Jackie & Ryan
Ryan doesn’t let Jackie get on the van first. Where is he from? I rarely touch a door in Atlanta without some gentleman opening or holding it for me. And I’m not even cute. How do you grow up not knowing to get your wife into the vehicle before you jump on? Jackie noted this out loud as well. They had my favorite activity of the trip, going to the touristy market for tacky souvenirs. I have these two small male and female busts I bought at a marketplace in St. Lucia as my souvenir. When I got home, I noticed the Made In China tags on the bottom. I still love them and can see them from where I am typing now. Ryan buys the Jamaican hat with the long dreads attached. Ryan is not good at bartering.
Ryan plans a beautiful dinner for Jaclin. I suppose that makes up for the van incident. Almost. Ryan repeats his vows to her at dinner. She says she hopes he is as sincere as she thinks he is. She is a bit fearful.
Molly & Jon
Go dune buggy riding. Suddenly, Jon’s spirit of adventure is reading more as immaturity for Molly. Molly apparently didn’t want to get muddy on the ride, which is sort of the whole point, so Jon took her straight through several mud holes.
Molly and Jon talk to Dr. Jessica about their relationship. Molly tells her that Jon’s childish behavior does not make her want to have sex with him. Jon is pissed that she didn’t tell him this information to her face. Later these two have a mature date with pleasant conversation and things seem better. Then they go to dinner. They both want California rolls and laugh when they found out they wanted the same thing. Neither one wanted to use the chopsticks. Or so Molly says. She eats with them anyway. They talk about where to live. Molly wants a bedroom for his cat. Molly is claiming a cat allergy.
Shawniece & Jephte
These two are just depressing. Shawniece is really depressed. They have a Skype with Pastor Calvin. They tell Pastor Calvin how they are feeling. Pastor Calvin tells Jephte not to put the brakes on so much. Jephte doesn’t listen and doesn’t understand why taking it is slow is a problem. He tells both of them to look for things they like in each other.
Jephte wants to talk about where to live. He doesn’t want a crazy commute because he is tired when the comes home from work. Shawniece is fine with moving into his place. Jephte doesn’t seem to want to live with her. But it looks like that is the plan.
On the last night, they finally sleep in the same room together, in two different beds. As part of their daily exercise the do the sentence completion. Jephte starts with You are my wife… and I am in it for the long haul. Shawniece says, “Awwwwww.” And Jephte gets embarrassed and hides under his sheets. What is he ten? This was all Shawniece needed to hear on the entire trip. If he would have said that on the first day the honeymoon would have been much easier for both of them. Shawniece said, “You are my husband, and I have your back.” Both of these were just perfect. They both seem very content. Shawniece pushes it a bit and asks if he wants to share her bed with her. He says, “nope!” They both giggle and she tries to get in his bed. He says he will leave if she gets in his bed. They both lay in their separate beds giggling.
The Husbands & Wives Get Together To Chat
Molly asks how they felt when they initially saw their husbands. Jaclin and Shawniece both say there were no fireworks and it wasn’t an immediate attraction. Molly says that Jon is literally the class clown all day long. Jaclin can relate. Molly says at the end of the day, Jon is still a stranger. Shawniece begs her not to use the S word. She gets enough of that from Jephte. Wow, Shawniece lets it out that she and Jephte sleep in two separate bedrooms. Jaclin lets the girls know she and Ryan slept together and it went well.
Jon says their conversation with the expert was “stupid.” Jephte asks if he will just give the topic and Jon refuses to talk about it at all. Jephte says that Shawniece hates when he calls her a stranger. Jephte says if he wasn’t married he would have walked out the first night. Jon says if he wasn’t married, he wouldn’t have been in the situation and says this is the longest first date ever. Ryan takes some digs at Jon for being unemployed. That’s a dick move.
Next week: Shawniece moves in with Jephte and he sleeps on the floor in the living room. She cries and says she is tired of feeling like she is not wanted. She needs to do like that one girl did and go home and make him chase her. Or just go home and file for divorce. Jaclin unpacks a lot of emotional baggage while moving in with Ryan.
Ugh, i wish Shawniece would just leave him. He is not interested in her and this will not end well. I think she can do better.
Shawniece got a horrible deal. Jephte acts as though he was tricked into being on the show and didn’t have a clue he would be marrying a dreaded Stranger. He acts like a scared little boy who’s scared of any kind of romantic relationship. What’s he doing on this show?! I want to jump into the TV and shake him. You ninny, Jephte! I really believe he’s not at all attracted to her. Not in the slightest. He told her she was beautiful, but I think he was being polite. She made no effort at all to make herself look pretty the first morning they were together – her hair was a bushy mess, she had big old ugly glasses on, and she didn’t seem to care. I understand wanting the guy to love you for her you are, but at least make who you are an appealing sight. Some of her other photos make her look very pretty, so it’s not like she’s incapable of oozing out a little sex appeal. Still, she did say she didn’t find him attractive at first, so maybe that plays into it. He’s just not feeling her at all and I think the “go away, you’re a scary stranger” act is to save himself from being honest. I might be surprised and they might hook up, but things will have to change a lot from what I saw on that episode. When she joked with him and threatened to get into his bed, I thought his reaction was downright weird. It was as though he was a monk in a monastery and the Reverend Mother, from the convent next door, tried to crawl under the sheets.I’m surprised he doesn’t have his weenie wrapped up in a stainless steel shield.
Jackie is right to be leery of Ryan, but then she shouldn’t have slept with him on the first night., especially if she didn’t initially find him attractive. He’s good with his words, but we all know words can be denied and changed. It would be hard to believe, knowing that you could feel like a real fool in just a few weeks, if not days.
Molly and Jon don’t seem well suited either. Even though they’re equally attractive, I don’t think there’s the basis for even a real friendship there. She’s seen his type many times before, and isn’t impressed, and he’s not used to his “charming ways” not immediately getting a woman to have sex with him.
I don’t see the potential for any of these couples making it, but then I said that about Doug and Jamie from 2014, and they’re still married and have a beautiful baby. She really wasn’t into him at first, in fact, you could almost see the distaste on her face, but he hung in there and eventually won her over.
Molly and Jon
uh… you have to remember shaunice’s luggage was lost — she had no cute clothes, makeup, hair products, etc. I wonder what the other two would have acted like if they were in the same situation. Jephte, you have a gem you don’t appreciate…and she deserves better than you, dude
You have a point – I didn’t remember that, I just thought she wasn’t making any effort to look good. She looks entirely different with makeup on, but even that doesn’t seem to impress Jephte. I’m afraid he’s a lost cause. He doesn’t see the sweetness in her, or her great sense of humor. Still can’t understand what he’s even doing on the show. Complete waste of a prospective life partner.
I really hope we’re wrong, but my husband and I think Jephte is terrorized by his mother, and deathly afraid to come out of the closet. He may even be lying to himself. Shawniece might be a beard.
I don’t have much hope for any of these three couples.
I agree that Jephte seems like he isn’t ready for marriage. Why did he do this show?
I like Ryan less and less as the show goes on–his digs at Jon were completely rude, and he seems too over-the-top, and thus insincere, in the things he says to Jaclyn. She is suspicious that he is not sincere. It feels like he is play-acting all the things one would do and say if one were on a honeymoon with someone you know well and love, but since he and Jaclyn are just now getting to know each other, it seems fake.
I’m so over Jephe. He DEF should not have come on this show.. I mean he had to know before hand that he’d be marrying a ‘stranger’ right? Poor Shawniece.. she’s trying, but I feel like she will get tired of his pushing her away and she will say to hell with this and leave. I cant say I blame her.. Jephe’s not even trying. Hes been straight up rude to her at times. Who would stick around for that?
Molly and Jon seemed to be in a ‘better’ place after he confessed how she ‘really’ felt about him.. You could see Jon trying to not be his ‘norm’ silly self, but hey.. maybe they’ll come to a nice middle space.. but I kinda doubt it.
I think Jackie and Ryan slept together way too soon.. Jackies got baggage from her previous relationship and probably shouldntve jumped into a marriage with a stranger no less. Shes not emotionally ready for that.
Like others here.. I dont think any of these couples will make it.
Loving your nails Ms Jae
So TT you know I was waiting on this recap. Personally I still have hope for Jephte and Shawniece. I think outside of the TV following them around I think they are doing well. I think he doesn’t want to be himself or maybe he doesn’t trust himself on TV. I think they will be fine, but he isn’t Americas favorite person at this time and I’m not sure if he really cares. I like Jon. Molly on the other hand you can see she’s kind of a witch. Ryan needs to slow it down. He’s doing too much and it isn’t coming off as real. Oh and Shawniece has got to stop with all that dam crying. She is a huge cry baby. Sweetheart you don’t know this man well enough to allow him to pull those type of emotions out of you.
Totally agree with all you said!!
I like Jephte. I do think he needs to loosen up a bit. But, damn, Shawniece would drive me nuts! Maybe if she backed off a bit he might show her some affection or something. She seems to be harping on him 24/7!!! Yes, he keeps saying “stranger”, but HE’S RIGHT!!! Just take things slow! She wants to act like they’ve known each other for years!
Jon & Molly make a cute couple, but she does seem kindy witchy. She seems very reserved & prudish. Girl needs to lighten up a bit!
Ryan & Jaclyn – Ryan is a huuuuge douche!! Can’t stand him or his personality! He was so rude to Jon & just a d*ck! I don’t think Jaclyns over the loss of her ex either. It hadn’t even been 2 years when she got married to douchelord Ryan. Idk what it is about her, but something bugs me about her too.
I think this show needs new “experts”. What? 3 outta 9 couples are still together? Horrible stats!
The only thing I like about Ryan, at the very end when they were checking out her offered to pay for another week if she wanted to stay…I can’t say I wouldn’t have taken him up on it!
They can’t stay another week. They are on a strict filming schedule and he knows that.
I know… but the last couple of days of vacations I’m looking at how to stay wherever I am…I start looking at the real estate, businesses etc, try to figure out how to stay a few extra days and so on!!! That’s totally me…
I do the same. I once lengthened by trip to Vegas TWICE. I was going to lengthen Paris last time by my dog sitter refused to sit any longer lol.
I know… but the last couple of days of vacations I’m looking at how to stay wherever I am…I start looking at the real estate, businesses etc, try to figure out how to stay a few extra days and so on!!! That’s totally me…
Don’t know why that double poated, sorry
I will add at the minimum I nearly always get a late check out.
Me too on late check out if my flight is late. The bad thing about coming home from Europe is the flights are BEFORE NOON. lol.
I HATE early flights leaving my destination but I try to get the earliest going to (destination. )
As far as the success rate, this is the sixth season, so that means there have been 15 previous couples, and only 3 couples are still together–two from the first season, and Ashley and Anthony from last year (Chicago). I think that’s a pretty dismal rate. And if you add in Second Chances, when they repeated Vanessa and David, it’s even worse.
The only one of the experts I’ve ever really liked is Dr. Pepper Schwarz.
I don’t think the “experts” get to use their expertise in choosing who will be on the show. They seem to pick the people that will lure us into watching, and people who are good looking (Molly), strange (Jepthe) sad (Jacklyn), loser (Ryan) and then someone who we all will route for, Shaunice. I realize I left out Jon – he plays the …. I am not sure why they picked Jon.
