Married At First Sight: Reunion Special

May 2, 2018 by tamaratattles 7 Comments

It seems they have stopped calling it the six month check-in after it got out that it wasn’t really six months later on previous seasons. Yep! They just admitted that this is only one week after decision day. ONE WEEK! How could anything have changed since then other than Shawniece getting pregnant? Even that probably hasn’t happened yet. What is the point of this? AND it’s an hour and a half long!

I don’t know why Molly and Jon are there. How many ways can they say, “We tried. We’re divorcing. We hate each other?” Shawniece tries to encourage Molly and Jon to keep trying. Jon says he has no interest in staying in an abusive marriage.

Shawniece says she and Jephte love differently. She is fearless and just puts it all out there. Jephte says,”That’s dumb.” Pastor Calvin calls him out for that. Jephte doesn’t see the beauty in someone who can just be very open and loving right off the bat. The counselors ask them to turn toward each other. They ask Jephte to tell Shawniece what the best part of being married to her is. He says he feels put on the spot, so Shawniece steps in to rescue him and says she will do it. She starts to tell him the best part of being married to him and gets choked up. She has lots of things to say but the gist of it is that he wants to work on their marriage and make it theirs and it doesn’t have to follow anyone else’s model. She’s crying (of course). He says he should have gone first. He says he thinks she is a great person and she has a lot of qualities that he lacks. He says his heart is opening up to her. That last part took a bit of prodding from Pastor Calvin. The look on Shawniece’s face is pure love and happiness.

The more Jaclyn talks about what she wants in a guy, the more she describes Jon. Those two would be a great match. Jaclyn’s description of Ryan’s qualities are basic. He’s a good person, he’s smart, he’s funny. This whole segment is hard to watch. I don’t believe either one of them. I think Ryan really, really, likes being on TV.

There is something weird going on with the guys. I don’t think Ryan and Jon like each other. We do finally see some unseen footage. Shawniece and Jephte were laughing in all of theirs except when they were on a chair lift and Jephte was terrified.

Jon’s friend Meghan shows up to weigh in on her thoughts about the breakup. They play the video of Molly at the bar with another guy belittling Jon. Meghan says it takes a lot for Jon to get to the point where he feels the need record a conversation. Molly goes into victim mode again.

This is almost as bad as the RHOA “Anniversary Special.” It’s just a bunch of clips.

Jephte’s friend Antonio shows up. This guy needs to be a counselor on the show next season. He gave Jephte great advice. When the talk about Jephte’s mom, Shawniece says on the plane there she talked to her and told her she is her family now and needs to start calling her. Shawniece said that Jephte hasn’t given her the number. Jephte’s face seemed to be saying he didn’t want those two talking. Antonio is still advising both of them. He is literally holding the marriage together. Every marriage needs and Antonio. Jephte and Shawniece have made their marriage permanent by getting matching tattoos. I can see that being a big statement by Jephte. They both got the number 8 for eight weeks in the show, they got married in the eighth month, she was born in 1988, 88 was his football number, he has 8 brothers and if you turn it sideways it’s the infinity symbol. I don’t understand why Antonio left just before Shawniece and Jephte announce they are pregnant. Wait, before they went to break I could have sworn they said Shawniece and Jephte had a big announcement. Then they end the show and have a segment from two months later.

OMG. How they got the cameras there to film Shawniece telling Jephte about the baby was worth the entire boring episode.

On to the Dallas season!

Guessing this was a “reunion” at the end of the season. Hopefully we’ll still get a 6-month follow up on these couples, and truly hope Jon finds a special lady, and do agree – he deserves one like Jaclyn.

Unfortunately I don’t see Ryan and Jaclyn in a lasting relationship. He’s too immature and wanting to please his bros instead of his wife. Not hard to see why he hasn’t been able to stay in a relationship.

I’m thinking Jefte and & Shawneice will be together for the long-term. They need each other and they complement each other.

I think the advisers got a lot of information from this reunion that will help them with future seasons.

I hope Jephte and Shawniece make it especially now that she’s pregnant! Jon deserves better than Molly…I still don’t understand why she was on the show at 25 hanging onto some bs ‘no physical attraction’…I’d like to see her history because she’s skeletar meets Stacie (barbies bootleg little ‘sister’) and she sucks. She was such a cold bitch…Jaclyn deserves better or so I thought. If she is happy with Ryan and really wants this to work…good for her. But hes pretty awful and I’d be fine if I never saw or heard anything about Ryan again.

I’m happy for the couples that decided to stayed together. I pray Ryan matures and put his wife before his boys. I pray Shawniece stop crying and jephte shows more affection and love to his wife. Molly is a boring cold ice berg. John stay away from that fake skinny chick. You will find someone who’s loves you the way you are.

July 10, 2018 – Season 7, Episode 1/2 – the couples look well matched on paper, but look what a disaster last year was.

This year, Amber Martorana, 36, and Dave Flaherty, 37. He’s ready to settle down and financially secure; she wants a baby but is hesitant to trust, wants someone kind and outgoing, hates guys who are arrogant or judgmental.

Danielle Bergman, 30, and Bobby Dodd, 27. He wants a marriage like his parents had – close to his mom, calls himself romantic and tries to make his partner happy. She’s well-traveled and independent, looking for someone motivated, easygoing, humorous and trustworthy. Trusts the process.

Mia Bally, 29, and Tristan Thompson, 29. Mia’s parents are married long-term, she’s religious, and wants someone who shares her faith, as well as being loyal, humorous, and a good communicator. Tristan is ex-semi-pro basketball player. Also wants humor, loyalty and good communications, as well as someone who will fit in with his strict Baptist beliefs. Wants marriage like his grandparents have.

Look like three nice couples – nothing right off the bat that jumps out as a huge red flag. Let the experiment begin.
