I feel like the ladies have been working on this promo forever! The movie is out! Where is this promo running?

Because we NEED to see this!

I presume it is going to run on Bravo, so let me know if and when you see it!

Thanks! Here you go!

I think the one I saw (I was so busy seeing who was there), they were sitting down with Andy, and Sonja or Melissa asked if he took his cards everywhere.
Kenya, Cynthia, Sonja, Melissa I remember.
    But they were having lunch.
    I’ll try to find it.
(They were talking about wrinkles and their faces)

Why the hell do they always use Melissa? LeeAnn Locken would have been a better choice.

I’ve seen two commercials. The table one seems like a couple weeks and the Stepford Wives one seems like just a week but I’m so behind my dates are probably whacked.

That was pretty good, though I didn’t recognize Gizelle until she opened her mouth.

Side note. Does the fact that Kenya was included mean she might just be returning to RHOA?

I saw the promo this week on Bravo while I was in PA for a business trip. It’s really cute and hopefully I’m not reading too much into this with hoping Kenya’s presence means she’s returning to RHOA.

Yes! Saw this days ago and repeatedly in NY, and noticed it includes all the really pretty girls. And the fact that Kenya was included made me wonder – is she coming back on Housewives of ATL or NYC?

I am sorry but I don’t know about “A Wrinkle In Time”.

I find this picture kind of offensive to women in general. Not only that, it could have been a scene pulled from the Help.

    What is this nonsense?

It is a play on the “Stepford Wives” – very retro-spooky.

A Wrinkle in Time is a movie about a little girl who Time Travels and learns about different points in history. This is a play on her traveling to the 1950s and also a parody of The Stepford Wives.

Please continue clutching your pearls though, as that is very 1950s and appropriate.

GAAAAH! (That is the 10 year old me, major fan of the novel Wrinkle in Time, yelling in frustration).

FYI, Meg does not “time travel” in the typical sense of science fiction, but in the actual science, science sense. As in a “light year” actually being a measure of distance, not time. Meg, the heroine of the story, follows her father through time and space without needing to travel the speed of light, and doing it instantly in Earth time (in other words – when she gets back to Earth, it isn’t centuries later which some theorize would happen if we could travel at light speed). Oh, she doesn’t go back in time at all – she literally is going to other planets instantly.

Stepford Wives novel came out in 72, while Wrinkle in Time was written earlier (I knew it came earlier, I just got the specific dates on Wikipedia)

The Housewives are dressed like the HOUSEWIVES Meg encounters on a different planet, all who behave the same way. This is just a fun and funny promotion. (Not going to tell you more as it is a plot point in the movie). The implication that the movie is racist is hilarious. The protagonist is a young girl of color for fuck’s sake. Ava DuVernay purposely cast a wide variety of people from different racial backgrounds and skin tones – so who they picked for the promo was great. (Just realized, no Asian housewives have been cast, have they?)

Since you don’t know Wrinkle in Time at all – you probably shouldn’t leap to such conclusions. Instead try asking questions.

It’s SO cute! I love it. I don’t know about the move, I saw the trailer in the theater and it’s not for me but I love this promo. I think all the women did really well. I think some people are really over-thinking it. #drag

I have only seen it once. It ran during the RHOBH episode this week. I follow Erika on Instagram and she was promoting saying something like “watch the housewives get wrinkled”. The promo was cute! Would have swapped out Giselle for Dorinda though.

I liked it. The scene with the wives outside in their front yards reminded me of Edward Scissorhands! It looks very Stepfordish to me but I’ll probably watch it, maybe I’ll even go to the theater. I can’t do violent movies so this seems like something I could sit through without having to go to the bathroom when gory parts come up! I thought that was Gretchen Rossi in that picture, I didn’t know it was Erika until she spoke.

Skeeter – there won’t be gory parts if it is anything like the book. Wrinkle came before Stepford… and it isn’t necessarily the point of the book (It just fit in with the Bravo Housewives… great moment to use to have them promote the movie).

I can’t WAIT to see this movie.

Well get your ass to the theatre and come back and review it for us here! I was going to go to the movies today, instead I am mopping and vacuuming he living fuck out of he living room/dining room in preparation for the arrival of my slutty new couch tomorrow. I just moved THE HEAVIEST COUCH IN THE WORLD to the wall and my living room looks so tiny with it over here, and I don’t like the view of the TV or the window! The new couch is coming to sit in the middle of the floor where I think it belongs. I don’t like couches and furniture just lining the walls.

Not sure why Bravo would continue to employ Kenya for projects if they intended to fire her and replace her with Kim. I remember all these ladies in the club house with Kim saying they liked Kenya and we’re friendly with her.

Yeah I’ve read your “Kenya is fired” post. It seems silly for Bravo to keep employing her for promos. Why not have just picked someone they didn’t intend to fire like Kim?

Read the book people. It’s not stepdord wives references, it’s A Wrinkle in Time references to the book! Unfortunately the film doesn’t cover the book as well as it should have, but it does have great artistic points that the make up and wardrobe people should definitely get awards for! As for the Bravo promos- I think most of the cast was chosen well, but would have liked to have seen someone from RHOC or RHOD vs Melissa. I think the rest of the “players” rocked it!

I have no idea about this film but usually the more advance publicity for a movie, the worse the movie is. They are trying to get a lot of people to buy tickets on the first day before bad word of mouth gets out.

Honey, there will be no bad word of mouth on this movie. Ava Duvernay in the director AND SHE IS EVERY DAMN THANG.

I’m not into Sci-Fi at all but I will most likely go see this movie. Imma have to wait for the crowds to dwindle down, because black folks in ATL TALK TO THE PEOPLE IN THE MOVIE VERY LOUDLY and I have a hearing issue these days. I have to wait for things to get quiet. I was so excited to go see Poetic Justice when I was young. Everyone else was there for Janet and Tupac and I was there for Maya Angelou and I could barely hear her small scenes because everyone in the theatre was talking to the screen. #SoundDifferentiationProblems
