I could have sworn I saw the last episode of Trust on my DVR just today, but it appears it was deleted somehow. So now I have to watch it On Demand. This will make recapping hard because I usually can’t really pause shows On Demand.
Primo and his sidekick pull up to Leonardo’s house with young Paul back in the trunk of the car. Poor Leonardo is just trying to get his wife and kid ready for his son, Francesco’s confirmation. He does not have time to talk Primo down at the moment. Primo wants to kill young Paul, but Leonardo convinces Primo to hide him in a cave until they can come up with a plan. Then it is off to the confirmation. All of this episode so far has been in Italian with English subtitles. If this keeps up this recap is going to take forever because I can’t take my eyes off the screen. Salvadore is behind Leonardo as the entire mafia is confessing their sins. Leonardo tells him what he wants to hear in order to get through the confirmation ceremony for his son. But he’s going to be irate when he finds out the truth. Leonardo’s wife begs him not to tell Salvadore the truth today. He can kill them just as easily tomorrow.
At the celebratory meal after the confirmation, Leonardo gives a toast saying that he wants his boy to go to college and follow a different path than he did. Salvadore has a different plan for Francesco. He gives him a knife that belonged to his father. But since he has no children, he is passing it on to Franceso who he sees as a son. Basically, he was welcoming him into the mob.
Meanwhile, the townspeople want to know why they haven’t seen any of the money they were promised yet. It’s a very tense episode. Angelo’s grandmother shows up to confront Salvadore about her grandson’s death. Leonardo’s wife takes her aside and let’s her know that Angelo is dead. The two bond over being oppressed by the mafia. Then Leonardo’s wife puts on her happy face and goes to dance with Sal.
Some boys told Francesco they saw his dad coming down the mountain with Primo. Francesco wants to go up the mountain to see what he was doing but the boys don’t go with him because it is getting dark soon. The super nervous tax attorney is grabbed by Sal for an interrogation and spills his guts. Sal goes to get Leonardo and asks him why he shouldn’t kill him right here in front of his entire family. Sal goes off on Primo and Leonardo. Leonardo’s wife shows up to try to take the blame but that only makes things worse.
Meanwhile, Francesco has left his own party with his new knife to go to the cave near the goats. He finds young Paul tied up and begging for water. Francesco leads him to a water pen for the goats. Paul has accepted his fate that he is going to be killed and his family doesn’t care about it. After talking to Francesco about his mother and peanut butter, Francesco takes him back to the cave.
The mob guys are all blaming each other for the fuck up. Primo even blamed Sal to his face. Everything has gone to hell in a handbasket. Leonardo’s wife asked them what the hell they have become. Meanwhile, Francesco overhears that Sal is going to kill Paul. He takes Paul some food, cuts him free and tells him to run. Paul doesn’t run though. Instead he begs Francesco to cut off his ear and post it so his family can see. Francesco doesn’t want to. Meanwhile the hold men are slowly headed up the hill. Francesco uses the knife Sal gave him to cut off his ear.
The final scene is of young Francesco in his confirmation suit offering the mob, including his father a bloody ear.
That should get us up to date for tonight’s episode. Sorry for the delay, I was operating at half speed all week. There are only two episodes to go!
