I’m really not up to this recap at the moment but my TV is refusing to let me use On Demand. I tried resetting the box and now I have no guide information and no idea what is on. So I’m going to hope this episode puts me in a better headspace.
Maddie is dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and so are dozens of other women all in the same dress. I guess this is how she plans on getting away with murder. Meanwhile The Doctor is on his way to get his award. He chats with Sally on the phone and says he wants to facetime with the bumblers (TOV) after his reception. He also tells her that with regard to the FBI they need to be prepared to run the periwinkle option.
Apparently, the Marilyns are going to be servers at the awards dinner. The TOV have their own ridiculous disguises. Richard’s is particularly bad. The guys start spreading rumors that The Doctor is going to be the new big shot in the group and everyone starts kissing his ass. My brain is functioning at about 20% today and I am already confused. Where does the TOV think Maddie is and how is she being ignored by everyone to just have her own little assassination plan? How did the guys not recognize Jules in her disguise, didn’t they all leave the house together? She’s where the same ugly dress she was wear when they were at the house chatting about the bad sex that Ezra had with Maddie.
I have no idea what is going on. Why do they need The Doctor’s fingerprints? Why are they making imprints of his keys? Next we see Maddie headed for The Doctor with a syringe and Sophia has to stop her. The Doctor is confused about why Sophia attacked a Marilyn and the “she tripped me” explanation doesn’t really fly. Mattie flees the reception and the TOV go back to the house with Sally and Max. The next thing you know they are Facetiming with The Doctor. I am not following this episode at all. Ezra shows The Doctor the ring and the TOV think this ends their tenure with The Doctor. The Doctor has long term plans for them. Where is Sophia? Where is Maddie? Why did The Doctor say all their families are fine if Ezra’s dad is dead?
Then out of nowhere, Sally shoots Max multiple times and he appears to be dead. Only he is not. The Doctor wants to use his body to make people think he has died. Le sigh.
Cut to Ezra and Richard pretending to be FBI agents serving a warrant to The Doctor’s father to search the house. Because why not?
Shelly Cohen gets on the elevator with Jules at the hotel. Shelly pretends to wonder where they have met before. When he gets off the elevator he says, “See you soon macaroon!” This freaks her out because that is what Lenny said to her when she first dropped her off at the cabin in New York. She follows him to The Doctor’s suite where he opens the door to greet, “Mr. Cohen.” Again, where the hell are Maddie and Sophia?
Maddie shows up at the coffee shop where Sally is for a bit of girl talk. Maddie tries to get Sally to help her kill The Doctor, but Sally says death is too good for him, she wants him to suffer. Then two scenes later, she kills The Doctor.
The TOV and Patrick show up to find The Doctor dead. They presume that Maddie did it. But Maddie is being chased by Shelly, and Sophia is tied up in a closet. Jules spontaneously appears out of thin air to knock Shelly out with a champagne bottle. Perhaps only 10% of my brain is working because this seem like the most disjointed, hot mess of an episode I’ve ever seen.
If the plan was not to kill The Doctor, then why were they going to all the trouble to make fake fingerprints to get in the safe deposit box? Patrick tracks down Maddie on a bus headed to Rochester and arrests her for crimes she did not commit. Max and the TOV divide up all the money from the safe deposit box. Max holds on to Sally’s share. I guess Maddie and Sophia don’t get a cut?
The TOV says their teary goodbyes and plan to meet up at a Brooklyn coffee shop in three months. A kid brings Ezra a note and he heads to a motel to meet her.
Ezra gets a phone call on one of The Doctor’s burner phones. He pretends to be The Doctor. It seems that Ezra and Sophia will still be in the game.
This was not supposed to be a season finale. So we are basically just left hanging. Sorry for the late and very crappy recap. I hope y’all enjoyed the episode more than I did. Thanks for sticking with me til the bitter end.
Perfect recap, even at 10%. That was a hot mess of an episode.
You’re right, it was the most disjointed episode of the season.
Is it weird I loved it? I really want a third season
Nah, I just wasn’t in the mood for it.
I’m glad others are side eyeing this last epi. I thought it was me not focusing and figured I’d catch it on replay. Maybe there is something in the atmosphere because the shows I usually am saying shh I need to see this and rewind multiple times I’ve just glided through and come here for recaps and comments.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this series and I do.
I loved GFGTD…they lost me for a season but I went back and am excited to watch the end.
It’s gotta be the torrential nonstop rain here or if it’s not raining it’s seriously 106-110 heat index. Here’s hoping my rewatch reignites my Shh Imposters is on. Thanks for the recap
I think it was one of those cases of, we might be cancelled, so we sort of need to tie up some loose ends. As of now, that was the end, but they are trying to shop it around to other networks.
On a different note, I saw the first Episode of American Woman (Kyle’s show that her sister is hella pissed about) and it did not suck!
I also watched Dietland on A&E and it was good too. It is going to be one of those where I have to pay attention to it and not play on my phone when it is on.
I really enjoyed American Woman too. I’m looking forward to the full season.
I really liked Dietland. American Woman was just ok in my opinion. I hope it gets better, it seems like it might. It was a slow half hour premiere though.
I was okay with the finale. At least it wasn’t the cliffhanger I was expecting and the characters story lines were wrapped up. I missed who had the ring in the end, not that it really matters.
Thanks for recapping TT even when you are not feeling it. This has been a depressing week. Maybe a tomato talk post so we can try to lift each other up. I always enjoy those.
The ring was planted on the “Doctor” and then the FBI agent found it on the “Doctor”.
TT, I’m surprised you got this up at all. Thank you. It was an odd episode. I agree about them knowing it may be the last episode ever, so they tried to wrap some things up.
It was bugging me that Sally left the syringe with her fingerprints on it. Or did she have gloves on? I’d like to think Max and her will meet up at the boat from Season 1. I don’t like Ezra egging on Ernie in Cincinnati. I thought he had a poet’s heart? Not once did he inquire about his Mom or brother’s well being. What happened to Arthur? Becoming the Doctor is not a good look for Ezra.
I loved when Richard was talking about Max when he thought he was dead. I think the actress who played Jules is awesome. She has great comedic timing. Would love to see more of her in something else. I don’t want to see the TOV broke up.
Sad to see it end. Thank you, again, TT for your 2 years covering this show. Thank you to all the Imposters commenters who made this such a fun ride.
I highly recommend Pose. I watched the premiere yesterday to get myself out of a funk. It worked. WOW, the scene where the dancer tries out for the School of Dance left me speechless and emotional (I’m a good way.)
Over.
It was a fun ride radchick. Over was so funny I am going to occasionally use it when I see your posts. It should not die with the end of the show.
Over
For now lol
Girl I totally agree with you. We should honor “over” and never let it die until the show returns! It has to return, right?
Over!
Yes thank you TT for sticking with the recaps.
I also could not get into this episode. Ive been immersed in the Anthony Bourdain marathons. What a man. I have no other words
I too thank you all for making this such a fun show to watch. I’ll miss the weekly commentaries. I hope that if this show lives on they have some sort of prequel that explains all the questions we’ve had. How did the doctor get into this? Why were the TOV chosen? What’s up with Lenny Cohen.. even Shelly Cohen…? Such great characters. I’ll miss them all
I almost didn’t watch this episode because I’m so bummed that it’s cancelled. Wonder if they knew it was going to be cancelled before filming? Seems like they tried to wrap up all of the story lines. I hope we see the TOV in the Brooklyn coffee shop. I’ll really miss this show!
Me too AAL. I almost didn’t watch it either. I was going to save it for when the Imposters cravings hit hard so I had an unseen episode to watch.
I’m hoping everyone here signs the petition. Just Google Bravo’s Imposters petition.Bravo
Over.
They did not know that the show was cancelled when they filmed and were looking forward to a third season. Many of the actors are on social media asking fans to rally. The problem is that hardly anyone watched this show and the production budget had to be high with all those outstanding actors.
I am kind of shocked that they didn’t get another season since Andy was fawning all over the lead and kept saying it was one of his favorite shows. I guess Andy didn’t try to fight to keep this show on the air. I wish that they had let season 3 be the final season with a perfect ending. For not getting another season this ending works.
I don’t know what I have to do to explain to y’all that Andy Cohen doesn’t have anything to do with programming at Bravo.
Katherine LaNasa “Sally” is going to be on the next episode of American Woman!
It was a good ep, all things considered. Like with all the other Imposters episodes, you can’t really be multitasking while watching, otherwise you’ll miss something. Things happen in this show, and you often don’t know why until later. A lot of the questions early in this recap are answered later in the episode.
