Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night
Remember how the stars stole the night away…
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night
Remember how the stars stole the night away…
I mean if I have to have this earworm all day, we may as well all sing together…
Just heard it in the car
uggh..k..here I am reading your post and I am thinking – this is words to The Pretenders song? awesome!! Come to find out I have to bleach my ears!
Bleach your tongue for such blasphemy! Lol joke joke, its not to everyone’s taste.
As far as musical interludes go, I’ve heard worse ๐
*the music’s not to everyones taste, not bleach ha!
๐๐๐
<3
Rats. Anyway, LOVE.
We all need a MI sometimes. and if you’re gonna play real jams like this, then I say groove on!!!
I am blessed with a Woobie (she-child fruit of my loins) who has emulated twenty years of witnessing my full-on vehicular karaoke and is now a passenger-seat-partner in my golden throated ventures, and that includes a testicularly redundant full-on Earth Wind & Fire falsetto. Hence my love for mother-daughter road trips.
DalaiMama – once again, I bow before you. Your writing style is AWESOME!!
Could not agree more!
Good times…..โค
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!!!!!!
Yay Earth, Wind, & Fire! (Do they use the Harvard comma?)
All time favorites!!!!! My bd is 9/28 so I always change the date to the song. ๐
And what is the Oxford rule regarding commas and ampersands?
A fellow copy editor, music reviewer friend once told one of the guys in the Old 97โs that the apostrophe didnโt belong and the guy busted up and told him the band had a disagreement about it and he was the one who did NOT want the apostrophe, but was outvoted.
I love the Old 97s
One of my favorite dance songs. Thank you for reminding of EWF today.
PS- took your advice and watched Castaways. Really good and impressive camera work. Not at all like any other reality show out there
Those outfits!!! Bwaaaaaaa….
I love the song. I was born in Sept, so, I have been known to belt it out from time to time.
Must be a light-hearted happy day for you, TT! Awesome!
Party on. Dance like somebody’s watching just in case you have a peeping Tom.
OMG I love this song…I love this band!
I love music from the 70’s! That’s my fav decade for music. I was about 14/15 when this came out.
Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day
(btw, what’s a ba de ya?”)
Of you sing it right, it’s actually Nadia..LOL. My bd is in September, so I always hear my name when this comes on. Unfortunately my bd is the 16th๐๐๐๐๐๐

I just realized Kathy Griffin is in town and has a show in two hours. Tryna decide if I should head that way. Tickets are expensive but I usually luck into a free one when I go to this venue. Someone ALWAYS gets stood up or has an extra…
Hell yeah you should go. I would carry her in. Have fun and tell us all about it. Have a politically incorrect time.
def. go – she will tell everyone of her success in washington!
Absolutely go!
Tell us about it maรฑana ๐ค
Hell yeah! GO! That song in your head all day is a sign. You need a little “happy break”. You deserve one! Time to dance the night away. . . . . ๐
def go…..this is from uhm I fucking love TRUMP person….but free speech and she had ALWAYS BEEN FUNNY!!! (no heads Kathy this time around)
how could I love Kathy Griffin….well, the same reason I love trump โฆ.JUST FUCKING SAY IT!!!! no more fake politiciansโฆ.i’m done.
I opted not to go because I looked online and the show is THREE HOURS LONG and because I’ve heard her, I know most all of the story before. She was at a HUGE venue with tickets form $40 -$122!
This isn’t the Comedy store in Little Rock, Arkansas.
I’m a huge fan of people who JUST SAY IT. But as the POTUS saying racist, misogynist things or choosing Russia over the European Union are not things that I want our president to JUST FUCKING SAY.
Sheโs in Miami tonight at Adrienne Arsht which is a huge venue.
OMG, u cannot possibly be for EU Tamara???? what??? ok….see I still love you.
I’m so happy that Kathy is doing so well again.
I love this song!
Me too! Saw them in concert years ago..danced, laughed and had the best time!
Oh my thank you..tearing after listening..but did my usual jam..and old lady dance! My heart does something when listen to this. Brings me back to a place and time long ago..like a snapshot that can never be forgotten. Thanks…still singing and dancing!
Put on the cd..loving it! Jaming now..missing my young life. Retiring. Next Friday is my last day after 50 years working. Thanks again for this.
Today is my daughter’s birthday. Her father used to sing this to her every year. Brings a tear to my eyes.
So glad y’all appreciated the song. Well except for Sam who is clearly retarded. ๐
I didn’t go to see Kathy G. I decided to dash out for a fancy dinner. The plan was a bowl of She Crab soup at the bar and Fried Chicken and a crab cake via take out. I was doing well eating my soup and break and drinking water but the place is really popular and began to fill up. I on an alcohol break so when over 30 minutes past and my order was not ready, my anxiety began to rise. Over an hour after I arrive I was out the door with my weekend supply of food. But somehow, I am too full of soup and water and anxiety to have a piece of chicken while it’s hot. The good news is I have biscuits for breakfast on cornbread muffins when those run out and at enough fancy food to last the weekend. ๐
ahem – and I say that with clean ears ๐๐๐๐
Ha. Perhaps old ears would be better. Clearly you are too young to appreciate the song. “,,,never a cloudy daaaaaaaaaaaaaay…”
I am patiently waiting for Sarah Brightman to drop her CD!
You forgot the last syllable of that line… YOWWWWWWWW!
Darn. I was about to double dog dare you to go to the show and scream โJovani!โ throughout the performance.
That would be priceless!
Hope you enjoy the biscuits. TY for Earth Wind & Fire!!! College day memories 1970s.
Well at least you went out…my earlier post was a bit late,,,,,god bless when your reading glasses don’t fit and you have to hold them with one hand…..
Hey..how about next songs..Marvin Gay!..my heart will sing again!
Also some Jackson 5..my favorite..still play and dance to that!
Spent some not so wonderful time in the mid west…70โs..but loved Charlie Daniels..Little River Band..Rick Derringer..so many more..but came into loving Motown in Wisconsin in the 60โs…
With my transiter radio..that had a leather pouch..and and ear plug!
I was just in South Africa and my divine tour guide was Marvin. He explained to my husband and me that he is called Marvin “Just like Marvin Gaye.” We told him that Marvin Gaye is from our city, and boy, was that ever a connection! Music all day. ๐
Those were the days when I understand the words to songs, and would party every Friday, and Saturday night. #Goodtimes! ๐
*understood
Saw them many years ago here in Atlanta. One of my favorite concerts!
Thank you for this Musical Interlude, TT! I LOVE this song, and I will stop and dance around to it any time! I miss the 70’s! I mean, how come we’re not all singing great songs and dancing around and wearing wild and crazy outfits anymore??? We used to have so much fun! I hope the young people of today are having as much fun. Get your nose out of your phone, kids, and go have a good time! Time goes by so fast it will blow your mind.
Kinda new to the site but I just love it!!! I canโt wait to read everything from the recaps to the responses everyday.
Just loved the EWF video – great memories for me too…Happy Birthday to all the September stars!
I love EW&F–this was during my heyday so of course I love it. Thank you, TT!
I LOVE this song! It makes me happy every time I hear it. Thanks TT!
Ba duda, badu, ba duda…..
I grew up in Small Town, USA. We had 1 radio station. During the day we had country music & a good time was had by all. At night we had MOTOWN. Love it. Cool & grey here today. I needed a little sunshine. Thank you.
Thanks TT for the EWF video, I loved the 80s music.
One of my favorites. Thank you.
