Review of Luann’s Cabaret Show Last Night

August 5, 2018 by tamaratattles 43 Comments

One of our own was at Luann’s Cabaret show last night. Here review is below. Hopefully, she will be around to answer questions in comments!

In one word: disappointing. She didn’t address any of her latest controversies, or even discuss the boat ride from Hell. She obviously has a ‘script’ that she has performed since her very first cabaret and doesn’t really alter it much. Her ‘friends’ were 6 different singers that you have never heard of (and never will). They were mostly mediocre, with the exception of an older black man who sang ‘Killing Me Softly’ which got the crowd riled up. The majority of the audience was talking or going to the bathroom and the bar when anyone other than Luann was on stage.

Luann did a ‘Q and A’ but most of the questions were blah like ‘how do you stay looking fabulous??’ (which she does, BTW) which led me to believe they were mostly pre-planned questions. The only interesting reveals:
1) When asked about Carole she said ‘well I know Carole loved being on the show so the statement she released about leaving was interesting’ obviously implying she was fired.
2) When asked about Dorinda she said that she has always loved her but she is very hurt by her right now.
3) When asked by a young ‘lady’ in the crowd ‘who has a bigger dick: Tom or the pirate, she immediately responded- Tom!
4) When asked who she thought Andy’s favorite housewife was she said ‘LVP bc she has more money than God’.
5) She said that she is 100% single right now. She also said that Jacques is like family to her, he has a serious girlfriend but they still see each other frequently.
6) She mentioned her daughter, Victoria, and that she has a great job working for Nicole Miller. (No mention of the lawsuit about the Hamptons house).
7) She mentioned many times that her clothes were from Jovani, the store that Dorinda brought her to, and that it would be a major plot point on the show.
As I said, disappointing overall. I wish that we had at least one interesting cameo. Other shows had Sonja, Bridget Everett, Cheyenne Jackson, Amy Phillips, etc.

Thank you to the awesome person that attended and reported the concert. I never expected “full disclosure” on any of Luanns issues at a concert and I’m sure luanns legal team was standing by and told her what she can and shouldn’t say.

I am #TeamLuann and glad she made sure that she honored her contract with the cabaret – one less
    lawsuit the better.

    I’m surprised she did a Q&A period.

That just seems odd to me at a cabaret show.

I’m the reviewer who was at the show. She said she did it as a tribute to the Carol Burnett show but I’m sure she realized that people weren’t really there to hear her sing, so much as talk about Housewives, so the Q and A makes sense.

No! I definitely did not buy the t-shirt. The only money I spent was at the bar.

Yes it was sold out. She said it was the largest venue she has ever done and started getting emotional when talking about it. The cabaret seating on the floor was $120 a ticket.

Why on earth would you wonder about that. Do you wonder if other people make money off their tours? Making money is kind of the whole point of a tour. She is selling out huge venues. Of course she is making money. Way more than Nene makes hosting at tiny comedy clubs.

I do wonder- many of these things are money losing deals- as a CPA I’m wondering who funded this- and if the proper taxes are being paid. Not an unusual question for someone- especially knowing that the principal knowingly avoided setting up an agreed upon trust for her children.

Am I mistaken, or was Luann caught in a lie here? Didn’t she say that “nothing happened” with the Johnny Depp pirate when grilled at the reunion that year? Love Lu & I am rooting for her, but she’s not exactly the brightest bulb. Seems like she walked right into that one.

I didn’t even pick up on that. I suppose she could be referring to when he was caught with his pants down, but I always had the impression that when they walked in, it was hidden.

Andy Cohen would not answer on Carol either when asked about Bethanny’s tweet. He could have at least said she wasn’t fired to save face for her. He said he never comments on contracts. But given what Bethanny stated he could have at least refuted that. Seems as if it may be true she was in fact…fired. Wow Bethanny wins again.

Maybe that’s because none of them have ever been technically fired? Since they have to wait to see if they get offered another contract for the next season, it’s more like not getting re-hired more than being fired. And seeing what a high opinion Carole has of herself, I seriously doubt she would let Bethany ‘win’ by walking away from the show. Just look at how long she stayed with Adam to spite LuAnn. Adam thought he’d use Carole to get his cookbooks published and get more fame. Carole can’t even finish writing an article on time, which has pissed off her publishers, so we all knew she wasn’t going to be a help. Just like Brandi, Yolanda, Carlton, Jacqueline, Danielle, and how many others swore up and down they weren’t fired.

For me, the biggest tea here is the Jovani mention. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out! I haven’t heard of them before, but everything they have shown looks beautiful. Outlandish and showy but still elegant. Just like Luann.

Thanks for sharing this Laureen, you did a great job. Succinct but with all the pertinent gossip.

You said the show was disappointing. If you weren’t a HW fan would you recommend this as a reasonably priced after supper show?
I love me some Luann. I’d definitely go see her but I’m a fan and would enjoy seeing her regardless.

If I weren’t a HW fan I don’t think it would be worth it. It was definitely fun and exciting to see Luann but most of the show was comprised of the other performers who were not that great. Clearly that was the opinion of most of the crowd as they were not paying much attention to them. Her guests change with every show so I suppose the overall quality of the show varies night to night. I also think it would have been more enjoyable in a more intimate cabaret setting, like Feinstein’s in NYC where she originally performed it. It lost a little if its charm in the big venue.

Thanks for the review. The Q& A is cool. Surprised she did that. I think it would be exciting to be there. I understand that if you are expecting a special friend, it would be disappointing to have those other folks there instead. But it had to be pretty cool to be there as a fan to the show.

I knew immediately when i saw that Jovani scene that it would be an issue. They filmed WAY too long there for it not to be an issue in the future. Almost overly obvious tbh. I think whatever it happened is the actual issue with Lu and dorinda, and it seemed obvious to me as soon as they walked in that store. Bizarre filming.

It’s a year later and I just found this after I had just seen the show at Mystic Lake Casino. Guess what, it’s still dissapointing!!! I wasn’t expecting good singing. However, I thought I’d get a good, bawdy, over the top, kind of good/bad show. Instead, she phoned it in. She was not “present”, she did not connect with the audience, and she does NOT have charisma! Don’t go.

Lol. You won’t believe it but I snuck out early. That was my precious time away from kids, I couldn’t waste it!
I would’ve bought souvenirs but no way. You know, either she was drunk or she really IS as fake and like a hollow person without a soul, as can seem like on the show. Lol. I dont mean to be cruel. Seriously, I was team Luann, but either she was high or she really didnt give a rip about the audience. For example, she was 1 hour late, she was on for 10 minutes and then she seriously took 15 minutes off stage to put on a new dress, while we listened to a half-rate comic .
