Why Is Abby Lee Miller In A Halfway House? Or Is She?

March 27, 2018 by tamaratattles 33 Comments

Today’s big news is that Abby Lee Miller is in a halfway house. Despite the report from TMZ, I don’t believe it.

Here is the thing. Rich people, or even middle class working stiffs, do not go to halfway houses. Halfway houses help prisoners re-acclimate to the outside world. They get assistance with resume writing, they are sent to job fairs. They are trained on the latest technology, for example they are taught how cell phones work if they are getting out after a long stay. They are helped with finding clothes for job interviews. They may attend classes to learn a trade. There is no way Abby Lee is sleeping on a cot every night singing in and out to go to job fairs.

I believe Abby Lee is going to be on house arrest.  This is from a BOP regulation:

For low need/low risk inmates, home confinement Is the preferred pre-release option . This option is currently under-utilized. Program Statement 7320. 01, Home Confinement, states supervision under home confinement may be provided by contract halfway house services, U.S. Probation or other government agencies.

This is normally accomplished via two home confinement options: placement under the supervision of an RRC or placement in the Federal Location Monitoring (FLM) program operated by U.S. Probation, where available. We must make a concerted effort to utilize these effective community placement options for appropriate inmates. In addition to reintegrating inmates more quickly into their communities, maximizing the use of home confinement for appropriate inmates will help mitigate our critical population/capacity issues.

The basic criteria for home confinement includes:

1) Appropriate release residence (e.g., positive environment free from criminal/drug use activity and a reasonable distance from the RRC , typically less than 100 miles);

2 ) No recent major disciplinary issues . This should be based on sound correctional judgment;

3) Any medical or mental health needs that can be met in the community and funded by the inmate or other documented resources, and

4 ) Secured employment is not required for placement on home confinement.

Placement should occur as close to the home confinement eligibility date as possible.

So as far as I am concerned, I’m going to need a lot more information on this. Because what we are currently being told does not make sense.

Also where to you think Abby Lee goes to eat first? I’m gonna say someplace with fried chicken.

Whether she goes to home confinement or the halfway house, she will check in at the halfway house upon her release from the prison. Then she can return home. I’m almost positive that is how it works. I know someone who works for the BOP and actually does the halfway house monitoring. (I’m purposely being vague) I’ll ask him what’s up with ALM. I’m sure he can find out.

I don’t understand those guidelines. They talk about probation, which is in lieu of jail, as if it is parole, which is a post release sentence.

You’re probably right about that. TMZ likes to sensationalize everything they write. Although, several local politicians in Las Vegas who were sent to prison in the early 2000’s, did have to spend time in a half way house when they were released from prison. I assumed at the time that it was just another way to humiliate them.

Yay!! I’m glad she’s out (wherever) and I don’t think she’ll ever do anything risking her freedom, again.
I hope people are kind to her, she knew she messed up.

Connecticut’s former governor John Rowland was released from federal prison to a halfway house in January. Charles Kushner, Jared’s father, was transferred to a halfway house after a year in prison back in 2006. I think your theory may not hold water.

Maybe not, but it doesn’t follow the BOP rules.

The governor thing was weird too.

ormer Gov. John G. Rowland has been released from federal custody, although it is unclear where he has been placed, according to a federal prison website and sources familiar with his case.

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons, which lists inmates in custody on a website, changed Rowland’s status Wednesday to “no longer in Bureau of Prisons custody.”

The twice-convicted and imprisoned career politician was expected to be transferred late next month to a work release program at a halfway house on Cliff Street in Waterbury — 14 months into his 30-month prison sentence.

If he finds a job, he could be moved again to home confinement. It is unclear if that is where he has been placed or whether other arrangements have been made. SOURCE http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-john-rowland-release-20180117-story.html

Having a job is not required for home confinement.

Kushner went to a federal rehab.

The feds in Jersey are fuming that rogue real-estate mogul Charles Kushner is being transferred from prison to a cushy halfway house a year early – because he claims he’s an alcoholic.

Kushner, who retaliated against his own sister – a cooperating witness to his crimes – by hiring a prostitute to seduce her husband, hasn’t even served half of his two-year sentence, but he already has a sweetheart deal that brings him closer to home and his real-estate empire.

Kushner shaved time off his sentence by admitting that he was an alcoholic, and taking advantage of a program offering residential substance-abuse treatment, The Star-Ledger of Newark is reporting.

It is the only program in the federal prison system allowing inmates to earn credit against their sentences. Meanwhile, federal prosecutors and FBI agents are desperately trying to prove Kushner faked his way into the program, according to the newspaper. Kushner is a very interesting rabbit hole to go down. Unfortunately, I have two shows to recap now and I am so not recovered from my trip to Taco Bell with Banjo.

I bought one of those Taco Bell shirts all the cool kids are wearing but I have no idea where it is. I should probably look in my “grey t-shirt” drawer. I haven’t been doing so good on the getting dressed thing lately.

Me neither. I’m wearing pajamas right now. My mom would call me “slovenly.” Problem is, I gotta leave the house today and walk this poor dog who’s staring at me expectantly.

You know, I’m pissed as I’m reading this because I know for a fact people take advantage of that program. At least not everyone who tries to get in is admitted. There are so many things wrong with the system.

I do know there is a lot of criteria that needs to be met by the inmate but it’s still an easy way out for so many of the wrong people. Just my opinion.

Yes, Joe Giudice’s attorneys had him moved from a prison that didn’t offer the program to expedite his deportation proceedings. It’s all about who your attorney is. Money talks.

I was complaining about abby miller being in a half way house to my neighbor, it seems stupid to even claim she was in there because she doesn’t need a job and she is not a drug addict unless things changed her inside.

Doesn’t make sense that she is in a half-way house. TMZ is notorious for getting stories wrong. She committed a white collar crime. Teresa Guidice never went into a halfway house.

Abby looks terrific. I agree she is not likely at a halfway house. I understand they are very unpleasant places, in not-so-great neighborhoods. Might be worse than a low security prison.

I lived around the corner from 2 side-by-side Federal halfway houses in Hartford in the late 80!s, early 90’s (in a very nice condo). When a dead body was dumped on one of the halfway house’s lawn, it was a sign to move.

I know of someone who was recently released from federal custody in Minnesota and was in a half-way house until he could arrange to get a monitoring device placed on his ankle and make arrangements to get home. I guess it can take a couple of days to get an appointment to get the ankle bracelet. I had always assumed that they were placed before someone left prison, but I guess not.

AH! Finally and answer that makes sense, Mary, Thanks! TMZ has some photos of her inside the halfway house with throngs of other convicts. I always assumed they got an anklet before being released. That’s what they did with Teresa. But she stayed in longer than Abby.
