The Lady Cocotte’s Pose “Pink Slip” Chinwag

Hot on the heels of an exultant second season announcement, we’re graced with a brand new episode of Pose. According to f/x, “Blanca makes a startling revelation about Lil Papi that changes the House of Evangelista forever. Meanwhile, Elektra rethinks her means of survival when the House of Abundance is evicted from their apartment.” And I have a feeling that’s only a fraction of the drama they’re going to unpack. I can’t recap (#SorryForReals) so let’s discuss the episode in comments. You’re going to have feelings. You’re not alone.

I love your recaps. Sorry for real you cannot do it. TT’s recappers are THE BEST and you three (I’ve only seen three since I found TT) have such distinct voices and style. TT has the best commenters too, so it should be interesting, but I wish you could do it. “Le sigh” as TT would say.

It’s ok. I really enjoy your recaps and I second “Le Sigh”.
I watch “Pose” On Demand, since recording shows during baseball season is a pain.

While Pose is deeply moving to me, I continue to wish there were more shows, showing alternate lives and points of views.

I was raising kids in the 80’s, when moms were still allowed to screw up. We dressed up, danced, posed, all to a multi-gender, multi-cultural beat. God I miss House Music.

Pose reminds me of that impossible glamour anyone could grab a bit of.

I agree Kathy! The 80’s NO CELLPHONES which means our parents didn’t have a leash & no cellphone camera either equals no photo evidence !

Thanks for the love! I’ll be recapping again soon. For now, I’m going to hang out in the comments more. It’s a great community for sure.

I think Blanca did the right thing by kicking Papi out for selling drugs. Her house, her rules. The House of Ferocity seems like a hot mess; but we shall see. I really feel for Elecktra. She put her mind and body first and seemingly lost everything. But she is a smart woman. Hopefully losing her sugar daddy will open her eyes and push her to her full potential.

Y’all the ending off last night’s episode was so heartbreaking. Next week is the finale and I don’t foresee a happily ever after in the future.

This show is tough to watch at times and yet I can’t stop watching. I’m glad to hear there will be another season, but also grateful that there will be a bit of a break.

I do feel confident that Blanca’s little drug dealer will be back home where he belongs on the next episode. I hope that Blanca heals her broken heart in someway. And I need her off the corner.I’m hoping that Damon dances on the finale.

And then there is Elecktra. I can’t stand her speech pattern. I also can’t stand that she has lost everything and is back working the peep shows.

That’s a long wish list for the finale. I’ll settle for no one dying.

So many feels, and so much drama. I’m hoping that lil papi makes his return to the House of Evangelista, somehow I don’t see the House of Ferocity making it very long, both the mothers seem to just want the accolaides that trophies, and the balls bring. In some ways i feel bad for Elektra, yet not so much. It is sad to see karma had a way with her. She stole the stolen xmas money, didn’t pay the rent for her House, and overall nasty demneor has made its way back. She has lost everything in her goal to become a full woman. Im hoping the finale next week isn’t too heartbreaking, i can see that there is some strong foreshadowing on the drug front, since Blanca has repeated talked about how it is poisoning the community. I have a horrible feeling that it might take Angel down, we ended an episode with her riding off with a “john”, heartbroken, and feeling a tad bit betraited. I would have though that a ball would of been too much for Stan as his first foray into the LGBTQ community. Way too shocking for a white boy not from the city. Blanca was right to kick lil papi, out, not only would the temptation be there for his house sibillings, but the dangers of police, nemesis dealers, or those looking for drugs could have distastrous consequences. I miss your recaps Ms The Lady Cocotte

It took me a couple of eps. but then I really liked this show. It’s so interesting.

I agree TT. Elektra’s speech is different. I can’t decide if it’s an accent or what?

I love that Stan’s wife didn’t know the truth about Angel. That was great.

This episode broke my heart, as have several this season. I know Angel’s bf is f’d up. Calling him a closet case is an inadequate description. But I still wanted the fantasy of them being together. I want someone on this show to have something good happen to them.

I agree with Tamara, Pose is hard to watch sometimes, but I still love it. So happy there will be a Season 2. Stories like these should be told.

It makes my heart happy so many of us are watching. Like you said, these stories should be told.

First of all, I LOVE this show. And I hate all people equally regardless of their ethnicity or gender ID. That said, I really wish they could have found beautiful trans ladies who could actually act. I guess that is a tall order. They had no choice but be authentic, but the acting is just SO bad. Especially Electra with her already overdone inunciation. Adding reciting line form a script to that is painful. But I love the stories and the sets and the costumes. There is so much that is heartbreaking with some uplifting and comic moments here and there. I’m addicted. I have to force myself to overlook the acting. One other bit that I struggle with: they often use slang that did not exist during the 80s. Again, I need to get over it.
