Happy Sunday everyone!! M2M interrupted my Red Sox and Patriots games- this right here is devotion y’all!! We pick up where we left off with Quad fighting with the ladies at the crab boil. She is fixing her lashes while Heavenly is still fuming. Heavenly then tries to start a fight with Mariah whilst Quad primps in the house. They start yelling about receipts and invoices that Mariah supposedly has on Daddy Damon, then Mariah leaves. Heavenly goes to see Quad ends up settling down. Quad and Simone talk and Simone tells Quad how she’s hurt that Quad isn’t sharing/filming with the ladies.
JACKIE ARRIVES! Yes! She just brings a peacefulness, doesn’t she? They all gather and they voice their hurt for feeling pushed away and Quad opens up about her sadness. She wants to deal with it on her own and not lean on anyone. They all express their love and support but Simone stands firm that she should be filming with the ladies…I mean, sharing.
For all of you asking about Quad’s pups, there’s a quick scene with her playing with them so they still are around. Mariah goes to Toya’s house and they rehash the crab boil. Mariah stays firm on having receipts on Damon. Hmmm. I feel like if she did have them we would see them but I guess time will tell. Mariah tells Toya that she should talk to Contessa and tell her that she’s hurt by her.
At Contessa’s house it’s 6:30 am and she is preparing a gourmet breakfast. Because there is literally not a thing in the world she can’t do! Contessa’s dad is leaving and they talk about her childhood and all that he missed. She made excuses for his absence and he apologizes and seems relieved by her forgiveness. With her family history of cancer, Contessa makes the difficult decision to get a preventative mastectomy. She asks her dad come back and be there for her and he says that he will be there. I’m not crying you are! Dear Lawd. I love Contessa to the moon and back and this scene just proves once again why. She’s an amazing woman.
Jackie is planning her second annual Fitni Field Day which will be held at a trampoline park. Curtis arrives with a huge flower arrangement but she’s looking for the Louis Vuitton lol. They discuss Fitni and Jackie is going to pair up the ladies who are squabbling in order to mend the relationships. Good luck with that Jackie! Haha Curtis just seconded my sentiments and we are both right in our incredulity.
Heavenly goes to see her anger management therapist Dr. K. I like him, I think he knows what he’s talking about. Heavenly discusses the crab boil and Dr. K. is thinking that there may not be enough money in the world to continue to help her. They discuss her childhood and her sister Denise. Denise was pretty, Heavenly was smart and they never got along .Mariah reminds her of Denise and she confesses that they don’t speak anymore. Heavenly’s mother never told her that she loved her…and it’s all making sense why Heavenly is the way she is. Dr. K. suggests she revisit her childhood hometown, Miami, to face her past head on so that she can work through past issues.
Fitni Field day arrives and Jackie is happy that Curtis is with her this year. Quad actually comes! Hooray! They do trampoline dodgeball-doctors against spouses. Eugene smashes the ball right into Heavenly’s head (his teammate!!!) which was HILARIOUS. The spouses win. Jackie starts pairing off the feuding ladies. Mariah would rather have Trump than Heavenly so that tells you all that she feels about it.
Contessa takes Toya aside to apologize to her and they hug it out even though Toya won’t accept it. Because, Toya. They playing capture the flag and they do have fun it, except Heavenly and Simone can’t get through it. Contessa and Toya win that game then they play a dunking basketball game as the same teams. Simone again is horrible. Mariah and Heavenly win this one. Quad and Contessa sit and talk about Quad having fun and not worrying about any negativity. It was a nice day and everyone leaves happy.
Contessa and Toya meet for dinner. Contessa seems happy to be there but Toya is already starting some mess. Toya feels like their friendship changed and presses Contessa to make a big deal out of the in the black party comments like she is. Contessa isn’t biting and holy hell I fall deeper in love with her every scene. Contessa is rightly dismissive and would rather spend her time ordering her dinner with the waiter than talking petty crap with Toya. Toya is so put out and it’s awesome to see. Contessa thinks that Toya just wants to fight and goes to leave. Not one to let one make a dramatic exit, Toya leaves instead. I can’t with her.
This was a great episode!! Next week Dr. G makes an appearance and Contessa gets a 24 hour notice for her surgery. Some of the ladies go to Miami and Heavenly and Jackie spar. I’m off to (hopefully!) see my Patriots and Red Sox win-have a great night!
Thank you Pop Culture Kelly for an excellent M2M recap! I actually watch it, but still like to see someone else’s POV. Well, Contessa came off very brave and forgiving all in one scene. Many people don’t even wanna know if they are high risk, let alone have such an invasive preventive procedure done. And not everyone can let go of their past.Totally loved that for once everyone was a good sport for Jackie. And enjoyed the shady, but for good cause, pair ups. I also thought that Heavenly’s therapist seemed legit and on point, but am on the fence on whether Toya or Contessa is the problem starter. Maybe they just speak too different languages, and don’t gel very well together.
thank you Gracie!! Contessa is extremely brave for what she’s doing with her health and with her dad. It’s not easy at all to let all of that go. Honestly as much as I love Contessa I do wish she would have just owned up to saying the shady comments but I also feel that it doesn’t warrant Toya coming for her like she is. I beleive Jackie said the same thing and there is zero reaction from Toya.
I love Dr. Contessa. Toya is being so petty.
Toya is being petty. If my husband was going to the party, I’d just tell him to let my friend know about my father. that I’d call her later and to enjoy her party. In the world of friends, a sick father trumps a party any day. A real friend recognizes that.
Toya needs a storyline, that’s why she’s picking on Contessa. Contessa is an admirable women, which you hardly see on these shows. Quad is fake as they come and glad they called her out about not telling her story or showing up to film. Jackie needs to lay off being food police. I do think Heavenly is a hoot.
Thanks for the great recap Kelly. I’m also a Patriots fan and former New Englander. Thing is, I can’t get into football until the weather turns colder.
Hey Spunky!! Sunday was a rough day to be a fan of the Pats but we stay true no matter what! Where are you now becuase its cold here! =)
I really like Contessa, and I like Toya too. So to me it is very unfortunate that they are at odds. On the surface, Toya does look like the petty, insensitive one. However, I do think this argument goes deeper than a party. For Toya, it seems like she’s hurt that her friend was talking bad about her financial situation on camera. I would be hurt too if I found out my friend was talking about me like that. I just dont think this is the right time to get mad over something like that when Contessa is dealing with an ill parent. She claimed on WWHL that she didn’t know about her father, but the minute Contessa’s husband told her, she should have been more understanding and found it in her heart to let it go. Just my opinion of course.
That was my line of thought. Contessa didn’t need to trash her friend’s name at a party, especially concerning financial status, but with all that’s going on you wonder why Toya won’t start fresh. Shame both parties can’t just regroup. Should be interesting to see if they do in the end.
Because Contessa comes off as dismissive of Toya’s feelings. They never hashed that part out before we learned about Contessa’s Dad being sick. So no, Toya wasn’t ready to “just get over it and move on” but now looks like the petty one for not immediately being able to move past it. I would feel some type of way too. I am SOOOO NOT a fan of Contessa!
See, I don’t dislike Toya but I do not like what she’s doing here. I agree that Contessa’s comments weren’t very nice but Jackie co-signed it so why isn’t Jackie getting any of the anger? I feel like Toya needs to stir the pot and because Jackie’s been through so much, she feels Contessa would be easier to aruge with and not get so much backlash. Eugene was even upset by her antics because it was straight up ridiculous. Just my opinion, loving all the comments from all sides!!! =)
On WWHL Toya blamed her behavior on tequila and not knowing. I don’t believe either of her excuses. Toya also lacks the ability to articulate her true feelings and some all of her comments and digs come off as shady and petty. She wasn’t the best guest on WWHL and was overshadowed by Jerry O’Connell.
Simone needs to worry less about Quads marital issues and put some real effort in to handling her own; because they honestly seem like they are in the same spot they were last season.
I liked how you mentioned that Simone was really upset about her not filming – because I don’t believe it’s about her not sharing. Quad and these ladies aren’t friends in real life and I believe Quad treats them as such “Co-workers” because I believe if they were really they would have been in the loop.
Exactly! It is all about filming so let’s not pretend it’s not, right?
Contessa and Jackie are the most real on this show. They aren’t giving up their dignity which I love. I actually feel bad for Quad and everything she’s going through. I do understand that if she wants to be part of the show she also has to be part of the group. I finally understand Quads problem with Mariah. It isn’t Mariah’s fault that she reminds Heavenly of her sister though.
Totally agree!
Great recap PC Kelly! I love Dr Contessa! Toya needs a storyline so she’s being a petty woman. I agree with another commenter that Simone needs to worry more about her own marriage. Girl needs to give it up already. I feel sorry for Quad and what she’s going through, same humiliation as Jackie had to endure.
Thank you Trix! =) Simone really does need to worry about her own but sometimes it’s easier to focus on someone elses so as not to face it? I think Quad will come through this ok but I’m curious to see Dr. G’s point of view this coming Sunday. He doesn’t seem like the take accountabilty type but who knows.
I like Dr. K. He’s a straight shooter. I wonder how he prepares for Heavenly’s crazy ass, yoga. Tai chi, Xanax…..?
Voodoo??? Hahahaha I have no idea but he’s a trooper!
Great recap. Toya is seeking attention and relevance so she is holding on to her issues with Contessa. Contessa was not the only one who mocked the In the Black party, it was a source of humor for all of the ladies.
I heart Contessa big time, I love her devotion to her family and her willingness to strike a balance between her professional life and home life.
Jackie could learn something about balance from her….
FYI for anyone thinking of becoming a physician or going into medicine—Dermatology, Endocrine and Psych are the specialties that allow for a great work/life balance, flexible schedule, family life.. Tell your children.
OB/GYN and Cardiology are two of the worst specialities (Trauma surgery is another) because of the OnCall hours/ schedules, random deliveries and heart attacks, motor vehicle accidents at ungodly hours (they are great specialties with many dedicated physicians but not conducive to family life).
Unfortunately,I speak from firsthand experience. I took a page from Contessa’s book and decided that my professional life interfered with my personal relationships.
I made some changes and now I have the time and energy for my family, friends and Tamara’s site..
Win, Win for all … (smile)
What about plastic surgery? Unless you are the one who gets called in for emergency reconstruction, it seems like lots of money, scheduled hours. Stressful, though, I would imagine. Seeing all those botched jobs.
micu thank you for your point of view! It’s a real balance and God bless you and every other medical personnel out there doing the Lords work on top of having a family! Not easy. And I will speak for myself by saying how grateful I am that you make time for TT and for this here recap!
My pleasure, I am grateful for the opportunity to help people in a way that is no longer detrimental to my personal life. Unfortunately, some relationships are beyond repair due to my neglect.
I am a long time lurker on this site and I now have time to post. This site has been my happy place and addiction for some years now.
TT is so interesting to me and she picks the best guest bloggers.
I really enjoy the community here.
And, I had the pleasure of being cursed by TT when I posted my first comment a few years ago!
I was scarred but not broken (ok-maybe a little broken).
Plastic surgery is a great specialty for work/life balance for those who perform elective cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgeons also perform emergent/ urgent surgeries after trauma, injuries, accidents, etc, so a plastic surgeon may have a rigorous schedule depending on the sub-specialty.
And do not have plastic surgery done by anyone other than a Plastic Surgeon, board certified (and even then, research, research, research). I’ve seen cases of lipo done by an OBGYN, tummy tuck by a Dermatologist..The list goes on.
Surgeons receive surgical training in residency; plastic surgeons receive additional training after completing surgical residency. Then, some plastic surgeons will specialize even further with a few more years of training (for example: maxofacial).
Be careful with the great “deals” offered for cosmetic surgery, not every physician is a surgeon.
Would you have your PCP perform heart surgery on you just because she is a physician?
****end of public service announcement, (sorry for the long reply) ****
