Jenna and Cale
After the family meetings last week, these two are actually pretty close. Their challenge talks about pulling weight. They seemed to have the most physical challenges out of all the couples this season. Cale if finally starting to open up with Jenna. He tells her that the reason he wanted to be a lawyer is because his sister was assaulted by a random guy who came to her door saying he had a package. He wants to fight for people in court who have been harmed. Jenna says that she was also assaulted. She was sexually assaulted by a stranger as a child and she didn’t tell anyone. Ah! That explains a lot. #metoo I totally understand Jenna now.
Jenna and Micheal nail their canoeing challenge. They really did work together well. These two are having an amazing comeback.
Final decisions are going to be in Los Angeles. Why? Hawaii is the perfect place for it! Also they are traveling back separately.
After spending a couple of days apart, it is decision day. These two go first. They say nice things to each other. Cale says, “I tried to be the person you wanted me to be.” And she says, “And I just wanted you to be you.” That is the summary of the entire relationship. Cale gave her a Hawaiian Tiki of a god that is supposed to protect her. These two decide to remain friends.
Stephanie and Michael
Michael feels like the families all getting along and approving is a good sign they are right for each other. Stephanie says the relationship is getting more real on the way to Hawaii. She seems to be thinking about more physical interaction.
These two have a survival training challenge. These two are not thrilled with the challenge. They have to build a shelter. Stephanie doesn’t want to touch the logs because she is afraid of bugs. They managed to build a decent shelter. Next they had to open a coconut and drink the water. Finally, they had to find their way out of the jungle. Mission Accomplished.
It’s decision time and it worries me that these two are going second. I was hoping they were the only success story. These two are adorable. Stephanie speaks first and seems to be all in with Michael. Michael is all in as well. They need to go through some spiritual guidance before getting married, but both of their families are here to celebrate.
Stephanie and Ryan
OMG. It looks like Ryan is over Stephanie’s disgusting behavior in Vegas. How is that possible? I hate seeing Ryan being nice to her. God I think these two are going to get married. These two have all the challenges with scary animal. First it was alligators and now they are going swimming with sharks. It’s cage free! I can’t believe they are doing this! They both seem terrified. But they did it!
When they talk about the upcoming decision, he brings up Vegas and she just wants him to let it go and move past it. She’s very cavalier about the whole situation. Ryan says that he has concerns about long distance. She says she is in love with him.
With two days apart Ryan is back in a bad headspace. He is conflicted about his decision. Then he sees the wedding setup and it is really cute. So he is back in. Le sigh.
At decision time she says he is great, he says she is great. He says he doesn’t have the trust in her that he needs to move forward. She says “aside from Vegas, what is the issue.” She keeps wanting to sweep her behavior under the carpet. He says a private conversation they had about how she chose to end the relationship with her ex-boyfriend. She says she had to move out of her apartment because he was stalking her and she has tried to get an order of protection twice. Interesting that they didn’t give her one. Ryan says withholding this kind of information is another issue. He tells her that she needs to call her ex in front of him and make it clear that she wants nothing to do with him. She is freaking out. So they call on Ryan’s phone. The guy answers the phone, “Stephanie? What’s up?” How would he know it was her calling? She tells him that she just wants to tell him that she is moving on. He says, that he knows that he is the one that broke up with her.
What happens next is one of my favorite left at the altar scenes ever. Skip through the first hour of this and go directly to this scene. Selfish Stephanie’s world is crashing all around her. Ryan leaves. Stephanie gets drunk and rambles on to production in glorious fashion. There is much crying and playing the victim.
Alma and Michael
These two had to miss the Seattle trip because Alma’s mother was very ill and they flew to Chicago to be with her. Now they are ready to head to Hawaii. Michael has made it clear, to us at least, he wants to stay in a relationship with Alma.
These two have or rappel one hundred and twenty feet down the face of a water fall. Michael is excited. Alma is a bit apprehensive but willing. She chooses to go first and get it over with. She has a great attitude and does great. Michael has rappeled before so this should be a piece of cake, but he fell about halfway down but was able get his feet under him again. He thinks his arm might be broken. Alma says something about not wanting anything to upset Michael, “on their last day together.”
When they talk about the big decision ahead, Michael makes a toast and starts with, “to all the things we have done together…” and she finishes it “to farewell.” She is so dumping him.
It’s time for the decision. Alma seems very happy. She said she was having fun trying on bridal gowns in the girls green room. Michael said he missed Alma the last couple of days and that it was weird traveling without her. This going well. Alma says she feels safe with him and she hasn’t been hurt once by him. This is the biggest thing for me in a relationship. I never feel safe. So I hope she marries him. I think he is going to propose. I really didn’t see this one coming. He does propose and she says yes! YAY!
Wait! She is going to get married right now? I hope her family is there. I think that they flew in her family and Stephanie and Michael’s family because either one could have proposed. Alma is telling her glam squad she is in love. When she walks out there is no family there. Was her mother too sick to fly? I can’t believe they are getting married without the families. But they did it!
Initially, I thought the concept of this show was ridiculous, but it grew on me. Noticed that they are casting for a second season, which I will definitely watch.
I’m just catching up on this show. That was some crazy drama with Stephanie and Ryan. Though her behavior in Vegas was remarkably inconsiderate, I thought she seemed remorseful afterward, and I thought he should give her the benefit of the doubt and move on. I thought he was super-rigid and unforgiving, and I thought that was a red flag on his part. I probably trust and forgive more than I should, though. Now that all of this ex-boyfriend stuff has come to light, though, I dunno what to think. Is she crazy? Is her ex the crazy one? It doesn’t look good. Maybe they both dodged a bullet.
She is the crazy one. And a stage five clinger. I guarantee you she is stalking Ryan.
I totally disagree, he never said what was on his mind and was a total mommas boy.
