. I tried to stay till the last episode. But i had enough of all of those fake ass people!
It’s not a situation I would have wanted to be in. I can’t imagine working for someone as unpleasant as Jeff can be, so I think you did well lasting as long as you did. Have you found another job and are the people nicer? I think you should tell us all the behind-the-scenes stuff. You can’t get in trouble for telling the truth right? Of course, Jeff would probably get everybody to say you were lying so maybe that’s not such a good idea. Good luck.
It would be very difficult to work for Jeff as he very detail oriented and compulsive. He notices every little imperfection and flaw. He should only hire these types since he always finds fault with anything out of order. I felt sorry for Frankie because he really did try to please him. He just couldn’t see or prioritize things the way Jeff wanted and that was a losing proposition from the start. I am glad Jeff gave him a severance pay and I hope he found a good job with a better fit.
The job was very difficult because Jeff doesn’t know what a project manager does. I have 13 years in the union in New York I’ve been in construction most of my life.Jeff doesn’t allow you to work he is in control of everything Paul and I were just there to open the gates and clean!
I used to help the people with signs too, then i saw one go after a guy who tried to give him wool socks and a jacket ( from NH here), then a scond girl left her panhandling spot in a BMW, harders the heart fast against them. I am going to miss this show but i have only really kept up on it by reading your recaps.
It’s like my mom being negative Nancy from the grave. And even if I believed you, that doesn’t mean there aren’t people out there who need a little help.
It’s literally the only way I have left to feel like the world is not the festering piece of shit it feels like right now.
But hey, you do you.
Kely,
These people rely on the bleeding hearts to get rich. That is why you see more and more of them lately and the use of hard drugs has exploded. They don’t realize that they are NOT paying for food, they are “paying” Unfortunately, it is sad but true. When I see someone asking for food, I take them into a restaurant and feed them. I don’t ever give them cash money.
I fail to believe anyone “get’s rich” off panhandling. Yeah there are a couple of people out there than should not/do not need to be, but the majority of them need the help. I prefer to buy someone a meal; rather than give $$ but I have NEVER had anyone reject food. I was at an office building that was across the street from a McDonalds in a business district. I saw a man walk out with his lunch, pass a homeless person and keep walking. He got a block down the street turned around, handed the guy his lunch and went back into the McD’S. Good for him 🙂
I’m from the NH area too, I know what you are talking about, Kel. There is a different pattern to the panhandling here and it seems like a business. People have seen the panhandlers trade signs as if they are taking shifts. And there are a lot of facebook posts that give real name and backstory on some who claim to have kids but really live with a bunch of adults and have no kids. It’s all been in line with the opioid crisis in the area. People have offered food & jobs and it isn’t wanted. If you were here, you’d see the difference between these and real homeless people.
It seems like a horrible life either way and the opioid crisis is a true health issue, but I wanted to chime in that I see what Kel sees. You want to help, but it feels like you’re just contributing to the drug problem.
Does anyone feel like Jeff always has cute little gay boys as his assistants for a reason?
I mean it could just be that they all come from Central Casting, but I’ve met some successful gay couples with some weird living situations. Like stay together for the power, the prestige, the money, the look of a nice heteronormative lifestyle where they have it all… but still get their toys to play with. If you know what I’m saying. Allegedly
He’s staying in one of Jeffs houses for free. He’s LITERALLY already Jeff’s twink houseboy. Haha!
Also there’s something about their behaviour together. As though they’re in on a little personal joke or secret. Maybe it’s just my mind being in the gutter. Probably. Allegedly.
Usually the show has periods of hilarity amidst the turmoil. This one not so much. For being a hard ass business man, Jeff often hires unqualified people only to fire them when they don’t do the job.
Not only are they unqualified, but who supposedly does the training? It wasn’t Paul because Jeff was never happy with his performance either. I’ve seen managers like that; even had a company president who once admitted as much. She described it as throwing people against the wall like spaghetti and seeing who sticks. JLD is definitely in the same sort of cycle with a small group of true believers and 2 large groups with great workers who eventually can’t take it anymore and the aforementioned in-over-their-heads for plot lines. It always makes me miss Tabatha Coffey’s shows when I see people struggle at their jobs like that. She is an amazingly insightful manager and thorough trainer.
Frankie made the mistake of thinking that blaming everything on Paul would make him look better, but once Paul was gone it became clear that he was also not up to the job, and I think he came off looking even worse because he had been talking himself up as so much better than Paul.
@Jen: Bingo.
Lol paul and I are still friends jeff hired me to replace paul but I wouldn’t do that
I think part of the problem with Jeff’s employees is lack of training. Even if you have the SKILLS for the job, the employer has a responsibility to set the parameters for the job and provide CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. Jeff is DEEPLY SAD about his grandmother’s impending death. No one should expect his best. It’s too much when it is your grandma, but knowing that she raised him… too, too much. So cutting Jeff some slack is fine, but why is Jennie being such a cunt? It was as if she were doing that Simon Legree-Gollum thing with her hands and the gleeful look on her face as she relished Frankie getting fired was disgusting.
I keep looking for Jeff’s show where he remodeled houses. Each week or so, there was a person that needed a do-over on the house. The fun part of the show was watching someone who knew what he was
doing, pick colors, fabrics, furniture, etc and make an ordinary house into something wonderful. Now, Jeff’s show is all about personalities, and little remodeling. They’ve been working on the same houses forever, and never getting done. Hell, I could just dig out family videos from 20 years ago, if I wanted to see lagging and unsuccessful remodels by people that bickered over everything.
I wouldn’t last 5 minutes with a boss like Jeff, and I hate to watch and add to his ratings, but I’m fascinated by his employees and how they choose to react to him. This season is the worst, though. Frankie does seem like a hard-working guy who cares about doing a good job, and while we know Jeff is awful, Jenni is being equally horrible. I can’t like her anymore. And it’s hard to take her allegations against Jeff seriously when I’ve seen her gang up on Frankie, too. This episode has left me sad and discouraged.
Thank you! jenni causes drama and jeff is a nut case. Believe me I couldn’t wait to leave after Paul was let go
Frankie. What is the true nature of Jeff and Gage’s relationship? There doesn’t seem to be any real love between the two of them. I think it’s mostly business and $$$
Wow things are coming to a head. No longer watch but with devour your recaps. Thank you kindly
