My entire philosophy of life has pretty much been, “I’m not doing anything I don’t want to do.” Which is often interpreted as “you can’t make me!!!!!” It works for me most of the time, but it also tends to piss off a lot of other people. Especially, the “go along to get along” types.
But as the quote usually attributed to Ben Franklin goes, ““Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
Well gentle readers, I am faced with both impending death and taxes today. Above is the local weather radar with the clear outline of the Dragon of Death heading to my hood, probably before this post is even finished. But I’m not in the mood to die today so I’m going to work on my taxes. Because the weather lady says we really aren’t going to die until Monday. And I can’t die with my taxes not done.
Okay, I am not going to get my taxes done today, but I am going to start gathering my stuff to send to my tax attorney. Apparently, he has moved to an even more inconvenient office in another county and I have to change my service address with the Secretary of State or something by April first. I don’t even know what that means. And someone with my “fuck you, I’ll do whatever I want” philosophy I hate when the government gives me deadlines. Nothing gives me more anxiety than a deadline.
I bought a printer a couple of weeks ago. Today I am supposed to figure out how to magically make it work. I’ve been looking at the box for days thinking, “this seems hard.” I’m thinking today might be the day. I need something to distract me from the Dragon of Death. Besides, yesterday was The Lady Cocotte’s birthday and for her present I’m going to promise to stop emailing her things to print and mail back to me as her present. Because I am nice like that. Life chained to the radiator is worse than you can imagine so give Lady C a birthday shout out on Twitter here and or/in comments below. She does A LOT of stuff around here besides her fabulous recaps of The Walking Dead, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Vanderpump Rules. She’s also my ladysitter. And she does most all of the media for TT. She’s the best. She’s old now, but still, the best. Happy Birthday, Lady C!
I haven’t forgotten about Lent. My revised plan to focus giving up slothfulness is still going. I haven’t been quite as industrious as of late, which I totally blame on the weather, but I’m still plugging along and most importantly, I’m not backsliding. How are y’all doing with your Lent commitments?
And finally, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! I totally forgot about it. I would like to make some corn beef and cabbage today, but I don’t feel like going to the grocery store. I did get my Kroger coupons yesterday which highly motivates me to go because I always save like $50 with them. They are no joke. They are all for things I have purchased before so I often just go in and buy the stuff I have coupons for and add some booze and my shopping list is complete. I just dread checking out at Kroger. It’s almost as bad as getting my teeth cleaned.
Well, the Dragon of Death seems to have missed us for the most part and the sun is starting to peek out of the clouds. I guess I better get to accomplishing some stuff today.
What’s going on in your neck of the woods? I really hope you guys have some good news to report!
