This was the first week of the primetime networks premier week. What are you watching? What have you watched? Here’s what I’ve watched so far.
Parts Unknown Sundays on CNN. I thought it might be too so.on to watch this but I throughly enjoyed Anthony taking Kamau Bell to Kenya. It was amusing to see Kamau drink blood and partake in all the rituals Anthony takes as second nature.
The Good Doctor and Manifest Mondays on ABC. I love The Good Doctor and think Freddie Highmore is brilliant. What is it with British actors playing quirky male doctors so well that you are shocked by their natural accents? Manifest was off to a good start. The whole thing about a plane full of people hitting some sort of wormhole for time travel was hashed out very quickly and we got straight to acclimating back into present day without aging for five and a half years. There are some interesting quirks among the survivors.
The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC. This is Banjos’s favorite show because I “sing.” Fun fact: I I cannot sing. Erica will be recapping again this season and the season is already starting off great with some big voices. I predict the winner will be a 13-year-old girl. She’s jawdroppingly good and not a speck of nerves.
This Is Us & New Amsterdam on Tuesdays NBC. This Is Us wasn’t too sad the first episode. The triplets futures will be explored this season. New Amsterdam is the newest hospital show. I enjoyed it and thought the cast was very interesting.
Mr. InBetween Tuesdays on FX (at like 11pm). This is an Australian produced show that may be a bit violent. I have two of the half hour episodes on my DVR. Both of them taped last night (this morning) the first one came on at 11. I’ll probably get to them this weekend.
The finale of Big Brother and the premiere of Survivor TONIGHT on CBS. I have it on pause right now trying to get this up so I can relax and watch it. This is one of my favorite TV nights of the year. Cho will be recapping Survivor this season! I’m recording the premieres of Empire and Star on Fox. And also A Million Little Things on NBC.
Greys Anatomy and HTGAWM return on Thursdays on ABC and Murphy Brown is back on CBS. Greys will be two hours. Not sure what will go in the Scandal slot yet.
I’m excited to have Hell’s Kitchen back on Fridays on Fox.
Please tell me what you are excited to watch this Fall! I have to go now. I am missing the Survivor première!
The Good Place. I like the cut of Ted Danson’s jib.
We are going to watch:
Hell’s Kitchen
Homes & holmes
American Housewife
AHS Apocolypse
Patiently waiting for
RHNJ
3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It’s free with my HBO subscription & I hadn’t seen it.
Oh SEKirks, it is fantastic.
It was so good. So original too.
Parts Unknown, I too was worried it would be too soon. It was great!
Big Bang Theory
AHS, it’s again getting too gory for me. I’ll keep trying.
This Is Us
New Amsterdam, it went back and forth between being fantastic and just good.
SNL!!!! Has Keenan Thompson left? Wendy Williams was talking about something and I couldn’t figure it out.
RHONJ I’ll watch since they’ve cut Danielle out. She’s just too dark for me.
SNL for me too. And if Danielle left RHNJ I’ll check it out too. Survivor….
You, The Miniaturist, A Million Little Things and TCM (my go to after watching too much news).
I’ve been watching “You” (Lifetime). Seems to be a story about a guy who meets a girl, falls in love and then . . . . morphs into a loveable stalker & possible serial killer. Can’t wait for the next episode (airs on Sundays). What’s wrong with me? Lol . . . .
I can’t watch Part’s Unknown yet. I’m taping them but honestly I don’t know when I’ll be able to watch the episodes. His death really broke my heart.
I feel the same way. I have 63 episodes saved and I watch them in small increments, then love them so much I can’t bear to part with them. Anthony was such a gift to us and it breaks my heart that he carried so much sorrow inside. He has left a beautiful legacy for his daughter. Whenever she is mature enough to watch them. (Like Gram Parsons for Polly.)
Fell in love with him when I discovered he was a former heroin addict turned chef. I knew he had to be an amazing human to be so driven toward success that he could beat his addiction and find his own network show, when everything was against him. A loveable asshole! He made us laugh, cry and took us on the most amazing foodie journeys! I will miss him forever. 🙁
Me too I cried for days as the news just kept coming. I deleted a lot of my saved reruns thinking I’d never watch again. But the first show somehow brought me some peace.
I agree. He didn’t look great but it was wonderful Anthony Bourdain. It just breaks my heart for his loved ones.
I’m still having a hard time watching his shows. I loved his style, his directness and his desire to show the world the truth, not sugar coat it or show only the good places. I remember one episode that has stuck with me for years. I believe he was in San Palau Brazil, he and his local guide were eating in the barrio. He had the cameras focus on one man and said just by looking into his eyes, you could tell how hard a life he had.
His expression and explanation of the people and culture were always spot on. I miss him like he was family.
NCIS New Orleans, but that’s mainly to see the scenery.
Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon just to round out that hour…I like to sing along to the theme song for Young Sheldon. lol
The Goldberg’s for nostalgia.
Shameless.
REALLY happy that Jeopardy! is back.
Mom and the new Murphy Brown.
Speechless.
Absolutely cannot wait for the new DOCTOR WHO!
RAY DONOVAN!
I watch too much tv. lol
AHS, THIS IS US, The Walking Dead out of sheer loyalty as it’s lost it’s luster and The Goldberg’s.
I really enjoyed Manifest and New Amsterdam. So excited This Is Us is back too! Also watching AHS, can’t wait for Grey’s and currently watching A Million Little Things (so far so good!).
I love the voice, and I’m not going to let Jennifer Hudson ruin it for me.
I’m kinda over This Is Us.
I’ve been watching Shameless as it’s one of my favorites
Did Teen Mom come back yet? I tend to watch what’s on when I’m home, there are only a few shows I seek out and they are mostly Real Housewives ?
Hey how could Jennifer Hudson ruin it for you? I don’t watch the Voice and didn’t know she was a judge (or whatever she is on there). I do love her singing but for some reason I’m not all that in to her – I don’t know why! What is it about her?
Omg I am having a hard time tuning into The Voice bc of her too!! She ruins it for me as well and I am trying really hard to get over it. I am so sympathetic to her life story too so I feel really bad about hating her on The Voice.
Is she still throwing shoes? If not, I’ll start watching again. Love Kelly on there though.
I feel so out of place. I’m a CHI fan. Med, Fire, and PD. Given the preferences on this blog, I’m doubtful anyone will even know to which shows I refer. Love The Voice. Just watch the blinds. Then I lose interest. Don’t watch Bravo anymore. Just read certain T T recaps.
I enjoyed Parts Unknown as well but I prefer more traditional food. I prefer less exotic food locales. I really loved Snowfall on FX but the finale was last week. I am enjoying Better Call Saul as I loved Breaking Bad. Chicago Fire started their new season tonight, a great show!! I am enjoying The Voice as well.
I watched This Is Us last night. Parts Unknown, New Amsterdam and Manifest on my DVR. I plan to check out You, which I just heard of last night (thanks DillyDilly for your capsule review). Still watch Walking Dead and Talking Dead (and so glad Chris Hardwick is back and that superfan Yvette Nicole Brown was a class act filling in). Thanks to Rabicate, I cannot wait to watch The Miniaturist; it sounds like my kind of show. And thanks to SEKirk and DalaiMama I will be watching Three Billboards. Perhaps watching How to Get Away With Murder and Empire, which I enjoyed at first, then not so much. I tend to catch up on HBO and Showtime later because that stuff is free with my service and the others expire; then I have to BUY and that pisses me off. So I figure that maybe I wasn’t that interested and they lose a viewer.
One thing about TT is that I love reading what others like so I can say SI or NO!
Hi Nanette, if you enjoy any of this timeperiods artwork with it’s dark, brooding filtered use of light the cinematography alone is worth the watch. Enjoy.
I am hooked on AHS!!! Had took a break for the last two seasons and this season is like the original creepy seasons.
#1 SURVIVOR!
Big Brother finale – loved the winner! Disagree on Fan Favorite *barf*
OZARK – Quirky cool
Dopesick Nation
Who Killed Jessica Chambers?
Walking Dead
DVR Tom Arnold Trump Tapes
48 Hours Dateline and Discovery Criminal ID Channel 24/7
Housewives when stressed lol
Survivor fans represent!!
Oh, fudge! I forgot the most important one. Lucky Dog with Brandon McMillan. Season 6 airs Sat. Sept. 29 on CBS in the morning, different times.
Brandon is THE BEST. Raised in the circus, where his parents had the big cats show, Brandon is a true animal whisperer. From bears, to sharks, to tigers, to “ONE DOG ST A TIME” rescues.
On Lucky Dog, he rescues dogs with days or hours left. The best are the “untrainables.” If you watch the show, you will laugh at that tag as you watch Brandon teach them not just “the basic 7 commands,” but paddle-boarding, surfing, whatever their new “forever family” is into. (@animalbrandon has great photos. Did I mention he is VERY CUTE?)
I am so damn happy to see The Voice mentioned. I am working on the recap – this week had some conflicts.
Confession time. It is 10:45 PM on Wednesday, and I’m kinda drunk. So if I do finish the recap tonight it might be a hot mess. HA!
I am also thrilled to see mention of Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Big Bang Theory is probably one of my all time favorite shows. It is my “comfort food” in TV shows. I can rewatch the reruns over and over – especially when I am home sick. It makes me feel better. I also adore Young Sheldon.
I will also probably watch Modern Family, and I need to catch up on Blackish. I didn’t watch last season, but I do think the writing is great.
I also am going to give Murphy Brown a try… I loved her back in the day! I gave up on Survivor the last couple of seasons, but watched tonight. I think I might be watching again.
On to the recapping.
OH… Charmed reboot. Will be checking that shit out!
Manifest. Good so far

A Million Little Pieces trying it out
This is Us. Love.this.show.
Chicago Med
Grey’s
Hell’s KitchenI
Pit Bulls and Parolees.. I love Tia and family. And the guys. And the dogs. And New Orleans.
Tia has worked with dogs, horses, wokves, TIGERS.. Also been in the army.
And my other animal shows.
Criminal Minds starts soon
Station 19 starts soon
I usually have a three episode rule to decide if I like a show. My favorite pilot episodes so far are Manifest and A Million Little Things. I watched some last season RHNJ and I’m not that pumped for it’s return but I’ll tune in. I can’t wait for RHOBH. TT, any more news on why LVP is so pissed at the cast? It can’t just be the Vanderpump Dogs dog that was adopted out to Dorit then given up and taken to the pound.
This is Us- sweet episode, the parents remind me of my grandparents with their love and consideration for each other.
(slightly off topic: my grandparents’ 1st date, my grandma had to buy their ice cream. She was upset with my grandad because he didn’t bring money with him and upset with her brother because her brother set them up! When she would tell the story, my grandad would say he was just testing her. Apparently, she passed his test because they were married for over 50 years before they died within 8 weeks of one another. They were so cute together, and really adore each other.)
The Voice (became a fan because of the recaps here)
Parts Unknown- bittersweet
Flipping Out- I’m so happy for Jeff and Gage. I love how much they love Monroe.
Chicago PD–kind of, I watched a some old episodes last month, they are in syndication now and come on early morning. I’m just interested to see where some of the characters are now.
We enjoy The Good Place. Its so quirky! Just started watching The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. I didnt care for it at first but am hooked. On a off topic, I am listening to Kavanaugh hearing and Dr Ford keeps mentioning “hippocampus.” I have a feeling Carole is pretty smug at the moment!
I can’t remember the name of the show, but it’s about Veterans and Wolves.
Rick and North on cartoon network
Live PD on A&E
Guy’s Grocery Games
Destination Unknown
South Park
For My Man on T.V.One
Pit bulls and Parolees
So much going on publicly and even in my own town, but gonna try and ketch Last Man standing this Friday on Fox. If it still respectfully lets both sides have lines and focuses mostly on family I’ll keep watching. And changing my mind from my last blog answer, I’m gonna start watching the last season of Parts Un Known. I think I’m ready now. Watched The Resident for the first time, but it fell flat for me. Setting my goals low right now, because I need to ketch up on Supernatural lol, before Season 14 Oct. 11 on Fox. But keep getting distracted watching “The West Wing” re runs, Which should’ve became a reboot on a network already.
I just learned How to Get Away with Murder has season premiere tonight. 10pm est.
Yay!!
For the record I am an ABC girl so I will start with: Grey’s and HTGAWM
Fox; Empire (although the quality of the show has been decreasing with each passing season)
NBC: still watching SVU and the tuned in for Manifest (looking good so far)
Shockingly I watched something on CBS.
Yes I know crazy but it was Mag P.I. with the sexy Jay Herdanez
I’ll give MANIFEST another episode. I liked the last 10seconds. I figured the characters have to be set up so I will try to be a bit more patient.
Survivor and How to get Away with Murder (at least for awhile).
Manifest. This is Us. New Amsterdam. A Million Little. Things.
