Real Housewives Of Orange County: Nice To Meet You…Again

October 9, 2018 by tamaratattles 67 Comments

We start with everyone exercising. It’s like they are trying to mock me for not going for a walk today. At least not yet. Then it’s back to talk about Shannon and her food line. I need to watch the food line episode every time I want to eat something bad for me because the food makes me nauseated. At Emily’s house, she is chatting with Gina about how Shannon doesn’t answer their texts and seems to pretend they don’t exist. They say they feel like the should reintroduce themselves every time they meet because of her “I don’t know her” attitude. You’re not Mariah Carey, Shannon. Get over yourself. Also am I the only one that think Gina looks more like an Emily and vice versa? I have a hard enough time keeping all the names straight on my recaps and these two really confuse me.

Gina wants to have another girl even though Shane doesn’t. She is feeling some sort of way about having these nine viable embryos. She’s not sure what to do with them and doesn’t like any of the options. #FirstWorldProblems

Speaking of first world problems. Gina and Matt are going to try “bird-nesting,” This is the newish thing where instead of the kids moving back and forth between to households, the parents rotate in and out of the house. It sounds good in theory, but…. I really don’t think Matt is there that much so it is probably a more viable solution for these two than for most couples. What do you think? Have any of y’all done this? Emily says that from a legal standpoint, they need to go ahead and have a plan to divide the assets and set a clear custody agreement. She thinks Gina is just trying to stay in limbo between being married and being divorced. Gina admits she’s afraid to be alone. She’s always had a man in her life.

Eddie is back in Afib. This sucks. Eventually, after five or six ablations he finally goes back to sinus rhythm.

The girls all head over to Shannon’s to celebrate her QVC success. It is Gina and Emily’s first visit. Vicki hasn’t been to the new house before either. The girls decide to go to Jamaica. I did not really enjoy my trip to Jamaica. I was working for an airline and went with an older female co-worker and it was a disaster. We stayed in a non gated hotel and things got very dangerous.

Gina finally breaks down about her divorce. She was supposed to go to Cabo with Matt and bought all the bikinis and then they decided to divorce. That was just a couple of months ago. Jamaica is a honeymoon destination and there is not a lot to do outside the gated hotel. I mean there is, but it’s dangerous. We were lucky to get out alive in several situations despite having a local drug dealer guide showing us around via shared local taxis. Tamra and Shannon avoid Gina’s breakdown while hiding in the kitchen.

Shannon is pissed at Gina for taking ten seconds to collect herself before sitting down. It’s like Tamra says, Shannon is consumed with her own issues and doesn’t acknowledge anything anyone else is going through. Shannon defended herself in a blog saying that she had a lot going on at the time. While this is true, she also has a job and part of that job is interacting with the other cast members.

Jolie and Kelly go to feed the homeless and Jolie gets really overwhelmed by the kids there. She’s such a sweet girl. The actual volunteers are less than impressed with Kelly’s comments about not knowing how to mop because she has maids.

Shane and Emily go to Fig & Olive. I like Shane. I think he is funny. I wish he was not so self-conscious about his height. When Emily complains about trying on bathing suits with Tamra by saying, “Who wants to try on bathing suits with Tamra?” He jumps right in with, “I do!” It think he’s hilarious. Some of the other women just don’t do well with sarcasm. I didn’t really remember that they already have five kids. I think maybe in time Shane might come around for one more. Ah i just Googled. She has two stepdaughters 17 and 12 from Shane’s previous marriage.

There is so much cooking in this episode. Vicki and Steve are getting together with Steve’s kids and Michael at Michael’s house. Steve has three kids about the same age as Vicki’s. Vicki starts talking about marriage. She wants to get married and she wants Michael to get married to his girlfriend and have babies.

Gina goes to the fertility doctor with Shane’s parents, without Shane. The doctor says that she has four options regarding the eggs, continue to store them, donate them to science, do an embryo adoption, or destroy the embryos. Those are all hard options. The doctor suggests Emily and Shane go to therapy together.

There are three drops of rain falling outside. You don’t even need and umbrella. But there is a line of taxis outside my house full of Mexican mothers picking up their elementary kids. These are kids that normally walk home. They live within just a few blocks of the school. There are also dozens of cars on the side street. This just blows my mind. Are they going to melt? It’s literally not even raining now.

Shannon and Kelly go to lunch. Shannon is not looking forward to a trip that requires a swimsuit. Kelly says that Michael came over to watch a movie with her and Jolie. Kelly points out the new girls feel ignored by Shannon. Shannon says they are twenty years younger than she is. Ah, I get it now.

Next week: They are off to Jamaica and Shannon gets jealous when Tamra spends time with the new girls. The new girls share a room with Kelly and say it’s the young crowd versus the old people. This should go well.

I like the newbies, but I’ve also been #TeamShannon for the past four years, so it’s hard for me to pick a side. I guess I’m more inclined to sympathize with Emily and Gina, since it seems like they have been raked over hot coals by several of the others, but I can understand why Shannon isn’t really feeling the connection.

Maybe I’m still in the minority here, but I’m so happy to have the newbies on RHOC this season. Finally, something is happening and they’re not just talking about Vicki and Brooks! Of course, Vicki is dating another smooth operator now, and I’m living for Kelly’s shade.

I have always been team Shannon too. Divorce can be traumatic and you can’t get out of your own head with all the changes, worries and children concerns. Gina wanting Shannon’s attention is ridiculous. I don’t think she has made an effort towards Shannon and actually has been rude to her and in her talking head about her.
She is very judgy and I would steer clear of her if I was Shannon. I also think they do have an age gap and don’t have much in common. And their approach to their divorces or not similar either.

Yep, Gina would probably be better off understanding that Shannon is not really in the mindset of bonding with new friends who don’t have very much in common with her. People are wired differently. Some people easily make new friends, while others are more selective in allowing new people into their lives. And considering how they all first met earlier in the season, it’s not that hard to figure out why Shannon is having trouble in forming any bond with Emily and Gina.

Honesty, I could defuse a nuclear bomb with this show going on in the back ground and still not miss anything. I’ve watched a few past seasons lately and there were so many more exciting storylines, I put off doing work so I could watch. This season is such a snore that watching paint dry would be more entertaining. Truly it is; that’s the work I’m doing. Perhaps it’s time to pull the plug on this franchise

I really like Shane as well, I tend to be a sarcastic witch so I get it…and I really like Emily. When they are together I feel as though they have real convos, just like my hubby and I would have. The difference is that I would have laughed at a lot of his comments and maybe she does, when not on camera…

Agree re it being a boring season. How many times are we going to hear Vicki say she wants to get married and Steve dodging the issue? Or Vicki telling her son to get married and have children? snore

Kind of bored with Gina’s divorce too. And Emily brings very little to the table.

I do not like Jamaica and the previews of them with the hats and braids is embarrassing.

I’ve been a fan of Orange County since the Slade days and this franchise always appears to focus on men. First Slade, then Jeanna husband, then Tamra’s first husband, Brooks now Eddy. The men have a better story line then the wives. Where is Lori and Jo at?

This is actually a very astute observation. When we think about it, RHOC has often been a very men-driven show, much more so than most of the other franchises. Even when the stories involved man drama, the other shows have tended to focus more on how the women are doing, such as Kenya’s marriage on RHOA, Luann’s divorce on RHONY, and all the relationship drama on RHOP. But on OC, men like Slade, Simon, Brooks, Eddie, and Shane have been placed front and center on the show.

I’d chalk it up to Evolution Media, except that RHOBH doesn’t do this either. (Sure, husbands like Ken Todd and Harry Hamlin might occasionally become part of the plots, but they’re more supporting actors than central stars.) There’s just been something about RHOC that’s made the men so integral to the show since the very beginning.

RHOC was much more about the families, including kids, from the beginning. Seems like there have been more divorces on the franchise, too, than the others.

I can’t stand Shane. I love dry, sarcastic wit but find him to be completely repellant. His scenes make my skin crawl. He has absolutely no chemistry with Emily. He seems to have a massive chip on his shoulder because he’s a foot shorter than her and she’s the breadwinner of the family. Plus he’s Mormon.

This marriage won’t last much longer now that it has been exposed to the sunlight of the Real Housewives. If Emily makes it to a second season, I predict a vow renewal ceremony followed quickly by a bitter divorce.

When you disparage adoptable embryos as just a first world problem – are you saying first world embryos are not worthy to live? I have enjoyed your blog but your embrace of an ideology that supports guilty until PROVEN innocent is anathema to me. I see no gender, no race, no anything. I see PEOPLE. Human beings and we are ALL different and guess what???? I believe in a diversity of thought. Because that is the only real diversity. That is the only difference. Skin color, gender, sexual preference are common things to one degree or another. But our thoughts are OUR OWN until we are beaten down by others and unable to have a free thought and express it without ridicule because someone knows better than you. This type of behavior and thinking are very Regressive and in no way Progressive. I know you won’t post this bc I know what you have posted before. Like I said, I have enjoyed your thoughts on the shows I like to watch to escape the madness, but I, like you, am free to read other things by other people. I wish you all the best!

Why in the hell would someone go through the adoption process to just be able to attempt IVF? Does the embryo have a name on the adoption papers? What if it doesn’t take or miscarries – will CPS come and seize all the other embryos for their safety? Joke joke!

Silliness aside, ain’t no one making fun of no babies. Just privileged bitches not realising what they have and moaning because they don’t have more. If you believe in diversity of thought, shouldn’t you be embracing TT’s thoughts on this issue?

Heather Dubrow has extra JEWISH embryos in storage and Andy Cohen has offered to buy them several times and seemed very serious about it.

She’s not down for it, or at least hasn’t been. I think it would weird to have your embryos go to someone you know especially someone in the media.

I guess it would be weird to not know where they ended up too. There are a lot of things about this process that people don’t seem to think all the way through. I think I would go the donate to science (whatever that entails) route in Emily’s case. I don’t see how she could take knowing her genetic daughter she wanted was being raised by someone else.

My friend is pregnant with a donated embryo because of her and his genetics…. there are no legal rights to the embryo so no legal issues. It’s cheaper than adoption and she gets to carry the baby which she wanted. Such a great option instead of destroying them.

I believe it was because I pointed out that this was a first world problem. Not sure why pointing out the obvious is offensive. Third world problems are more like babies starving to death and women dying in child birth. They are not really sitting around wondering what to do with left over embryos.

So true ! However maternal death is rapidly rising each year in the US while most of our counterparts are decreasing when it comes to mothers dying in birth. We have the highest mortality in birth in the developed world . Some of those spoiled rich girls lost their life trying to bring life into this world. I guess it’s less painful because they have money …. ?? ?

Our high maternal morbidity rate has a lot to due with lack of adequate health care. 99% of maternal deaths occur in 3rd world countries and we are by far the highest in deaths in the industrialized countries.

As far as Shannon goes…not only is there an ‘age gap’..but why should she automatically invest in a ‘friendship’ with them even for the show? For example : Peggy & Lydia lasted one season. Why extend all that effort & emotion immediately if they may be gone tomorrow?

I pretty sure that Gina just doesn’t want to be screamed at about her divorce by a pack of banshees, and it would be nice if Shannon had some sort of other interaction with her. Emily I think just wants Shannon to acknowledge her as being in the same room with her on a regular basis. I doubt either of them want to be her best friend. They just want her to be nice. I thought Lydia’s mother tried to explain this to her once.

I think they are both skating on thin ice as far as being asked back next season. Whichever one is getting divorced, we haven’t even met her husband so it’s difficult as a viewer to be very invested in her divorce or care about her newly single life as compared to Shannon’s single life storyline.

There are things that annoy me with all of the women but I totally get Shannon not really giving to squats about Gina. There’s a huge age gap and Gina really isn’t even all that interesting. I’m also confused as to why she keeps expecting a different reaction from these women, she knows where they stand and yet she keeps bringing it up…..save it for Emily. The real problem is that her divorce is her storyline and no one really cares (viewers) because in our eyes she came to the show divorced with unruly children…we’ve never laid eyes on him to care.

As far as embryos go….that is a no brainer #FIRSTWORLDPROBLEM and you can only be in that position if you choose to.

I find Shannon to be grating and I often cringe when she is onscreen. BUT I don’t see Gina making any real effort to befriend Shannon. Gina is just as self absorbed in her divorce turmoil. Pot meet the kettle! She hasn’t asked how Shannon is holding up during her brutal divorce or anything on the level she is demanding Shannon bestow on her. She has been nothing but judgemental and borderline confrontational. Who would want to make friends with someone behaving like that? I do think, though, that Shannon is being a crappy friend to Tamra regarding Eddie’s Afib stuff. But when a person is caught in the middle of a [email protected]$tstorm it can be difficult to see that your friends may be drowning too. For now, I give Shannon a pass.

Tt, you have me so confused now because you mixed up Emily and Gina’s names throughout the blog! Gina is a gangster (from NJ). Maybe that will help you remember? You

Sorry! I literally stopped to google a picture twice during the recap. I THINK I have it now. Gina is more of a Long Island name. And Emily had an M in it for MORMON. Shut up. I think it could work for me! LOL.

Off topic: I think Gina ( or the blonde new housewife) and Brianna resemble each other. They have similar facial features

Gina looks like Kate Winslet. And she looks way better natural than in her gaudy up close looks.

I also agree that Gina looks like an Emily (a totally WASP-y, blonde name) and Emily looks like a Gina (more ethnic). Emily looks way more Mediterranean than Gina does.

Shannon’s white dress and pony tail in her talking head? YIKES!

That stylist, Shannon, is NOT your friend.

I am still reading the recap, but I had to stop and post that Blue eye shadow should NEVER be a go to color! It didn’t work in the 70’s (Lord knows I tried) and it still doesn’t! Okay, I’ve gotten that off my chest and now I can go back to reading the recap…

I’m posting for the comments, I literally have nothing to add because this season is boring me to tears!

Bird-Nesting? Didn’t Kate and Jon Gosselin try this method and Kate had to kick Jon’s twig/berries outta the nest?

I feel so sorry for Emily. She wants another little girl (a sister, just like she had, for her one and only) and Shane wants to be six feet tall. Kinda wish he was “six feet under”!

Still hoping Shannon can find some self esteem and validation among these much younger newbies.

no “bird nesting” is when the kids stay put and basically the parents have visitation in an out of the house. It is a great THEORY especially when the kids need to stay in the same school district. But not particularly realistic when parents move on and get remarried.

i totally get shannon not commenting much on gina’s divorce issues! everytime she has said something, it’s been twisted or the wrong thing, or her projecting her own life onto gina!!! shannon was staying off the gina divorce topic and gina’s now whining about it. all gina does is whine! she should listen to all these women and make more of an effort to try to keep her marriage together for her three small kids. she talks like divorce will be paradise – like they are so special and won’t end up at odds w/each other. she’s in for a rude awakening. then she wants sympathy for going through this! she’s a lousy addition w/no storyline!
