Hey guys! We are getting down to the nitty-gritty with only 7 contestants left. It really feels as though this season has gone on for awhile…no? And there’s not even a Tim Gunn save. I am sitting in front of a fire trying to get warm while watching the designers stroll down 5th avenue in summer gear. They have no idea where they are going but are guessing it’s somewhere nice since they are in the ritziest part of NYC.
Well they ARE going somewhere special as they wind up in Zac Posen’s atelier. Beautiful color and design are everywhere. Zac gives the grand tour. Alyssa brings up Zac’s technique which is born out of his love for the female form. Alyssa is probably wearing one of his dresses and she still looks like she’s in a potato sack. The designers challenge is to create a red carpet look showcasing their signature technique. Please baby Jesus let them have two days….pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease………NOPE! One day. Anne is away so at least there is that. And the designers are supposed to mentor each OTHER? What fresh hell is this? Ken is not happy. I would volunteer to be Joshua’s mentor in a heartbeat and tell him his Hot Topic/bondage/lingerie dress is AWESOME. Add some bling and fringe to that Joshy boy! You are a misunderstood GENIUS! It’s a winner!! I think I would be a big help. The prize is to be the wardrobe designer for a leading lady for a Lifetime original movie. That’s almost like an Oscar dress! For Lacey Chalbert! The studio is amazing. Helen says that everything is done perfectly BECAUSE NOTHING HAS TO BE DONE IN A DAY. They are using his fabrics from Zac’s selections. There is some seriously good stuff. Stanley gets to pick first as he won the last challenge.
Stanley is designing a red gown that is going to make Tamara freak out. This is Stanley’s challenge to lose in my mind. Helen is doing a colorblocked red dress with a built in corset. It looks elegant with an edge…..very Helen. Edmond is known for his ruffles. This could go either way. Anthony is “sculpting” an asymmetrical gown. This is ALSO a very Anthony challenge. Joshua is doing pin-tucking. This is Joshua’s challenge to ACTUALLY lose in my mind. Who knows? Maybe he will surprise us all……
I am rooting for Helen as she is the last female standing. And I love her work. Ken is also sculpting. Fabio is going to do a pleating technique. Anthony is bemoaning the lack of time. Ken is upset that he is working “hard, but not smart.” The material he picked is very heavy and it’s not doing what he wants. Anthony gives him a hug. I’m not sure even a hug from Anthony will help at this point. Helen explains the hazards of pin-tucking as Joshua practices his technique on muslin first. It’s time consuming and requires serious precision. Hmmmm.
The dreaded button bag comes out. Stanley is mentoring Anthony, Anthony is very happy. Stanley likes his design but reminds him he was in the bottom last week. Anthony says he was inspired last week remembereing whien STANLEY was on the bottom and he knows there is no where to go but up. Well, hey now, the rest of these critiques should go pretty well….no? Anthony is mentoring Joshua. He asys this should be pretty easy because Joshua’s models are usually naked and/or hookerish. He points out Joshua’s fabric is two-tone so in a way he is also showcasing color-blocking. This completely confuses Joshua who can’t tell if Anthony is joking. Joshua has Ken. This should go well. Ken is patient and Joshua is nice, but Ken is basically ignoring anything Joshua would have to offer. Ken gets Fabio. Ken lies to Fabio’s face and tells him he likes his dress when, in fact, he thinks it is ugly. Well this is all really helpful! Fabio actually HELPS Edmond. Helen gets nothing from Edmond. All the other boys line up to watch Helen mentor Stanley. She recommends shortening the length and the sister wives protest. She knows Stanley is going to do what Stanley is going to do and ignores them. The models come in and Joshua has nothing to put on his model. He’s not concerned. Is it me or there a lot of “eating” scenes? Edmond is designing a flamenco dress? Paging Margarita….who would be awesome on All-Stars.
The next day everyone is freaking out. No one is in a good place. Joshua is starting to realize he might be fucked. Stanley thinks Ken’s looks like a comfortor is attached to the model’s hip. Stanley’s looks predictibly awesome. Joshua’s looks predictible slutty. Either Joshua or Edmond are not long for this world.
Alyssa’s top? Good The pants? Not so good. Seriously girl, take a Clueless (just rewatched that movie!) lead and take some poloroids. Zac is the guest judge as is Rosie Perez. She doesn’t age. It’s weird.

Stanley’s gown is impeccable. The color is amazing, the neck is fabulous and the tailoring exquisite. I want to feed his model. The shape of Helen’s dress is beautiful, but I’m worried about the shinier red fabric bunching when it moves. Edmond’s model looks like she is the after picture in an Alien movie. You know the scene….. I thought I was going to love Anthony’s more. I love it still. It looked a bit tortured moving on the runway. The shape is beautiful but the dress is wearign the model, not the other way around. Joshua’s top looks sloppy and unfinished. And not connected to his bottom. And it looks slutty. Brandi would wear this. And her boob would fall out at some point. Fabio’s is elegant and very him. I could see an older actress rocking this elegant look. I can’t get past Ken’s bordello fabric choice and the fabric on the side is too heavy. I pick Stanley or Fabio to win and either Joshua or Edmond to go. I love Edmond as a person but I feel his time is up.
Helen is safe and she literally RUNS off the runway She wishes the boys good luck, but obviously she is thrilled to not be there.
Zac tells Fabio he did a spectacular job and he should be very proud. Isaac points out that it is very modern dress on a very traditional runway. He loves it. Georgina loves the back but finds the front “a touch dowdy”. Rosie loves it because it’s unique. Alyssa thinks he did a great job and she knew it was his immediately.
Alyssa thinks Ken handled the fabric well but hates the component on the side and doesn’t think it is contributing anything to the gown. Georgina points out that the heavy fabric on the side is pulling at the rest of the tailoring. Isaac thinks the v-neck is poorly done. It doesn’t say red carpet to Rosie but she loves the material. Zac says it doesn’t feel finished and it doesn’t feel like a signature dress. Ken remains Zen.
Alyssa loves that Stanley’s dress is making the wearer shine. Georgina thinks it is a great dress but it is too simple. Zac thinks the straps add a detail that was needed. Rosie points out that someone with boobs could not wear this. Stanley assures her he would work with her “girls”. Isaac thinks it look expensive and congratulates him on a job well done.
Isaac loves the colors of Joshua’s but thinks it looks like two different outfits. Zac thinks there is a lot going on and calls it trashy. Georgina says he needed to stick to a story. Alyssa couldn’t figure out if she loved it or hated it, but based on judging a signature technique, and having starred in a few Lifetime movies, she decided she has to love it. (I’m just guessing these are the roles she is getting these days).
Isaac thinks Anthony’s dress is great. Zac thinks it looks like an elegant brushstroke and he nailed it. Anthony squeals. Georgina thinks it looks “easy and light” huh? Zac thinks the same thing. Huh?? I love Anthony, and the shape of this dress is beautiful but did they not see is moving down the runway?? Rosie thinks the dress is a whole performance and she also loves it. Her boobs would look great in it.
Georgina thinks the brocade of Edmond’s skirt is just too much with the ruffle element. Isaac blesses him for attempting a “rose fantasy” but he thinks he made the fabric look cheap. Alyssa says it reminds her a thrown pillow on her bed that she loves and her husband hates. Zac tells him he didn’t need an exposed zipper and that the front is too much. Rosie simply says she hates it. Ouch.
Helen picks who was in what position correctly. Stanley says he’s in good company and Joshua is insulted. Stanley refuses to fight. Seeing Anthony’s dress move in slow motion it does look better. Does Isaac not like Zac? Anthony wins. Squealing ensues. What the fuck is Joshua wearing on his feet? It doesn’t matter because those booties were made for walking. Joshua is eliminated. He won’t let anyone hug him and Anthony says “ding dong the witch is dead”. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and as always I LOVE reading your thoughts so please comment! Bisous!! CJ
Alyssa can not be serious. I laughed out loud on this one (runway look). She has to be messing with us now, right? If she was a friend of mine and walked in like that I would think she was playing a joke on me. I paused to see the designers face and they were trying really hard to have a poker face.
I was thinking Fabio was going to be win, but oh well. I like when he makes things that look more like what he wears himself.
the pants on the runway look – it looked like she stepped in the bottom half of a body cast made for someone 3 times her width. Poor Alyssa all the stylist on PRAS must hate her with the passions of a thousand suns.
Then she stood there with her legs apart…weird, like helping us get a better look at how big and boxy the were. Maybe your right about punking us! ?
If Alyssa’s outfit had been green she would have looked like the old cartoon character, Gumby. I think her stylist must really dislike her.
Funniest. Review. Ever! Thank you!
I enjoyed the dresses but so many misses this time. Alyssa, really? She is a mess in the fashion dept. I’ve not liked her any season as the host of this show. Oh well. Bye Joshua, it was past time.
Of course I think Stanley was robbed. The dude picked tailoring as his technique and made a perfectly tailored gown IN ONE DAMN DAY. What they see as “simple” I see as “elegant. These judges are stupid.
I didn’t like Anthony’s gown. I thought the color was annoying. It needed to be a little more or a little less blue. The shade made me squirm like it was someone sort of institutional blue. It was just some sort of bad reaction. The back had way too much going on. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t think it should have won.
I quite liked Edmond’s rose dress. The bottom fabric was gorgeous.
I did NOT like Fabio and was concerned he would go home with that potato sack. It was an extremely unflattering cut. I could see André Leon Talley flouncing about in Fabio’s look.
I probably would have sent Ken home. He seems to have given up three buckets of chicken ago. Joshua’s dress wasn’t as bad as what he has been doing. It was past time for Joshua to leave though. He seems to be um, going through something, that he needs to do privately. #glitterheels
Did I miss something and the challenge was to do a red carpet gown for Rosie Perez? She kept bringing everything back to her and her boobs. She didn’t have anything to contribute otherwise and it was not constructive to just tell a designer that she hated his gown. She may be a good actress but she’s a terrible judge.
Joshua’s exit outfit was.. strange.
Feet in drag, but then sort of a bizarre boy scout shirt and those shorts.. All making him look so tall and skinny.
Definitely time for him to go.
If I made it to the end of this, I would not want him or Merline as my assistant!
And Alyssa! Those pants!
Rosie wanting room for her boobs:. Surely she realizes they have to fit the model, and that model In particular in exceptionally and painfully without curves anywhere on her body.
This season does seem to be dragging on..
For me, this episode was so much better than the Isaac Mizrahi inspired show last week. Didn’t like anything on it. Love Zac Posen’s style – elegant, feminine and timeless – plus, I love that little devil grin he has.
Anthony’s dress was definitely sculptural, but I thought Stanley’s was genius. With a model that scarily thin, it takes tremendous talent to make it look like any kind of couture. It still bothers me to see a model looking like an famine victim – beautiful woman, but, as I said before, I thought the whole movement was away from the anorexic look. As a mother, I want to get some calories into her and make her look healthier. Still, Stanley did her proud and should have won by a mile.
I liked Helen. Edmond and Fabio’s designs. So glad to see Joshua go home, and what was he wearing? He looked like a heron dressed up as a girl wearing her first high heels as he tottered off the stage. I wouldn’t have been sad to see Ken go either, although I think he has more redeeming qualities than Jpshua.
All in all, there was nothing that walked down the runway that was as awful as in some of the other shows. Definitely a lot of talent to choose from.
That’s exactly what Joshua looked like!!!
Great review. My favorite was Stanley. Also love that his cool dude image is breaking down. Loved Fabios design but wish it was a different color because it was a little depressing.
Never liked any of Josh’s looks on this show or his original PR show. They are not so over the top slutty to be fun nor conservative enough to be sexy, just trashy.
Poor Alyssa; each week I think This week will be ok w hair / clothes. Noo. Just don’t understand how on a show w fashion – it keeps going wrong. Thanks so much for the written review. Tears 😭 flowing w laughter. Highlight of my week well Done
I just love your reviews!! I look forward to PRAS but I just can’t wait until I read your review! You make my week every time. Thank you for being so funny and so honest. I almost spit out my wine when Alyssa posed behind the skein and then walked out looking like the Michelin man. Why? Because I could just imagine what you would have to say. She looked so boxy and she’s such a pretty woman. She and Salma Hayak need to start wearing tailored looks, their boobs are just too big and they are just a little too short for the shit they wear.
Anyway, thank you for the laughs!
I typed skrim, not skein. Stupid autocorrect
my top 2 Anthony and Stanley with Anthony for the win even my husband said it was very nice.
Stanley if I recall his season outfits were very conservative he isn’t all flashy and the man can tailor to a tee.Rosie if Stanley made you a dress it would fit all areas of your body is she so dumb that she did not look at the model he designed for .lol My husband who is skinny said she is too skinny
I agree with everyone on Alyssia’s style poor girl doesn’t have any.
Edmonds dress I liked it just thought he would be safe not bottom he is not as good on all stars as he was his season.
Joshua has been on too many of these shows was this his 3rd or 4th time hang it up now he needed to go.
Can we please stop body-shaming Edmond’s Model? If she was overweight, no one would be saying anything. Body-shaming someone, no matter what size they are, is wrong. And do not say that she is unhealthy. How do you know? Have you seen her blood test results? You do not know if she is healthy or not, plus, it’s none of anyone’s business.
She is scary thin on TV and that adds 15 pounds. No one is shaming her, we are afraid she might die.
Sorry I don’t agree that no one would say anything if she were overweight. I suspect she’d be receiving major shade. Seems like most people’s concern here (I hope) is that she looks unhealthy. Whether she is or not. She is a model after all and how she looks is going to be how she’s judged. Relative to this-Anybody notice how brief PRs self congratulatory excursion into plus size was? Hopefully liris and the other girls from last seasons got some work out of it at least.
I suspect that if someone on this board criticized a plus-size model, that person would be called out considerably.
Does anyone voice concern that a plus-size model might be unhealthy? Granted, most are just “normal-sized” women, but what about truly-overweight plus-sized models? My point is that there is a double-standard and we should stop making comments about a woman’s body – whether overweight, underweight or “normal”-sized, period.
Has anyone considered that Stanley’s model might read these boards and feel bad about herself after reading them? Doesn’t anyone think that she has feelings, too?
Well, you see, MODELS are selected to be MODELS based on their BODIES. They go to see clients, strip practically naked, while a whole bunch of people openly critique THEIR BODIES out loud while they are standing there.
I’m pretty sure she has been made aware how skinny she is MANY MANY MANY times and that is how she books her jobs.
She doesn’t need you to be offended on her behalf.
Just watched this episode last night and read your recap this morning. Love the recaps-light hearted & funny, which I think PR can be too.
Agree with comments about Alyssa’s image this season. I must say I waited on Alyssa about 15 years ago when working at a Las Vegas casino and she was flawless both physically and personality-wise. The most naturally beautiful celebrity I waited on. Of course, that’s practically a lifetime ago though.
I don’t think I watched Stanley’s season so he is new to me and I love him. Glad he didn’t take Joshua’s bait and glad Joshua got sent home. It seems like he has a chip on his shoulder with Isaac.
Thanks for the great recap! It will be hard to see the rest of the designers go as I like them and they’re all very talented and witty.
Also, agree that Margarita would make a great PRAS-one of my faves!
