It’s weird to see Bethenny & Carole as friends in these episodes. This was filmed way back in May of 2017 and clearly things went south shortly thereafter. Bethenny gets several checks from this show, one as talent and one as executive producer and her production company either producer the whole show or was credited as one of the production companies. Bethenny and Kandi are two of the housewives who know how to work the system.
Bethenny needs reading glasses so she meets up with Carole at her favorite ridiculously expensive eyeglass story. I have news for them, once you need reading glasses your vision gets progressively worse. So those expensive reading glasses are not going to work for long. The Dollar Tree has some really cute ones for a dollar sometimes, and even when they are not so cute, you also need multiple pairs of reading glasses to strew around the house because after your eyes start going, your brain is soon to follow and reading glasses tend to congregate in one spot that you are never in. Also, Tuesday Morning, if you have one of those, has cute ones for around ten bucks. Some of my favorites literally came from the dollar story though.
I do not understand why they are going to an actual eye doctor for reading glasses, there is a chart in the CVS that tells you how blind you are, or you can just buy a pair and see how they work. Bethenny still has 20/20 vision. Then she explains that she only agreed to $300,000 in renovations and Fredrik has gone over. She’s not down for that. I don’t blame her. Fredrik is 60K on the budget for the first house. She also feels like she is doing all the work and the only one looking for properties.
Later she meets at the property with Fredrik and the contractors. Fredrik seems to think that $60K was somehow part of Bethenny’s original buy in because the payments had been made prior to setting the $300K budget. Or something. I’m with Bethenny, we agreed to a $300K budget for this property and she never agreed to hiking up the budget. So we are back to the scripted part. I enjoyed the less scripted episode in the Hamptons. No one wants more of Bethenny screaming and Fredrik feeling hurt.
Fredrik goes to see Derek in his studio. Derek tells him they just need to talk it out and he believes in second chances.
Bethenny and Fredrik meet for an awkward breakfast at Sarabeth’s. She is remorseful about her behavior. She says his comment about how he could have already sold the place if it weren’t for her set her off. He apologizes for that one comment. She also apologizes. Bethenny says she was feeling surprised and mislead about the budget. Fredrik has a hissy fit. By the way, Bethenny is in very toned down makeup and looks fantastic with less goop on her face. Bethenny now understands that the designers were paid prior to her buying in so that was not included in the $300,000 budget. I can see both sides of the argument. Bethenny should have read the contract more closely and Fredrik should have explained the preexisting payments to Bethenny. Fredrik cries and says it really hurt him that she called him a liar and a snake. Bethenny apologizes profusely. She says she took things entirely too far. They make up.
They come together, to see the nearly finished product. They are both very pleased. Then they have a very large piece of granite delivered that is to big for the elevator. They either have to cut it, or remove a window. #RichPeopleProblems Apparently, that was all drama for the show, because they got it in through the front door.
Next Week is staging. I get the feeling this entire season will be about flipping ONE apartment and they never had any intention of doing more than one. Unless of course the show gets picked up for another season. These two are making money on a show about them making money. It’s brilliant.
