I really want to see what is going on with Teen Mom OG, but I’m not sure I’m in the mood for two hours of this so I will probably watch some now and save some for tomorrow (Sunday). I love that Farrah is losing her mind over the ratings though. I didn’t even know the show was premiering until someone on Twitter mentioned it. So um… breaking news! It is back! And to the first time comment who told me to stop wasting my time recapping MTV shows, so that I can recap 90 Day fiancée instead, you probably should read the commenting rules.
The season begins with Maci and Taylor discussing Ryan’s erratic and threatening behavior. Ryan threatened to shoot up the house that Maci and Taylor and Bentley live in. So they file a police report. Jen and Larry are still in denial and think that Ryan still needs to be around Bentley. They seem to think that Taylor is equally at fault.
Maci and Taylor were nervous about going to court. The judge gives Ryan a protection order to Maci, Taylor and their kids but not Bentley. He can still go to Bentley’s games.
The first little bit of this show was cut off by MTV because it was a late night rerun and they were running behind. I don’t get how they run behind overnight, but they do. At the very beginning Bristol was arguing with her husband and said that she was worried that he was unstable and might harm himself. That pissed him off so he left. They have recently filed for divorce. She is all too familiar with PTSD since her brother Track is also struggling. I just realized that the cut off part might have just been the opening. Anyway, Dakota was the only surviving member of his platoon in Afghanistan. Wow. That has to be a lot to process. Oh look! Sarah Palin is on the first episode. It’s Willow’s engagement party? Bridal show? Something in Arizona. Willow got married this past weekend I think, the day after Track was arrested.
While Bristol is in Arizona, Dakota is in Kentucky visiting his parents. They have a huge house. Dakota was 17 when he enlisted. His dad says in the first few months after he returned from war, he slept with a pistol in his hand all night.
Dakota and Bristol continue to butt heads over his anxiety. In this case I think Bristol could be a bit more accommodating with Dakota. Not to the point that Tyler does when dealing with Catelynn, but a lot more than she seems to be in this one episode. He is literally asking her for support and help when he is having panic attacks and she responds by telling him she is tired of hearing “it’s my anxiety” when he says something mean to her. They are both pleading their cases to production. It’s kind of sad. He says he apologizes and recognizes when he says mean things She says she is tired of being a punching bag. She wonders if it is anxiety or if he is just being a dick. He mentions the date he watched his entire platoon dies twice in this brief scene. If I were his therapist I’d send him to a military support group where he could talk to other people who have been in such horrific situations. Clearly, Bristol doesn’t know how to receive and support such a situation. This is a bit too serious and tragic for Teem Mom.
Catelynn is still in Arizona at rehab. I have anxiety and depression and I find this ridiculous. She came home after two months just to turn around and go back for another month and a half. Tyler is at the end of his rope. He’s clearly gaining weight. Catelynn needs to get her treatment locally. Especially after two months at the Arizona treatment center.
Watching Tyler as a single dad with Nova asking all of the time for her mommy is heartbreaking. Then Catelynn calls to catch Tyler up on her nature walks and then has to get off the phone to watch a movie. It’s just ridiculous. And sad. And now she is pregnant again. Later Tyler tells his mother that Catelynn is skipping her classes at the treatment facility. Tyler says he is losing sympathy for Catelynn.
Tyler goes to see a therapist and tells her that he has not been happy in his marriage for a couple of years. He says that Catelynn did not discuss returning to rehab with him, she just announced that was what was going to happen and left him holding the bag again. The therapist big advice is “you need something to change for you to be happy.” I really should hang out a shingle and take a few hundred dollars an hour for my services. It would be better than this.
We are on baby watch with Amber and Andrew. Amber says that things are going well with Andrew and with Gary. Baby James was born a few days earlier than expected. This means that Andrew gets to start being a single father earlier. Amber’s labor was less than three hours and not particularly difficult.
Andrew literally tells production that every day with Amber is a joy and he loves being in charge of the baby and staying up the baby all night to feed him. Does he really feel that way? Later Gary brings Leah and his family over to meet Andrew’s son. Amber tells another producer that every day with Andrew and the baby is amazing. She regrets missing this experience with Leah. She sort of blames Gary of all people for that.
Lots of people are asking why Cheyenne is on this show. I wonder the same thing myself. She is from Are You The One? After a paternity test it was determined that Cory Wharton fathered the baby after a hookup on MTV’s The Challenge Rivals III reunion. They were not in a serious relationship and are not now. She is dating a guy named Zach who apparently lives with her.
Cory and Cheyenne are splitting custody four days with Cheyenne and three days with Cory. Cory will pay her $250 a month. Cory is not happy with Zach spending more time with his kid than he is. They randomly deny that they hook up in front of the cameras. They are totally hooking up. She totally doesn’t seem that into Zach at all. It’s only a matter of time. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that Cory is not ready to settle down.
As it turns out, the last half an hour was an after show. The most important thing that happened on on the after show was Catelynn seemingly having no compassion for Tyler’s experiences while she was in Arizona. She says that the reason there were rumors on social media that they were divorcing was because people just can’t believe that couples can be together that long. Even when she mentions that she can relate to Dakota, she never really expresses who difficult her illness was for Tyler and Nova. She says that she was doing “a lot” in therapy.
Cory pops up after Cheyenne says that the door is not fully closed regarding a relationship with Cory. They oddly thank Catelynn for joining them and send her off during a commercial but Bristol, Cheyenne and Cory, aka everyone else, stays for the final segment. That was very odd. Nothing really happened after that other than a preview of next week.
