Married At First Sight: Second Honeymoons Part 2

April 12, 2018 by tamaratattles 31 Comments

My DVR decided to only record thirty-three minutes of this show. I have no idea what happened. So I am going to have to recap watching On Demand and I won’t be able to pause the show.

Jaclyn and Ryan

Jaclyn seems to be happy with their road trip to NYC. They get along great as long as Ryan isn’t near his drinking buddies. Or a bar. Jaclyn says she and Ryan had a big fight after the cameras left the night before. Ryan wanted to stay out all night with friends and Jaclyn didn’t want to. Jaclyn gave Ryan the ring back. I think she is done. Ryan takes zero responsibility for his actions.

After they return from New York, these two are not in a good place. Dr. Pepper arrives to try to help. The first thing she says is that Jaclyn looks very sad. Dr. Pepper tells Ryan he is not bending himself to accommodate a wife. Ryan doesn’t talk about making any changes for his wife. But he does say he wants to be married to her. Suddenly that is enough for Jaclyn. Nope. He has to change his lifestyle.  By the end of the show, Ryan and Jaclyn agree they want to stay together.

Jon and Molly

Jon and Molly had a great time at the water park and seem very comfortable with each other. But apparently, Molly is an entirely different person off camera. Once the camera’s left, Molly started talking to a guy at the bar. Jon was not happy with that and started recording with his camera. This pissed Molly off. Jon says that Molly says that he is disgusting and he makes her skin crawl when he touches her. Jon says he has said this before off camera and he can’t take another week of it. Molly mocks him as he is recording and says he is recording so he can get some sympathy. Even is that is true, can you blame him? She’s been a bitch all season!

Jon and Molly have not spoken since the trip. Jon is over the whole thing. Jon is very hurt by the things that Molly said. He no longer wants to share his thoughts and feelings with her.

Dr. Griffin comes to meet with them. She wants to talk to them individually first. Molly goes first and is totally lying. She basically says she doesn’t know what happened. She has no regrets from the fight. She said they rarely fight and she certainly was not fighting dirty. Molly is just lying her face off. In her confessional she says Jon said a lot of nasty things to her.

Jon says that Molly was one wording him and then she just started chatting up another guy at the bar and ignoring her. Jon plays the video.  When Molly comes back she is still in full denial mode. When she sees the video, it is clear she has no recollection of the evening. She says in confessional that she feels like Jon betrayed her and is showing his true colors. She was well aware he was recording and she jumped in front of the camera to mock him for videoing her. Molly is so furious she is shaking. Dr. Griffin calls her out on her lies. They basically decided to split. They will talk again, maybe on decision day. She tells Jon he can’t allow someone to treat him the way she does.

Shawniece and Jephte

These two are still lost in the corn maze. Jephte will not listen to Shawniece at all. Jephte just wants to do everything on his own. Jephte thinks he went out of his way to be romantic? By leaving  Shawniece in the cornfield. On the way back home Jephte is an asshole. He said that Shawniece just wants to fuck up his happiness. Everything is Shawniece’s fault. Jephte says he doesn’t trust Shawniece because he’s only known her seven weeks. Jephte says maybe they should not be together.

Dr. Pepper comes to counsel them as soon as they get back to Boston. Shawniece is letting Jephte drive the narrative. When Shawniece finally opens up she cries. Jephte starts to see her point. Jephte apologizes and in his confessional he says all the right things. But then he keeps on doing stupid stuff over and over.

Every time Jephte fucks up he buys Shawniece roses. This time he bought her a puppy. This is not adult conflict resolution. Shawniece says they are a family now. Just like Jax and Brittany.

There is one episode before decision day. Molly and Jon are clearly not going to make it. The other two still have a shot.

None of these couples should stay together. But I assume Jephte and Shawniece probably will, since they have been set up the whole season to be he next Doug and Jamie. If they don’t make it, I’ll be happy to adopt their adorable puppy. Meanwhile, I find this reality show increasingly addictive!

I was shocked about Molly! It’s really sad, since they do seem to have a lot in common.

Ryan is very selfish. Says so many insincere lovey-dovey things but is completely selfish in his behavior.

Jephte doesn’t seem ready to be married. Poor Shawniece!

I think they need to stop doing this show–it seems now so many who want to participate have a reason why they’re not married on their own. They have some issue or flaw that makes them not good marriage material.

Molly isn’t a genuine person. She’s way too into herself and Jon didn’t seem to have a chance from the beginning. On the other hand, Ryan has the bachelor mentality, through and through, plus he’s a clueless, insensitive douchebag. Jaclyn should run for the hills. So should Shawniece. Jephte is so changeable – she never knows whether he’s really into her or not, and I don’t think he does either.

I agree they’re doing a terrible job picking the couples – they might seem, on paper, as though they’re well matched, but they seem to have huge personality problems that are slipping through the cracks. It really seemed like a waste of everyone’s time this year.

It seems to me that all 6 of them said they wanted to be married and explained their reasons. Ryan wants to be married so he can have sex when he gets home from drinking all night otherwise he is single. Jon wanted it but I can’t figure out Molly at all. She was attracted to him but wouldn’t even kiss him. I think she pulled the same thing as Sheila last season where they put on a show for the cameras and don’t want to look bad….aka human. The one I’m most confused at is Jephte – how did the experts think he was ready for marriage. He said he had never been in a long term relationship and constantly mentions how he needs to take it slow. Dude, that is what dating is for. If you loook at who is still together is it not a great percentage as only 2 marriage still last and they are from season one. Doug and Jaime and Courtney and Jason. So the experts have a terrible track record. Instead of just finding compatible people they should delve into whether they could handle this process.

I don’t get why Jephte at 25 wanted to marry. So young
If I was the parents of these people I would lose it.
      Molly is useless
Shawniece u can do so much better
Ryan Why did you come on this show you clearly want to remain a bachelor

Shoot darn! I commented mid program but it didn’t post! Operator error on my part, ugh!

I thought the session w/Jephte and Shawneice was really good. Any relationship at a deep and committed level needs to communicate effectively. They are new people together and NEED help. I stand by Jephte being paired w/Shawneice. She is completely in. I soo hope it doesn’t hurt her in the process. I’ve seen nothing to indicate that she doesn’t want marriage, family, career all the time being responsible and loving with a partner.

Something is wrong with Molly and Jon’s marriage. We didn’t see it, even on the recording that Jon made of Molly. I think there’s a missing peg. I wondered at first with Jon being unemployed if that was the issue. Umm, a well educated young man who served in the armed forces? Where was the disconnect?

That said? I don’t know a whole lot a ladies that wouldn’t “reward” Jon for the hero, freedom fighting young yum man that he appears to be! What did I miss Molly?

I wonder if Molly has ever had a real relationship with a guy.. She seems like the type that likes to attract a guy to prove she can, but then treats him like garbage. (0ne of those competitive games she loves so much.) Jon needs to get a new girl – and a job.

What you missed is that Molly is doing this only for the TV time. Once the cameras leave she is verbally abusive to Jon because she is a psycho cunt of some sort. That is what you missed.

Very well said. I loved the way Dr. Griffin called Molly a liar – you could tell she’s not used to people calling her on her bad behavior and B/S. Any future boyfriends would do well to watch this show and see her as she really is. Jon deserved so much better – he had lost the race before it ever began, he just didn’t know it right away.

I think Shawniece is a sweetheart, and I really can’t tell what Jephte is going to decide. I was going to say it could just be the editing, but in order to edit, you have to actually say those dumb/thoughtless things in the first place. Fingers crossed for Shawniece that things go well and he’s sincere.

I still think Jaclyn needs to run in the opposite direction from Ryan, and run fast. His whole way of thinking is 180 degrees from what a man in love would normally feel. He would want to be with her instead of his buddies, and wouldn’t need to be told what’s appropriate behavior and what’s not. I remember when my husband and I first started dating, we couldn’t wait to see each other – it was special. There’s nothing special about the way Ryan treats Jaclyn. He’s all promises, and no delivery.

LOL. Exactly. He should have set her straight the first time she treated him like garbage. Unfortunately, judging by the way he looked at her sometimes showed that he appeared to be falling for her — probably because she gave him some kind of hope — and then she snatched it away.

Jaclyn should definitely throw in the towel.
Ryan has no clue what a true relationship is. He may find someone but it’s not going to be Jaclyn, she needs more…Ryan is “check the box” this, is adulthood…? He’ll find some young woman who needs to check off the marriage box too.

Jaclyn is a woman who doesn’t have boxes to check off, she wants to experience life with a partner who respects her and her insecurities, a lover who allows for those insecurities then loves her anyway. A partner that allows her to feel secure. That’s her partner.

We can all do it alone! No one “needs’ a partner! It’s just not as fun (imho). I’m of the thought there’s someone for everyone.

I’m so glad you finally posted this! I was shocked by Molly’s douchey behavior when I watched it on Tuesday, and I’ve been waiting to see everyone’s reaction.

I cannot for the life of me understand what Molly’s issue is. The girl who smilingly admitted to a threesome is cold as a dead fish to a really hot, educated, adventurous, interesting, and truly nice guy. I have wondered if she was molested, and I’ve wondered if she’s a sociopath – her behavior is that bizarre. If he’s been an asshole to her, we haven’t seen it. What we have seen is his patience and humor. What’s funny is that when I see a guy that hot, I tend to assume he’ll be an arrogant prick, but Jon’s proven to be warm and patient.

I want to do an intervention with Jaclin, who thinks that her sadness is a sign that she is feeling something worth fighting for with Ryan. No, sweetie, he’s a selfish, insincere alcoholic, and you deserve someone way better than this. He’s been ditching her for weeks to drink with his friends, and now that he’s in New York for a mini moon, he still wants to whoop it up all night with friends. This is an issue that would never go away. Jaclin deserves a sweet, thoughtful guy, and Ryan deserves rehab.

Jephte – sometime I think he’s starting to grow up, and then he backslides. He needs to be willing to take more emotional risks. She’s crying, but he doesn’t move to comfort her, and instead she moves into his lap. He needs to pursue her. I wish she wouldn’t want him so much. He needs a few more years to grow up.

      I agree too.
Ryan just makes me mad. What did he expect? His wife just waiting on the shelf for him? How selfish. No wonder he never had a serious relationship. Jaclyn didn’t get married to spend her nights alone and lonely. She wants her man by her side. Ryan will never be that. She needs to run.
Jephte, Jephte, Jephte, grow up son. Why you took this on, I have no idea. You are clueless and no way ready to share your life. Shanice is a sweetheart and deserves better.
Molly is a b*tch. Thought so for weeks, but the tape proves it. Poor Jon. I really think he was sincere and wanted to find a compatible wife. So atractive too. I feel bad for him, Molly really screwed him over, constantly flirting then slamming the door. A mean tease. SHE is disgusting. I hope she feels the consequences…

Jephte and Shawneice I noticed that no matter what they go through and come out of, they are able to laugh.
If you’re not truly over it, and don’t care, then you just can’t laugh. Can’t fake it.
They truly authentically can laugh and leave it.
    Good sign.

I think she just was hoping to be a 25 year old reality gal.
It would be interesting to know what other shows, if any, she applied for. (Always thought 25 seemed young to get married, and she just wasn’t into a husband)

Let’s get Jaclyn and Jon together!
Ryan would have a possessive fit. He’s basically said he has no true feelings for her. How’s the next family get together is going to be if they do stay together? I hope her fire fighter brother pops him one. He hasn’t acted like a man should treat his wife through this whole thing. Every half decent move he has had to brag about. And the buying of the ring, out buying everyone and making a show of it, was pathetic. He’s only for Ryan’s ego. I hope her family has an intervention. Ryan is slimy and his ego is beyond me. He is nothing special and Jaclyn is amazing!
