Nate is starting to burn out on being locked up.
Andrew is still working with Timothy helping him read. But Timothy is annoying AF and Andrew sometimes loses his temper with him. This is one of those times. Andrew cancels Bible study. I think it is pretty funny that Andrew is seemingly having the best coping skills out of all of them. Later, Andrew feels bad about losing his temper. Andrew receives a letter with bad news. It seems like both Timothy’s mom and his wife have serious health problems and need medical care they can’t afford. Andrew offers to let Timothy use his phone pass.
I can barely watch Matt’s scenes because he never washes his greasy hair. I have a sensitive gag trigger and he trips it every week. Matt and Johnny both realize the other is in the program. Matt reveals that is son is also in the program and he is next door. Johnny says his son is in for twelve years.
Finally, we get to Emmanuel. For those of you playing along at home, he was the one that came in last week showboating all over the place, taking the film crew on and interview and becoming a huge distraction by acting like a fool. In his interview he says he thinks he is fitting in great. There is always one of these guys. He’s like the male Stephanie. He seems to be changing his schtick from fool to thug.
We start the episode off this week in the women’s annex where all the drama was going down last week. Angele has a crush on a new inmate. Angele’s crush, Gabrielle, was on her way to college, but ended up hooked on drugs instead. Angele has begun a playful friendship with her.
But before we get to that, we need to finish the ridiculous drug party scenes. Are the only cameras in the actual sleeping areas from the show? Aren’t these people supposed to be monitored at all times? How than they continue to have drug parties all the time in a freaking jail? The girls have been in for about a month. Stephanie is now making whippits for the other girls. She’s not just participating in the drug use, she is perpetuating it. She is thrilled to be popular. Last week she told the cameras that Jaclin needed her more than she needed Jaclin because Jaclin is the minority now.
Rather than eating random prescription paste, Jaclin starts dying things pink and purple. Probably with Kool-Aid packets. She’s had lots of request for her prison fashion line. This is pissing off ole crazy eyes. Later at meds call, a guard calls Jaclin out of line for her pink fashions. They all explain that it is just Kool-Aid. The guard tells her she can wear her scarf in her room but not in the main area. Jaclin complies and takes the scarf off. She was very polite to the guard and returned to her place in line. The guard continued to make comments about the pink and Jaclin pointed out that she did as she was asked and didn’t know why she was still talking about it. This pissed the guard off and she had another guard come in. That guard asked what was wrong and Jaclin said that the other guard is racist. The first guard says if she gets written up, that is fourteen days on lockdown. The second guard takes her with her. Jaclin is allowed back into the pod after speaking with a sergeant. (Just discovered I’ve lived my whole life without knowing how to spell sergeant. It looks so wrong to me.)
Stephanie decided to pal up with the pod boss Swole and the other big girls in the cell. The thing about Stephanie is that she is a moron. She thinks she is the belle of the ball or MAE as she puts it. So while Swole is negotiating her drug deal, Stephanie starts asking lots of questions about her meds. Swole replies, “Are you the police?” Stephanie does some sort of pill swap deal with Swole and another inmate. I couldn’t follow the whole thing, I have a bit of hearing problem these days and need to rely just a touch on lip reading and that was not possible with the overhead shot. The screen says that Stephanie traded a pill on behalf of the third girl. To complete the deal, Swole needs to hand off her medication. And she does. Now Stephanie has drugs on her. She seems to think this is good for her cover. Stephanie then hands off the pill to the other girl. Jaclin sees her do it. Jaclin says that the pod bosses are basically using Stephanie as a mule. She’s just too stupid to realize it.
Later the guards come in and put everyone on lockdown and head to Jaclin’s room. The tell her she has to take all the pictures down off her wall. Jaclin still hasn’t learned when to keep her mother shut. So the guard tells her to step down and they start walking her out she cries racism once again. The guards yell at her to keep walking. The episode ends with Jaclin going to segregation. I bet she rats out Jaclin saying something like there are black girls in there getting high all day I am am in trouble for putting pictures on the wall and making pink bras.
Next week: Someone 500 has stolen “the football kitty” and an inmate investigation is underway. The women’s annex smells like gas. Now it’s a gas link. Last season the sewer flooded the pods. In one of the Indiana seasons they had a sewer break. That is three big deal safety problems in four seasons. Colonel Mark and two other police officers show up for some tantrum that Emmanuel has. I think he is the one going to blow the cover. Things move to the next level with Angele and Gabrielle.
