Ryan & Jaclin
Jaclin loves Ryan’s apartment that he shares with a roommate. Ryan wants to find a neutral place for them to start a life together. They both make around $60 -$70K a year. They both are wanting to build their savings.
The first place they look at is ridiculously stupid. It is a three bedroom that is all chopped up and has a crappy kitchen and the toilet and sink and bathtub are in two different rooms. And it’s $2,500 and it took them an hour to find a parking space. It’s the worst apartment ever. The second apartment is a lot nicer. There is parking. The views are pretty. It’s two bedrooms, two baths and $2,400. Clearly, they showed them the first one to make the second one look like a deal.
Jaclin has a breakdown moving when she has to go through boxes that she hasn’t opened since her ex died. She tells herself that she wants to make this work so she has to get it together. Ryan doesn’t seem to be very good at supporting her. Ryan tells her that he feels like she is going backwards in their relationship. He tells her that she doesn’t seem like she is over her ex. His real issue is that he feels like he is going to be constantly compared to her ex. I understand that fear, but he is sharing it in an aggressive manner.
Jon & Molly
Molly is worried about closet space. She does approve of his mature apartment, right up to the ginormous cat house. I would not date a man with a cat. Molly has a million shoes. I just threw away all of my shoes except for three pairs. I will probably toss one of the remaining pair as soon as the replacements are broken in.
Jon is unemployed. Molly currently pays $700 a month. She makes around $55K he is making ZERO. But was making around $70K. They find a gorgeous apartment that is a furnished one bedroom for $2,100. I hope Molly can pay for that. Honestly, I think the show pays for the apartments for the two months and then if they stay together they have to pay the remaining months or they have the option to move out. That said, their plans are always to stay married at this point so the generally try to choose something they can maintain longterm.
Molly is happier with Jon back at home and now realizes that vacation Jon is a big goofy kid but real life Jon is more serious. Ah, a spark of hope!
Jephte & Shawniece
Shawniece has two pairs of Loubs. What does she do for a living again? Oh she lives at home and doesn’t pay rent or utilities. So the will have to stay at his house while they look for a place. Jephte’s apartment looks like a clothes bomb went off.
These two want to pay no more that a thousand dollars a month each. Shawniece is saving for her own salon. Shawniece budgets, Jephte has no financial skills. Jephte is sleeping on the floor in the living room while she sleeps in the king sized bed. This is just ridiculous and insulting. They find a really pretty furnished apartment but it is 3K a month. Next they see a cute house for $1,500 that they really like, but the commutes are a lot longer. We still don’t know what they make, and I have no idea what Shawniece even does. Oh yeah, she is a hair dresser.
Shawniece talks to her mother and tells her that she is not happy with Jephte ignoring her. Her mother tells her she needs to give him time. Then she hears that Jephte is sleeping on the floor, and won’t even hold her hand. Shawniece cries and says she doesn’t want to do it anymore.
She goes home and talks to Jephte. She cries and tells him that she is tired of feeling like she is not wanted and it is the worst feeling in the world. Jephte is unable to say a single word. I think he wants her to leave.
Ohhh… coming up this season, they exchange phones and it looks like that was when Jephte left. Jephte has said they should not be together on two separate upcoming occasions.
