Lydia McLaughlin Announces She is Quitting Real Housewives of Orange County

February 9, 2018 by tamaratattles 40 Comments

Usually, I presume that a departing housewife who announces their departure was fired; however, in Lydia’s case, I do believe she quit. Lydia came back to promote her magazinee and was successful in doing that on the second highest rated housewives show in the franchise. I believe that right after he husband “had his balls cut off” as she so amusingly put it, I believe they decided to have a girl via IVF with selection. Even though she doesn’t mention it in her departure notice belong, I expect to hear soon that she is pregnant with a baby girl. I could be wrong, but that is my official prediction.

Here are her words about her decision to once again pursue other activities.

RHOC has given me a great platform and I’m grateful for that. However, I feel like I can only handle this show one season at a time. I need a break! There is a lot of good that comes from the show, but also a lot of negativity. After a family vote, it was unanimous that I should take a break. Sometimes the people who love us the most see things even we don’t see. I trust my path and I’m excited for what the future holds.

Bravo and Evolution have been amazing to me and I have made great friendships. I treasure all my fans and appreciate all the love and support. I’ve been honored to be a source of entertainment and inspiration to all of you and I hope to continue spreading light and love.

Being a full-time mom to THREE little boys, publisher of NOBLEMAN Magazine, blogger, jewelry designer, author, and wife, I have a lot going on! I will continue to share my life and faith and use this platform to be a lightworker.

I grew up on TV and love the entertainment business. I can’t help and be a little sad for my departure but 100% feel it is the best for me and my family. Lots of other dreams to make come true in my life and in no way do I want to make a career out of being a housewife. That just isn’t me. Life is short and I choose to focus on what makes me happy and brings me joy.

After season 8, I decided to take a break and write a book and have my third baby. That was the right decision for me although many people didn’t understand why I would walk away. Gods plan is always good and it was the perfect timing for me with the launch of NOBLEMAN Magazine to return for season 12. I feel it is now, the perfect twist to once again hang up my orange.

I know I am probably the only one, but I will miss Lydia. She’s quirky and different from the other ladies and brought a different point of view. She was also one of the wealthiest housewives on the show, if not the wealthiest.

We are all presuming that Peggy will not be back and Evolution has been casting new housewives for months now, so hopefully we will be hearing from Peggy next. There are already a lot of rumors about the replacements. I’ll start paying attention to that once filming starts in the near future.

Will anyone else but me miss Lydia, or her crazy mama?

Ditto. Her storyline was nonexistent. Annoying and hypocrical Christian. That’s about it.

I won’t miss her. I think she will have her baby and then want to come back. She just has never shown herself and wants to be private. That’s fine, reality tv is not for her. I don’t think she really brought anything to the table. Except for her mom!

Didn’t Lydia and Doug originally have the position of editors that Vanderpump has now with that Beverly Hills magazine?

    No loss with her quitting.

Lydia is boring and brought 80% of the negativity she’s talking about. Her mom was fun.. Lydia was trying too hard this time. She already knew what the franchise was about…. why is she acting like a first timer? She won’t be missed by me.

I also felt she caused much of the negativity. She was very quick to shut people down, and extremely condescending, if they tried to explain their point of view. Maybe this trend in behavior is what she is referring to in the quote “Sometimes the people who love us the most see things even we don’t see”?

Exactly. She is also extremely immature. He constant digs at Shannon’s mental state calling her “psycho” was not only annoying as fuck but not very becoming of somene that’s so Christian like. It’s obvious what she was there to do and she failed at getting Shannon kicked off so she is out.

Shannon WAS acting psycho and incredibly self-centered. I recognize she had terrible marriage problems but she’d been acting wacky almost since she first appeared on the show. She’s a huge drama queen. I don’t think any of us would have patience for a woman like Shannon; someone who attacked us the first few times we met, threw fits in public and a huge embarrassing scene in a restaurant. However for some reason Lydia should have remained silent? Not commented or called her out because she’s Christian. BS. i’m tired of people attacking Lydia’s behavior because THEY feel it’s not “Christian like”. She never elevated herself over the other women because of her Religion; people project that onto her and fwiw, just because she is Christian it doesn’t mean she isn’t entitled to make mistakes like the rest of us.

Oh stop. Lydia knew exactly what was gonna happen when she had invited Kelly there … kelly was being a complete asshole for no reason, but to get a rise out of Shannon and poking fun sat someone’s weight would get a rise out of anyone. Shannon I’m my opinion was angry for a just reason. Overly emotional? Sure, but def not psycho … she was not psychotic she wasn’t hurt. She acted the exact same way Kelly did but Lydia gave a pass to Kelly if anyone was acting psycho it’s peggy and Lydia’s mom (her mom i happen to like).

Totally agree. “Psycho” is used way too freely by people who are judging someone. Perhaps they lack empathy.

I like Lydia, but she is not HW material. She’s too nice and too vanilla. I also think this would be a good opportunity to change the whole tired cast. Does anyone care about Vicki or Tamra anymore! And for G*ds sake, don’t bring back Gretchen.

Leave your Momma and her obv. high quality, organic, non gmo fair trade Indica *fairy dust* for those that choose to frolic in fairy dust… We’re gonna need it for going thru a never saw it coming Shannon Beador divorce escapade. I’m hoping Shannon reverts back to her new age hippy quirky self from first season. That bug eyed guy was dead weight. Or she may be one of those chicks that loves to bitch about everything under the sun and their constant victim mantra.
    Woohoo bring on RHOOC ?

I wanted to like her way more than I did. She & Doug always seemed so fake. Look how perfect we are. Look how we parent. Look how we do Christianity. Look how we are rich, rich, rich. I’d much rather have Lizzie back and watch her parent. Or, I’m surprised to say, Jim and Alexis. They were annoying, but at least they had controversy. I still miss Heather. Even if none of them are showing us their real selves, I want to think they are. Although she’s a mess, I love Shannon for that.

Question: if she’s such a God fearing christian, why is she selectively choosing a girl for ivf? Isn’t that messing with God’s plan for her life, using science to get what she wants?

I think people are way too free using the word “psycho” when someone is upset. At the very least it escalates situations.
Shannon was often very upset and it obviously showed to everyone she was with. Just acknowledging that and leaving it at that would have been the kind, perhaps “Christian”, thing to do.
Instead I saw many instances where Lydia made things much worse. For me it badly tarnished her fairy dust.
I do think self-proclaimed fervent churchgoers who are quick to judge others and label them, rather than extending patience and help are not really very Christian at heart. I see Lydia in that group.
All people have their limits and can have periods of not coping well with circumstances, but with understanding and support they can and do come back from that. I believe away from David’s undermining Shannon will be much happier – on or off the show.

I am not sad Lydia is gone. Her reasons are her own for exiting the show and that is fine.
Hopefully, Peggy will come up with something, equally family related, to exit the show graciously. If she remains..doubt if I will continue to care about this franchise.

Shannon and her divorce.. interesting, but I’ve been there. Kelly ditto.
    SO, who is left?

SO tired of Gunvalson… TIme to retire and devote more time to Coto.

I want some fun.. give me more Below Deck or RHNY.
