On this final regular episode of 60 Days In word is spreading through the prison system that there are undercover participants in the prison. Colonel Mark is scrambling to get them all out safely. He’s starting with Crazy Eyes. Stephanie could not run out of there fast enough. But she did mention to some girl that there were going to be some big fights in that pod. God the stupid is strong in this one.
Next up is Alan. He wants to get the cop out of there first. Alan is still waiting on his meth. So when they call him to pack up he thinks he the guards are on to him. Then when he leaves he says he is going home to Texas. Nate thinks this is a dangerous thing for him to say.
Next the go to get Emmanuel. Of course he argues with the guards about leaving. Because, Emmanuel. Then Tebow says that Emmanuel is the PoPo. Emmanuel mouths off to Tebow about how close he came to getting his ass beat. And then, suddenly the door shuts and he can’t get out. When they open the door again, Emmanuel yells at Tebow to “Hate up” and Tebow comes charging at the door talking about him being a cop. Andrew is pulled out quickly without much drama. Then Johnny gets pulled. They are all so shocked about leaving. Johnny gets very emotional when he realizes he is really leaving.
Nate is the last one left in. His pod is wondering why so many white people are leaving on the same day. He’s getting nervous and starting to slip up.
It’s time for Stephanie’s interview. She talks about the drugs and says the guards don’t care they are doing it. She seemed to not care when they asked her if she was afraid she would be arrested. She also said since she is a pharmacy tech she knew what was in there. That is such bullshit.
Alan is shocked that someone could be so stupid as to out themselves. Then they ask if there was anything left that he didn’t finish. He said, “Well, yeah, I was trying to buy some meth.” As if this was a perfectly sane idea. He also tells them how shanks are made.
They interview Emmanuel and Andrew together. Emmanuel says there was blood and feces on his wall. Andrew said that he didn’t know how to use the phone so he had to ask an inmate who stole his money. Johnny says he couldn’t handle the inmates disrespecting the female inmates. Really, Johnny? Is that all you’ve got? I hope there were a lot names named and specific details given that we are not seeing.
Ha! In the preview for next week’s reunion, Soledad O’Brien says to Stephanie, “I’m going to say this in the nicest way possible. You come across as a sociopath.” That’s because she is. Then they come for Angele who she calls “ridiculously naïve.” Angele has a major attitude with the Colonel.
This episode was pretty tame, but I am counting the seconds until that reunion.
HA! Crazy Eyes b.k.a. Stephanie the Sociopath!
How wonderfully predictable! After watching the first season, and starting the second one, I always felt like I was watching a “Fatal Attractions” episode – you know the show where people own tigers/big-ass snakes and crocs – until the animals eat them? Anyway, I digress, there was only one way this show would go. Humans are fascinatingly predictable in their unpredictability, and lets face it *most of those in prison aren’t there because they were happy-go-lucky friendly neighborhood people. Just say’n – I think we can all agree we saw this trainwreck coming
I can’t wait for the reunion! I’m dying to know if Angele is still with gabby. I also want to see stephan get called out so bad!
They aren’t together. So Angele ruined the show for absolutely nothing,
That’s a shocker, lol.
It seems to me that whoever was responsible for picking the participants for this show need to be fired, big time! The behavior from some of them was no different than the real inmates – how could they be expected to succeed and not sabotage the whole program? Poorly thought out and dangerous, especially if it was pre-ordained to fail.
First of all, thank you TT for the recap. I got spoiled last week on the quick response. : )
I try really hard to figure out why people do the things that they do. It’s so much easier to watch this on a show than to actually be in the same rooms with these inmates. I try to put myself in their situations. One thing that I came to realize is that the participants would never have the same mindset as the inmates, because psychologically, they still understand that they are not “one of them” and can actually leave at any point. Once the inmates hear about the show, the credibility of anything that the participants said will come under scrutiny.
I saw a clip of what the next week’s show is about; ‘a lot of emotion,.. specifically anger. I bet you a couple of them will be surprised to hear that what they were doing wasn’t such a big deal.
Now that I’ve seen every episode, I’ve decided that I would not survive in jail for very long. ‘Just the lack of stimulus alone would make ME want to jump off of the highest point ‘I could find. Then of course there’s the mentally unhealthy violent folks that you’d have to watch out for. I think they must have purposely kept most of them out of this season by putting them in other pods, but if it was a more real experience (no cameras), it would be more like the first season, or worse.
I am so sad that this show is ending, only one more show! I feel like Angele robbed us all with her stupidity, we might have had more episodes if she had just kept her mouth shut.
That being said, many of the participants were terrible, except for Andrew, Nate and Alan. I love how Andrew says he is going to start dating, he handled two months in prison, he can handle dinner with a woman. His dad is still creepy AF and his hair looks disgusting.
I think it was the same amount of episodes, the editors simply used what they had and stretched it to fit the time they needed to fill. For example: we heard matt whine about his son 100x instead of 50x. Can’t wait til the reunion episode.
Matt’s hair was disgusting!!!
I thought the most disrespectful thing I heard was, Angele said to the Colonel “well, I got my story I came here for, so”
She’s a writer. Obviously she got what SHE needed for her novel or whatever.
Good luck selling it now!!!
Isn’t it interesting how she was proclaiming that we should all just spread more love around, but now it seems pretty obvious that she had only selfish motives in mind.
I’m not sure what she thinks that she can be sharing. It’s not a real jail experience. The worst inmates probably were taken out first… you have cameras… people are putting on a show…. the participants weren’t made to pay for their rule breaking….
If it had been a real experience, I think that she would have been the cause and a participant in real violence, seeing as she seems to want to be the alpha female.
… Fiction, I guess.
I can’t wait to see her and Alan argue. She hates him because he is a police officer. I remember part of the reunion she talks about being shot at, and Alan is like” I can get shot at any given day of week”. Alan is the most passed at her and he has every right to. I think he understands now what it is like on the other side and it will make him better at his job.
I like how she thought her bday was special we all do it its an excuse to eat sweets! No one really cares
Exactly.
She really gets my goose with her eat shit grin. I can only hope she fades into the obscurity of a Target cashier, but I doubt we will be that lucky 🙁 She is only about herself and those are the worst kind of people. I really really hope charges are leveled against her but I doubt anything will come of it. She would just spin it as some blow against black lesbians everywhere and try to make it some sort of human rights clicktivism campaign. We all lose when self-centered narcissists like her are involved in group activities like 60 Days In is designed to be.
While I am here, I would also like to express my disgust with Stephanie’s weird, jars of pee collecting ass’s sociopathic and creepy behavior. Lil skeezer…
Seeing as this season is almost over, I thought I’d bring up some stuff that I had noticed along the way. Can anyone tell me if I’m the only one who thought that Matt pushing clothes under the door to his son and then magically going home the next day would have been suspicious to the other inmates? To me, that was taking another big unnecessary chance at having something come back to his son. Also, what about when they called Bucchi’s name to go home. He acted like he didn’t want to leave. Yah.. that looks normal. Not!
And talking through the door to him. Did nobody think that was suspicious! Those two had the lamest cover story of all.
I am glad that they left Nate for a few extra days. Pulling him the same day as Andrew and Alan would have been dicey. I think they all have every reason to be pissed with Angele. I really liked her at the beginning of the season and thought she could be the female version of Nate. But, no. She was so stupid and naive. It seems that she and Stephanie will not be let off the hook at reunion and I am ready for it!
1. Evidently Matt doesn’t wash his hair at home either.
2. Loved Johnny’s bro handshake
3. Is production going to let Stephanie know that she’s not in a competition b/c apparently she thinks so. The first thing she did was put in her colored contacts, before taking a shower or anything. Not what I would do, but okay.
4. Angele, just ugh. No words. Shitty entitled attitude and dumb to boot.
5. Alan was looking crazy at the end.
So sad this is coming to an end but can’t wait for the finale!
Agree on Johnny’s handshake.
He’s such a cool ex-gangster.
I hope he got everything he needed from his time in there.
Gabby had her Mom reverse dial Angele. Angele in her interview says “I got the story I came here for” everything else be damned. What story did she cine their for? Sad the end is here because of her foolishness but can’t wait for the reunion….Soledad is throwing punches!
Did anyone else die laughing at Emmanuel when he ran his mouth about beating Tebow’s ass and then the door slammed shut and all the gang members were laughing hysterically?!? Best part of Emmanuel’s time in the jail, was seeing the, oh shit get me outta here, look on his face 🙂
I am appalled at how callous Angele was toward the Colonel and Sargent! So rude of her to continue to dismiss their concerns about the program. TT I love your recaps, couldn’t wait to read this today!
Anyone think Angele didn’t really “fall in love” with Gabrielle but said that to play her part in jail, for her “book” she wants to write?
That was great. He is the guy that is trying to get in a fight but only if there are bouncers or bigger guys to “hold him back”. Case in point, he started taunting Tebow as he is walking out the door. Lame
I know…
I have a feeling Stephanie’ mother knew she would be embarrassed by her daughter’s actions on tv, which is why she reacted the way she did.
Excellent point! Nobody knows you as well as you’re Mom does – she certainly had insight.
Nobody turns into a narcissist or sociopath with out help from their parent. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Stephanie is very scary.
I came here immediately after watching the episode hoping for a recap because I knew TT would love the reunion clip of Stephanie being called a sociopath!!
I think the reunion is going to be great. Can’t wait for Stephanie and Angele to get it handed to them.
I did shed a little tear when Nate’s roommate got so emotional with his leaving. He did a great job, but also bonded with these men and I feel bad for him that they will question if his friendship was real
I hope at least Nate will keep in touch with his friend in there, I forget his name.
Desmond, I think? Desmond seems like an intelligent person. He actually knew that 3 months was a quarter, not that this is rocket science, but a lot of people have trouble with fractions. He interacted well with the other inmates and if he wants, I believe he could have a good future. Is is weird that I’m this interested in Desmond. I’m very hopeful for him.
Same
Well said. I think they have a genuine friendship.
They can’t have a genuine relationship; Nate lied to Desmond the entire time. I like Nate as well, but I also think Desmond will see it as a betrayal no matter what. It’s the equivalent of snitching. It’s too bad.
Nate is still friends with Desmond. He went to meet his family and son while Desmond was still in, and is still in touch with him now that he’s out. It’s on his Instagram page.
I don’t know…. I think that their relationship had a little bit more to it, such as ideas that Nate could give Desmond about making his life better. I don’t think that part was fake.
By the way can anyone else picture Nate driving a horse and buggy in an Amish community? : )
.. Besides… Nate looks like the kind of guy who could hang out with just about anybody.
Did Matt do anything except talk dramatically about his son? Matt is strange.
In season two of the women on their calls gone mentioned what they could do with the mobey, one woman talked about buying a house with her husband. I assumed they get a financial bonus for staying the entire time.
Angele’s interview with production they said her contract was not fulfilled. With that idea I think production is getting mostly people that are there for the money mostly not to assist the program. Not all of them but the majority of this season the people were there for other reasons.
OOPs meant season 1
I grew up in an abusive household with narcissistic, sociopathic and psychopathic family members (My brother held a gun to me at one point etc). My Father was in and out of prison my entire life, so my Mom the narcissist raised her children alone. When I saw Stephanie with her Mother, I knew with in seconds that the relationship was unhealthy. Stephanie’s Mom was concerned with how she would look due to her daughter’s decision to join the show. What kind of a Mom is going to be so “angry” at her daughter, but at the same time put energy and focus into her chicken wings, placing them in a to-go box?? If you were truly concerned, you would storm out with out your chicken! Anyhow, Stephanie is a very scary girl. I would rather be locked up with Swole. At least you know what you are getting with her.
Anybody besides me feel like the entire “help improve the prison” premise is a complete ruse? The sheriff and his assistants eyes glaze over when anything requiring changes of substance is brought up by the participants. And what exactly did they get from Nate’s extra 60? Was it worth it? Can we just be honest and call the show for what it is, which is watching what happens to people once they get behind bars.
That’s kinda’ what the Sheriff (?) said to the morning meeting at the prison, at the end of the episode, isn’t it? Who knows if that was the original intention… like Survivor having a new theme….
The point about them not taking Angele’s things out of the cell after she left, is a really good one. Maybe production had to act like she had a medical emergency and brought her to the infirmary? They must have had to have an explanation for the guards for her pod cell.
I think that most of us wanted to see some kind of success story in all of this, like Andrew helping his cellmate to read. If you’re a person who thinks that helping inmates improve their condition is what they mean about treating them more humanely, you’re gonna’ want to see that it would work.
I think Nate and Zac had a definite advantage by having had experience in the service. My impression of what they have experienced, as far as being able to communicate with all types of people, must have made it seem somewhat familiar.
I keep thinking back to a scene in one episode where Matt was sitting on the floor rocking back and forth. I would have sworn that a family member of mine mentioned that that is a sign of someone with special needs. Anyone know for sure?
That being said… I don’t think that he got the respect that he wanted partly because he was “quick to anger”, That’s a bad thing in the Christian Bible. I’m not sure if the Mormons say anything about that.
I know that Johnny wasn’t satisfied about the argument about respecting women, but I think that maybe there were others there that took note of what he said and took it to heart.
I wish Andrew well with his return home. I can understand how he might feel more confident. My guess is that this show will help improve his home life as well as his dating life.
I don’t think that Alan had to actually receive the meth to know, or watch where it came from. I thought that that was pushing it. I think he’ll be glad that he hadn’t left earlier.
When Bucchi was heading towards the door to leave, he kept looking back and I sensed that he was struggling with what he might get to say before he left for good, and I kept talking to the tv screen saying “don’t say it!…. Don’t say it!” Lol. And then of course the door shut on him before he got out. Oh no…. Lol. “See! You shouldn’t have done that!” I guess the temptation was too great. He had been biting his tongue for too long. Lol. Oops. Thankfully, as long as that next half minute felt, it wasn’t too long before he did finally get out. : ) Live and learn.
Just an FYI about Matt’s rocking…. I googled it and I guess it can just be a serious-stress coping mechanism. Makes sense.
Well said, all of it, thank you 🙂
Attention..Attention..as a Black woman I want every woman of every other race to know, understand & BELIEVE me when I say that Stephanie & Angele are no representatives of us. Those 2 sociopathic & psychopathic are of an unknown race & they must be stopped from procreating!!!
… And yet… you gotta’ consider that they may be products of their environments. And to that end…” there but for the grace of God” (as they say among Christians).
They are still young…. There’s still time to make adjustments. This would be a good time for them to be strong and not just defensive. Here’s to hoping all turns out well, in the end,,, for them and those whose lives they have touched.
Elcie,
You clearly know nothing about personality disorders. Sadly, they cannot change. Age has nothing to do with it. They are most likely a “product of their environment” , but there is a genetic component that goes with most mentally ill individuals. They most likely had to learn how to cope with their dysfunctional upbringing by convincing themselves that fantasy was reality. They most likely did not get the love and encouragement they needed as children, so they had to become their own best friend and convince themselves of how wonderful they are and how much above the rules they are. You cannot cure a narcissist, sociopath, or any other severe personality disorder.
Thanks Jasmine. I guess ‘I’ve not heard that they cannot be cured. I’ll have to read more about it.
As far as sociopaths go,.. I still think that they can “direct” their mindset. For example, if you think that someone is a sociopath, that doesn’t mean that they can’t accomplish good things while trying to make us believe that they’re the best that this world has ever seen. In fact that may be their motivation for accomplishing good things.
Matt’s White skin privilege didn’t allow him to endure being in an environment where Black men were higher in hierarchy than him. He hated Tebow simply because Tebow was the Pod Boss & more revered & respected by other inmates than he was. Matt tried all he could to become Pod Boss..even lied about knowing an inmate, developed delusions of grandeur & announced at one point that he was Pod Boss, then got even madder when he realized he was still lowest in hierarchy.
Reverse racism was Matt’s kryptonite..he couldn’t last 60 days as a minority!! LBVS
I haven’t seen this show. How do they hide the cameras? Or is fake-ass like shows like Bar Rescue where it’s painfully obvious that the “security cameras” are really handheld and everyone knows they are there?
The don’t hide the cameras at all. There are cameras in the cells and cameras in the rec area and producers at time walking around with with cameras. They all had to sign a release to be on “the documentary about prison life.”
When the girls were having their drug parties there were producers with cameras asking them what drugs they were doing. They didn’t care.
Hey Tamara. Been following you for years and finally am commenting. Someone mentioned that the one participate is still in contact with Desmond. I think that is wonderful. What about Gabby? She was already troubled. It seemed that Gabby really did care in the scene where she had her mom 3 way. This may scar her more than we know. That Stephanie is really nuts. This was an entertaining show. Too bad Angele recked it for everybody. Remember the season Ali the boxer’s daughter was on? I believe her name was Mariam. She could have easily told who she was. This season was a hot mess. I cannot wait for the reunion show. Counting the days.
