I keep wanting to report on Jim and Alexis’ divorce situation. I feel like something shady is happening, but I can’t really figure out the angle.
First of all, they were buying property during the divorce process? Who does that?
Back in May, Alexis and Jim bought a 3 bedroom, 4 bath, oceanfront property for $4 million in Dana Point. Then in June he filed for divorce. Then in July, they bought a The 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom, in San Juan Capistrano, for $1.3 million. They already owned a much larger home in San Juan Capistrano that they purchased in 2016 worth $3,650,000. It has five bedrooms and six baths and is on nearly three acres of land. It also has a horse barn, a salt water pool and spa with a cabana.
They sold the home they lived in while filming several years ago a huge loss to avoid foreclosure. Now they can suddenly afford three luxury homes? How does that work?
When Jim filed for divorce, he asked for 50/50 custody and for HER to pay Him child support. Things didn’t work out that way. He ended up having to pay $2k for each of their three kids in child support and another $10K a month in spousal support for a total monthly payment of $16 according to documents obtained by The Blast.
Jim gets both of the more expensive homes and Alex gets the small San Juan Capistrano home plus $250,000. This doesn’t see equitable to me at all. She did get all of her handbags though. WTF? She gets handbags and he gets a classic car collection? Does he still have those cars?
Jim keeps the SkyZone business. I didn’t even know that business was still up and running I thought there were lawsuits surrounding that business but I may be wrong there. I believe both Tamra and Shannon were making the claims online. Tamra claims Jim could be going to jail and that there were allegations of serious injuries at their Skyzone. Then Jim threatened to sue them.
The agreement states the divorce will be final as of December 23, 2018. The couple married in 2005.
Does this sound like a run of the mill divorce to you? I see a lot of money changing hands and going through family trusts only to end up back in Jim’s hands. What do you think is really going on here?
Super SHADY!! I wouldn’t be surprised if they are only doing for financial reasons or some kind of scheme Jim came up with
That’s what I thought, but I don’t understand how that would work. I wouldn’t understand, though, because I’m not a fraudulent mother fucker.
So trueeee
Alexis maybe wanted the smaller house. If it’s in the same area for the kids’ sake
Seems like a Nene divorce situation.
That picture is the strangest ever. WTH is she doing? Auditioning for a dollar store version of Nair commercial?
Totally! That is Funny AF
Is she kicking that guy in the background? Is that Jim.
Maybe it’s the angle, but her foot looks ginormous in that pic!
Tall women have larger feet. No shame there. Ginormous?
I don’t understand the whole foot size shaming of women. Like it’s a failure of being small and dainty. You all are nutters trying to stuff your feet into smaller shoes… Proud owner of size tens.
I wear a size 11 and am 5’10. I have been made fun of my whole life but at this point I think I would look ridiculous with small feet on my frame.
I remember since childhood girls being teased for the size of their feet. It bothered me than and still. I think of two things.
The lyrics from Darling Clementine “and her shoes were number nine,” which describes a large homely woman, letting us know large feet are unattractive.
And golden lotus, a prized tiny bound foot. The binding of feet kept women subjugated to men and in pain.
THEN and still …
Thank you!! Me too! My own mother (not a very nice person) used to call my long very narrow feet, “gun boats” They are appropriate to my body-I’m 5’11 and a
10 1/2 (the hardest shoes to find).
I’ve noticed almost all the shaming/critical comments come from other women which bums me out.
Here in the south we all have big feet. Everyone is crammed in the 9-11 section with slim pickings. But the size six and seven shoes are there in all of their various splendors.
Did you see the photos of Kanye in too-small slippahs? LOL.
And the divorce is final which is odd… I thought California had a mandatory six month wait period !?!? It seems like they just filed. I agree…something’s not right.
12/23 is 6 months and one day from the filing date…. stupid rule
My first thought when you said they were buying houses during the divorce process was that they were buying a house for her to live in and a house for him to live in, and they were going to sell the joint house they had been living in. But then you said it looks like Jim is going to keep the joint house–so I don’t know.
Maybe the divorce is just a way to legally separate their assets?
Jim’s former partner at one of the places filed a lawsuit against him, allegedly, Jim sold the business and didn’t pay out the partner.
Everything about the two of them is shady. Thanks for the update TT!
I was wondering if it was due to an LLC that is already in both of their names, “buying” the houses and due to what it would take time wise and financially to dissolve a joint LLC and set up another that they have left this one in place for now while other potential legal issues(Sky Zone) shake out.
It’s the easiest way to protect her financially from his mistakes.
Well, Alexis gets to stay in Marbella Country Club in SJC which makes sense as her kids go to school around there. I am sure that the RHOC women would not be allowed over there to play golf since it is a nice prestigious place and they act like 12 year olds so they get to play over at the very old.aged, Senior Community pitch and putt course tucked away in the hills so they can scream and yell over there.
Hey now, San Juan Hills actually a tougher course than Marbella. The ladies a complete embarrassment/tragedy at golf…or anything for that matter.
He always seemed slippery, and she always seemed to be the tofu that soaked up whatever he dished out. (Apologies for the mix of metaphors). Is he maybe taking the SkyZone business as a liability? And she’s getting her name off of it in exchange for not taking half the good properties? I’m in over my head, but that’s because we never divorced because we couldn’t afford two sets of luggage.
If not right on the money, I think you’re at least close. This smacks of asset diversion.
Tofu can be slippery…It’s over my head too…. I didn’t get a new house when I got divorced, I got a storage unit and rented my parents duplex for years!
I come here to find out and understand the truth, sounds like there’s some good theories here. Jim always seemed shady to me.
I’ve been following this as well and it definitely seems a little sketchy. I have a hard time believing that a SkyZone would be lucrative enough to support this kind of lifestyle.
I live in AZ and sky zones are tremendously popular. Kids’ bday parties, school field trips, weekend nights, etc. just FYI. Happy Friday!
What does he even do that he can fork over $16,000 AMERICAN DOLLARS every month? And she is keeping the San Juan Capistrano home neither one of them live in because they sold it LAST YEAR. They have moved their kids more than 10 times in their young lives. What/Who are the Bankruptcy-llinos running from???
She lives in the smaller SJC home and the own all three properties.
They own nothing but three mortgages, maybe.
Jim and his business dealings have always seemed skeazy to me – he reminds me of doing business like Joe Guidice did, which we all know how well that worked out now. And Alexis has always come across as dumber than a box of rocks, which is how I imagine her business sense to be as well. Something does not smell right here, for sure. Thanks for the info, TT! Buying property with my ex would be the very LAST thing I would ever want to do, even if it was a amicable split. Jim is just so sleazy to me – he is up to something here, and if I were Alexis, I would not be sleeping easy anymore for fear she’s going to end up being the one stuck with all his sleazy business dealings debt.
I said this from the jump, something is DEFINITELY up. It sounds like Jim was trying to mitigate his loss in a lawsuit. I haven’t taken Property Law yet but I have taken torts, I do know that if any of the judgements against him & SkyZone are successful and he doesn’t pay up, they’ll just put a lien on everything. Ifbwe hear in a few months that Jim agreed to settle on behalf of SkyZone, then I bet that’s what they were doing. He’ll agree to settle, won’t pay up, get this sh*t seized, and then go home to the “small” house Alexis still has. They’ll be remarried as soon as it all blows over.
My kingdom for an edit button. Sigh.
Oh. Interesting. I’ve been to trampoline parks before and wondered how they could possibly stay in business, the injuries must be crazy! I put off a trampoline (fact:I never would have bought one, dh did it) not so much worried about my kid, she’s coordinated and kids break an arm here and there…I was worried about the neighborhood kids and the what ifs…
The weird thing was the house that Alexis lives in in SJC was purchased by the family trust and then moved into Alexis’ name. The other two that Jim has were purchased in both of their names and then transferred in Jim’s name alone as part of the divorce settlement.
I agree with SheBeSheBroke. Unless they do not have a mortgage on the big houses. If they do, if they transfer the SJC to her name only, the business is his, then the judgement would be against him. Unless they own the big houses outright, likely he would either sell at a loss or let the liens pile up. Do whatever “Madoffish” things necessary to juggle whatever shell corporations or properties or whatever is needed to keep the SJC home safe. Then, yep, remarry when it is over. The punchline would be if that were the plan and then Alexis said SUCKER! Hit the road, jack!
Judge Judy always says follow the money it will lead you to the scam.
Jim is definitely shady. But, I always had a soft spot for Alexis. I always thought that she was happy to go along with whatever Jim said. And I feel like she is doing the same thing with the divorce. Jim is probably playing a money laundering game, but I would be really surprised if Alexis had a clue about it. For some reason, I always saw Alexis the same way as DeShawn from the very first season of RHOA in that she was dim but mostly harmless. And because she is dim and harmless, she, like DeShawn got shafted by her dick of a husband – CONSTANTLY. I don’t understand why Jim would want or even expect her to pay child support though. It’s not like she has any real skill other than looking pretty and showing how (I can’t find a nice way to say dumb so I will stick with dim) dim she is.
I see Jim and Alexis as Tre & Juicy Joe 2.0. I think Jim is just trying to mitigate Alexis’ exposure to whatever shady thing he’s about to do.
I considered that Alexis might be in on it, but I just don’t buy it. I’m not even convinced that Alexis knows she bought property with Jim during the divorce. It all seems to be set up through trusts and shadiness. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just thought that this was the easiest way to make the divorce go away quickly and have a home and child support for her kids. And have Jim not be mad at her.
I mean Tre went in person to sign documents and gave false statements about her employment to back up those documents. As far as I know, Alexis hasn’t done any of that. I think that if she were in on it, there would be no way that he would divorce her. She could easily testify against him and walk away clean.
They just built a SkyZone near us in the suburbs of Chicago. I haven’t heard anything bad about this chain. My kids like it! He must be doing well!
If he was trying to hide assets he would have given the expensive houses to alexis and rented an apartment. He would have kept the business himself. If his partners lawsuit went through, jim could only pay him what he had left post divorce.
Jim did keep Skyzone according to The Blast. OTOH I thought I also read that he sold Skyzone and didn’t payout the partner. So who knows.
Jim may be thinking of flipping the beach house because that is a very low price for that area. He could be thinking of leasing it maybe to a Healthcare Co. to turn it into a sober living home (please God no) we have enough mayhem from their discards to homeless. but he could make a lot of money either way, to cover some of that settlement.
While I don’t think this is the case with the Bellinos, as they are so shady boots, but I did have a co-worker who got a divorce after 30 some years of marriage, but their (considerable) assets were of course so tangled up AND there were the kids to still consider, so they were literally divorced for years before the assets were finally divided.
If I recall, she remained in their primary home b/c they still had kids in high school and college. They both wanted even the kids in college to have stability, so the arrangement was that they would keep the house until the youngest moved out (I think he got an apartment his senior year of college – I don’t even think he knew that he was the reason for this plan). Neither liked the idea of using their combined assets to pay rent for his living expenses – and he didn’t think it was fair that he was contributing to the upkeep of the marital home and a vacation home they had AND paying rent…. so they purchased a condo for him, which at the time they purchased made them money in the long run.
I should note though, that she was an attorney and she came up with this complicated plan over wine with herself and 3 or 4 of her attorney friends. HE was just grateful that she wasn’t announcing to their friends and family that he was a serial cheater, and the latest girlfriend was NOT someone he met AFTER they split.
So, maybe there was a pre-nup that said how much assests he would get in the event there was a divorce. Like he’s entitled to more because it was laid out that way ahead of time. The purpose for buying new houses with it might be slightly harder assets to seize and take than cash if he is getting sued.
It is California’s weird tax laws. I’ve said it before about Heather and Terry and their McHouses, they “live” in them for a year and sell, then they don’t pay tax because it is their primary residence.
But Heather made this last house at least very personal. She had an etched glass wall in the dining room representing her family tree; she took a day to visit the freezer place and consider the shape she wanted for ice cubes. It didn’t seem like a home she intended to sell in a year.
Sometimes the price of freedom is high. She may be willing to give up a lot of stuff just to get away.
They have had a strange marriage as well. People are strange.
There was a 60 Minutes or 20/20 news magazine episode about how dangerous those trampoline parks actually are. People have actually died.
Also, it is a large cash business so it’s easy to skim tons of cash off the top. I’m not saying anyone would ever do this but it is pretty common.
Maybe they are doing all this to get some sort of Christian Reality Show? Big cash influx, get back together, made for TV wedding, then happily ever after?
Who knows. Something surely stinks.
The 2k child support/10k spousal support split was interesting to me.
One of the few things I learned and remembered in my tax law class was that child support was not deductible on income tax, but spousal support was deductible for the person paying it out. Then I heard that was getting changed in the tax law Republicans passed.
Turns out, Jim will get a nice tax break by having the divorce finalized prior to 2019. That means he can still deduct the spousal support payments going forward (Alexis will have to pay tax on it as income).
If their divorce was to be finalized after December 31, 2018 though, Jim couldn’t deduct the spousal support.
The divorce is a shady and likely a scheme. He someone manages to snake out of all his business scams through the convolutions of an Olympic gymnast. Alexis always struck me as stupid and worse, superficial. I think Jim uses Jesus and religion to control her; I don’t think he has an iota of true faith, compassion, or charity. She is over the top ridiculous with her materialism. I think part of her Jesus-ness is really part of her need to appear perfect and to compensate for her shallow empty inner life. She always struck me as a poseur. To be honest, a lot of the OC women – even former cast mate Peggy T. – seemed unbelievably shallow and their “prosperity Pulpit values” just seemed like part of a construct to say they are good people and by the way, God wants us to be rich. I think Jim’s schemes are beyond Alexis’s Ability to fathom but I also think she knows he is a shady mother fugger but cares too much about the lifestyle and appearances to care.
he was always very sleazy and not sure how much she knows or understands. when they were on RHOOC, they had at least one new mcmansion per season, mayb more!!!! maybe this divorce is another ‘GET RICH’ scam!!!!
Jesus jugs is a snooze fest.
