Local Charleston news stations are reporting that Thomas Ravenel was arrested about an hour ago for assault and battery. Ravenel was booked at 10:11 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to jail records. He is facing a charge of assault and battery in the second degree.
In May, a 43-year-old North Carolina woman told Charleston officers that Ravenel had assaulted her in January 2015 at his Charlotte Street home, an incident report stated.
Ravenel was not renewed to return to Bravo’s Southern Charm after multiple sexual assault allegations were filed against him.
It is unclear at this time if this arrest is related to any of the sexual assault allegation of if it was the result of a more recent incident. UPDATE! Tamara Tattles Sources have now confirmed this arrest is in relation to an alleged assault by Ravenel’s children’s former nanny, Dawn in 2015. This week Thomas seemed extremely agitated on social media. It appears this was his week to have the children and it seemed likely that he and the children were on a boat at the ocean near his Edisto plantation. Update, Tamara Tattles sources have confirmed that the children were in the custody of their mother, Kathryn Ravenel Dennis at the time of the arrest.
Tamara Tattles has reached out to sources in South Carolina for more details to this developing story. My sources on the sexual assault charges have gone radio silent for the last few weeks. I’m taking that as a good sign that this could be what we’ve all been waiting for.
UPDATE ONE: It looks like the kids were with Kathryn as of at least Monday. So that’s a good thing.
UPDATE TWO: It is a misdemeanor charge; however, sexual assault is mentioned as one of the possible ways to be charged in this particular way. SC 16-3-600(d)(2)
(D)(1) A person commits the offense of assault and battery in the second degree if the person unlawfully injures another person, or offers or attempts to injure another person with the present ability to do so, and:
(a) moderate bodily injury to another person results or moderate bodily injury to another person could have resulted; or
(b) the act involves the nonconsensual touching of the private parts of a person, either under or above clothing.
(2) A person who violates this subsection is guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two thousand five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than three years, or both.
Things could get interesting if Thomas was on parole during the time of any of the allegations, which I believe he was when they occurred.
UPDATE 3: Thomas should be in court for an arraignment soon where bail will be set and he will be free to spew nonsense on social media.
UPDATE 4: Tamara Tattles Sources can officially confirm that the arrest is related to Dawn the Nanny’s assault filings! YES! YES! YES! This is great news! Also, THE DOCTOR showed up at one of his accusers homes over the past weekend and threatened her. This may all be related and Thomas seemed to know it was coming and was prepared.
UPDATE 5: I had little hope that this day would come and neither did Dawn so I wonder if Kathryn actually agreed to make a statement saying that she knew about the assault in 2015 but was afraid to report it. She had been unwilling to do that in the past due to concerns about how it might effect her custody if he was not convicted….waiting to hear more…
