Killing Eve Recap: I Don’t Want To Be Free

May 22, 2018 by tamaratattles 12 Comments

Killing Eve Recap Ever and Villanelle thinking of each otherThe episode begins the morning after Nadia was killed and Villanelle was thrown in the hole with little chance of Konstantin actually showing up to get her. Eve is heading down for breakfast at the hotel when she runs into Carolyn doing the walk of shame. Apparently, she’s spent the night with Vladmir because she said he has had a change of heart and is willing to let them take Nadia. Too bad she is dead.

Carolyn gets a phone call saying that Nadia has been murdered in prison. But hey, there is good news, the breakfast buffet is open! So off they go for breakfast with Konstantin. He’s really enjoying the sausages. Eve demands to interview the inmate who killed Nadia.  Konstantin gets up and tells Carolyn he has enjoyed seeing her again. So she was probably with Konstantin and not Vlad the night before. He suggests they both go home. He tells Eve she is welcome to stay but she hasn’t been invited. Whatever that means.

Eve and Carolyn wander into a hidden underground office space. Is that Kenny? How did he get there? When Eve says it is their new home away from home, Carolyn says, “Sorry about the smell.” Again, Eve seems unbothered by the smell, because psychopath.

Our other psychopath, Villanelle is enjoying some yard time with a guard. She tries to get a phone call but instead she gets strong-armed back to the hole.

Killing Eve Recap Villanelle and Prison guard Russia

Kenny And Eve Disobey Carolyn

Back in the new headquarters, Eve is on to The Twelve and suspects that Villanelle killed Nadia. She says Nadia must have had something good on The Twelve. Carolyn is discounting her theory. Because, double agent? Kenny says he can hack into the jail security cams and Carolyn shoots that down. Eve wants to find Anna to get more information on Villanelle. Guess who doesn’t like that plan either? If you guessed Carolyn you are correct. Then she tells Kenny to get a ticket for himself and Eve to fly home. She will follow them soon she has some more things to tie up.

Kenny and Eve both decide not to leave. Kenny has some letters for Eve to look at.

Villanelle Kills Another Inmate

The guard takes Villanelle back to the hole, but there is someone else in there! She tries to explain to the guards that there are no cellmates in solitary confinement. They simply tell her to be nice to Inga. Inga doesn’t seem very warm and fuzzy to me. Apparently, Inga was sent to kill Villanelle. Villanelle eventually just kills Inga by biting through her jugular vein. Then she is dragged out of her cell to see a visitor.

The letters that Kenny has are love (sex?) letters between his mother and Konstantin. They are from 1977-8 so that was about 40 years ago. This means that their tryst could not have been during the time Kenny or Villanelle were born. So that theory seems out unless they hooked up again later. He also has a few photos of them together. He also has Anna’s address and she immediately wants to go track her down. Eve tells him if he wants to go back to London, that’s fine. He says he staying and wants to look into the prison security cams. He will not be telling his mother.

Eve Visits Anna

Anna seems like a salt of the earth college professor. She thinks Villanelle/Oksana is dead and Eve lets her continue to think that. She says she has some letters from Oksana and offers to let Eve see them.

Villanelle’s visitation is not at the prison at all she is being taken somewhere by van. There is some sort of accident followed by a lot of gunfire that leaves more than a half a dozen people dead. Plus the one stupid inmate who didn’t take the chance run and be free because she didn’t want to be free. She was dead before she could finish saying she’d rather be dead than be free. Villanelle seemed thrilled by all the bloodshed that was necessary to save her. She hops on the back of a motorcycle with her rescuer, who remains a mystery due to his helmet. He takes her to an abandoned building and sends her up a few flights of stairs.

Anton Is The New Konstantin…Or Is he?

Villanelle is disappointed that Konstantin is not there. It’s a bald guy named Anton that she doesn’t know. She asks if Konstantin in okay and he doesn’t give her an answer. He says he will be her new contact instead of Konstantin. He has brought her clothes and a postcard with her new target that he says will be challenging.

They will be holding her passport and credit cards until she completes the job. She has until tomorrow night to complete the task. Also she is to speak Russian to him, no more English. As he tells her they will build a special trust, he holdshe  a gun on her. Then turns it around to give her the weapon. She doesn’t seem to like him. I don’t see why she doesn’t just kill him. Neither does she apparently. Because she does just that. She gets on his computer and sees photos of Konstantin. Perhaps he was the target? I’m not sure what to make of this yet.

Villanelle Castrated Anna’s Husband Before Killing Him

Back at Anna’s apartment, Eve is having milk and cake with Anna. I’m not sure I trust Anna enough to eat cake with her. There are a whole lot of letters in her letterbox. Probably  a couple of hundred. There are also photos and a perfume bottle. Apparently, Anna was in a relationship with her. Villanelle seduced her. She sent her expensive designer clothes, and perfume. That sounds familiar.

Villanelle told Anna that the only reason she loved her husband was because he had a penis. Anna told her she might be right. Is anyone else concerned for Eve’s husband’s penis at this point? Because I am. Anna came home from work one day and there were tons of flowers and a big cake (wait, cake?) and then she showed her what she had done to her husband. She told her like it was a good thing. Anna has hair that is a lot like Eve’s. Anna also seems to be trying to fake emotion about her husband’s death. Her story is not believable. I believe she is a psychopath too. Villanelle has a type. Psychopaths with really good dark hair.

Anna Is Still In Love With “Okasana”

Eve tells Anna that Okasana is not really dead and she is working with a group of bad people and she is believed to currently be in Moscow. Anna seems a bit happy to hear this news. Eve has a photo of Konstantin, Carolyn and some others from years back and she show the photo to Anna and asks her if the man who came to her door and told her Oksana was dead was in the photograph. She identified Konstantin.

Next we see Konstantin coming home to his house. His young daughter calls him upstairs. He goes up to follow is voice and a tent fort has been made with sheets. He remarks like it looks like a beautiful sausage. Again with the sausage! In the fort, of course he finds Villanelle. She has a recording of his son’s voice in her hand. He is shocked. She points the gun at him and with a very sad face says, “You’ve never called me sausage before.”

Eve Does Have Some Sense of Smell

Anna brings Eve a coat that she found on her doorstep a month after Villanelle supposedly died. She goes back into the kitchen and Eve SMELLS the coat, and has a huge reaction. If our theory is true, and Eve is a psychopath with a poor sense of smell, the coat must smell VERY bad for her to be able to detect it so strongly. Eve finds money and a passport for Villanelle under anther name. Marta Poslovina. She shoves that into her handbag. Anna says she can have the coat if she wants it. She will never wear it. Eve says she thinks it should stay there. She gives Anna her number and tells her to call if if Villanelle shows up.

Villanelle Plans To Kill Konstantin

Villanelle tells Konstantin about Anton trying to get her to kill him. She tells him Anton is dead. Konstantin thanks her for killing Anton and begs her to let his wife and daughter go free. He asks if he make things easy for her (killing him) if she will let his family live. They begin discussing how he wants to die. He sells he has pills and loves a proper whiskey in a proper glass. Villanelle wants the names of the twelve. He says he is not a keeper. There are a few people who are keepers of the names but he is not one. He has lied to her about a few things so far. Like who really wanted to keep her in prison. Villanelle has him taking the pills and drinking the whiskey.

Konstantin says he is proud of her, he loves her, he loves her more than the house, more than his family, she is the best thing that ever happened to him, the organization and to the future. He cries and says she is more powerful than other people because of what she has inside her. She continues to tell him to take he pills. She has tears in her eyes. He toasts to “dignity in death” and kills off the rest of the whiskey. Then he throws the heavy glass hard at her face and hits her with a log and makes a run for it.

You Hit Me With A Log!

She keeps saying, “You hit me with a log.” She chases after him shooting recklessly, but he makes it to his little boat dock and takes off across the water. They both flip the other one off. She screams that she is going to skin his family alive.

So. Um. Good talk?

Speaking of good talks. Eve has finished up with Anna and is leaving with cake to go. Anna says if she finds Villanelle she would really like to know. She would like to see Oksana again. She wants to forgive her. She thinks it would really help her. So many lies on this episode. Soooo many lies. Then Anna says, “Be careful. You’re her type.” Oh, she already knows that Anna! They say their kind goodbyes and Eve turns around and asks if she ever had sex SSeaswith Oksana. Anna answered with a loud and furious, “NO!” And slams the door in her face. So um, yes. Obviously.

Niko Is Still Ignoring Eve

Eve immediately calls Niko and professes her undying love and devotion to him via voice mail. He is still not taking her calls.

Eve goes back and downloads Kenny on the whole situation with Anna. She repeats that she sent Anna clothes and perfume too. He says she sounds jealous. He also suggests she keep her husband’s todger locked up. I agree. Eve wants to call Nico again. Is he already dead? They are watching prison videos. Eve sees Villanelle. She goes to meet her visitor, and it is Carolyn. Eve and Kenny are shocked. I am not.

Next Week: It’s the season finale and  the last Killing Eve Recap. Eve and Villanelle go face to face again.

What a damn good episode, but like you said, too many lies. I wonder if Carolyn is innocent and was told Villanelle is there by Vlad, and that’s why they had to move her out of there? It seems too obvious for Carolynto be one of the Twelve, eventhoughwe’vr been suspecting it. I wonder why that coat smelled bad… maybe gathering dust and smells for years or if it was something else. Also, that makes me think Anna can’t smell Either, so yea, her type is secret psychopaths who think they’re good people with big fuzzy black hair.

In the previous episode Eve told Vlad that Konstantin gave Carolyn the plutonium info when she let him take the fall, which screwed with his career so he is not pleased with her and I feel like we might see some result of that.

I really enjoy the writing for this show. I kept laughing when Villanelle was yelling “You hit me with a log?!”

I don’t think Eve’ s husband is dead…yet. That would be something Villanelle would do but she’s been in Russia. Now, if they get back to England and their mutual infatuation continues, he’s definitely in danger of losing his knob.

So, you’re saying Villanelle is not Konstantin and Carolyn’s love child? I thought V was his kid and that’s why he doesn’t kill her when he has had so many chances to do so.

I love your recaps of this. You are far more clever than I! I had no idea Carolyn might be a double agent. Or that Eve might be a psychopath herself. I am addicted to detective shows but still get surprised when the writing isn’t predictable, plus, I’m still naive. Psychopaths are fascinating…from afar!

So good! I have been dying for your recap….great job too! Okay so so so many things. I agree about Anna….she probably trained her, turned her into that. Anna could see potential. I don’t know she was just creepy too. The smell thing was all over this episode, it was funny and I laughed because I probably would not have picked up on it if you had not mentioned it originally.

The Konstantin thing was bizarre. I just think that Vlad is in the 12, found out about the thing that Eve told him about and wanted him killed because of it. So is Carolyn part of the 12 or just didn’t want Eve shouting at anymore Russians and sent her home? Maybe she decided to meet Villanelle herself and get her out of jail, but then the 12 got her out of that.

The husband is just pissed and ignoring her calls I assume. That might be next week.

So good and I can’t believe it is almost over.

Does anyone remember why Kenny and Elena were not invited to Moscow in the first place? I’m particularly interested in why Elena didn’t come. Is the the mole to The Twelve?

I also really think that Nike is dead and dodgerless. It’s not like him to not be quick to make up with Eve. I can see the very end of the finale being Eve finally going back home after whatever happens, in Paris finally happy to be home and discovering him mutilated in the apartment. Not quite sure how Villanelle would have been able to get to him though what with being in prison most of the time.

Also, Anna is probably going to end up dead as well. And she is probably one of the 12.

They did not go because they didn’t want too, Eve invited them. They both acted all crazy, uncomfortable and nervous like they were scared to go. Maybe it was just that or something else going on. Hum

I keep thinking too that he is alive and is just being mad she went so he is ignoring her calls. Do you think Villanille will kill Konstantin?

Yes so curious about where the story will lead with Anna. She has to be killed, there is no place for her. Time to go back to London and kill the husband.

Niko is always very quick to try to make up after an argument. I don’t think he is the ignore her phonecalls type. Especially since he knows she is in a dangerous position.
If Kenny was invited but didn’t want to go, what changed his mind? What excuse did Elena give?

Oh my gosh……Never thought about it that way!!!! You are on to something. Trust no one! Humm..they both just rambled on and on like, oh should stay here, oh we are busy here, etc. it looked like they were scared, or planning on getting together. The thing that changed Kenny’s mind, I assume was Mom called him in.

OhI need to go watch that again! Your right he came with the letters and must have called his mom to say he came to help.

I have been recording Imposters and Trust, but have not watched them yet. I will need to binge watch them to catch up.

I took the “sorry about the smell” gag differently. There was no smell. It was just Carolyn being insulting to her son.
