America’s Next Top Model: Beauty Is Pride

Valentina

OMG! OMG! OMG! Valentina!!!!!!!!!!!

Look. I have not been keeping up with Drag Race in a timely manner this season, but if Valentina was on this season, I don’t care if it meant I couldn’t recap RHOA or RHOBH y’all would just have to do without. Because Valentina! I love her!  I will try to talk about the models still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model.

We start after the shocking eviction of Coura who started off so strong but fizzled out at the end unable to do anything with her face to stand out. Everyone is pissed that Christina and her jello green hair is still there. They all get on her for her attitude.

RELATED POSTS: RuPaul’s Drag Race!

Speaking of attitudes, Rio promises to stop comparing herself the other models since she won best pic and just worry about herself. YAY! Rio is stunning and needs to stay focused. Liberty is from a very conservative community and has never experienced Pride Week.

Valentina and Shanice

Brendi K. is bisexual and has not come out to her family in Tennessee. For one thing, I don’t think her family will be shocked by this news, and for another, she just came out on national television.

The challenge is at a pop up runway inside Micky’s in Weho. The girls have to style themselves with fashions from Christian Cowan for the challenge. The winner will be booked for Christian Cowan’s NYFW show. As is usual this season, the challenge goes so fast you would miss it if you blinked. The judges didn’t like Kyra or Brendi K. They loved Jeana. I thought Brendi K,’s runway walk was very appropriate for Pride. So I disagree with the judges there. Rio did great. She sprayed her hair red. I think she should have had rainbow hair. Khrystyana put on a weird performance that I hated and the judges loved. Why was she wearing a rain bonnet? IDGI. Erin, who reminds us she is 42! was amazing.

Please explain to me how this look won the runway challenge. Am I looking at it wrong?

Brendi K. was devastated by the negative feedback from the judges. The top three were Jeana, Khrystyana and Erin. The winner was Khrystyana. I think they do that on purpose because I have no idea how to spell her name.

All of the girls gang up on Liberty for being a republican. It’s sad to watch. Christina tries harder to get along with the girls. It isn’t working. These girls are mean. I mean Christina is a bitch. But these girls are rude too.

Enough with all that, let’s get to Valentina! Katya is also there, and so is Milana (don’t tell Lady C. But I have no idea who she is.) Then there is the goddess, VALENTINA! If I were in the shoot, I’d want to shoot with Milana. Because how do you outshine Valentina and Katya?

Rio poses with Valentina. Rio’s dress is everything, and I prefer Valentina with very dark hair. Liberty poses with Katya. Khrystyana also shoots with Katya and does great. Even Katya is a bit wowed by her. Kyla bombs with Milana. Shanice struggles with Valentina but gets some good photos in. Erin does well with Milana. Jeana and struggles a bit with Valentina. Sandra also struggles with Valentina. Christina does well with Katya. Brendi K. struggles with Milana.

Khrystyana & Katya FIERCE!

Judges Table

Christina’s shot with Katya is great! Shanice has a fantastic shot with Valentina. Khrystyana and Katya are great! Brendi K. and Milana’s photo is in the middle. Jeana and Valentina’s photo got mixed reviews. Erin and Milana’s photo got high praise. Sandra’s photo with Valentina was just meh. The did not like Liberty. I hope they do not send her home. She is learning a lot in the house. Rio and Valentina’s photo was good, but not “fierce.” Kyla’s entire film was really weak. It was hard to find one good shot. She’s in danger, girl!

Khystyana wins. Shanice was second. Then Jeana, Christina, Erin, Sandra, Rio and Brendi K.  That leaves Liberty and Kyla on the bottom too. Please let Liberty stay!!! Liberty is very short. I just noticed that. Sadly, Liberty goes home.

I’m surprisingly disappointed that Liberty is leaving as well – I honestly think she was open to learning more, and seemed to be saying that maybe not everything she was taught was right. That is kind of powerful right there. Too bad the girls were not up to the task of a “teachable” but kind moment. Even the activist!

Off the camera set she was doing ok for the first time she’s ever seen a drag queen and her first pride being LA PRIDE… that would be a little overwhelming for a lot of people even if they’ve been to a smaller community’s pride!

But her picture was kind of dull.

Oh, and Brendi K needs to stop with the beaten puppy thought process and listen. She also needs to maybe take a page from Christina and get a little mad. It might add some spice to the picture. She lets her hang ups be her obstacles, when she could use them (instead of woe is me, my mom doesn’t understand me or I don’t have a good relationship with my mother when you are posing with a Queen acting as your mom – USE THAT. Christina’s pose actually should have been Brendi K’s… her being pissed or rejecting her mother….

I’ve been reading your recaps but hadn’t watched ANTM before this episode. I’ve been a huge fan of RPDR from the get go so when I saw that there would be Drag Queens i had to watch it. Manilla placed 2nd in Season 3. Which now seems a lifetime ago. I really enjoyed the show. Think I’ll give it a try. Thanks for adding yet another program to my dvr lol.

The only think I don’t like about this season is how they do two challenges in one day. We don’t get to see enough of the actual modeling. Plus they basically tell us the top and bottom during the challenge.
