I started this post yesterday but there were so many conflicting stories that I decided to wait for today when Luann’s hearing was scheduled to take place.
Yesterday, Florida state attorney declined to prosecute two counts of corruption by threat and battery on a law enforcement officer that the arresting officer initially charged her with. She was then formally charged with resisting an officer with violence, trespassing an occupied structure and disorderly intoxication. The first charge is a felony and the other two are misdemeanors. This was a step in the right direction.
After her arrest, Luann hired attorney Doug Duncan to represent her. Duncan is the attorney that got Tiger Woods out of trouble after his last DUI that he blamed on taking medication for back pain and drinking. He immediately went to rehab just like Luann. The similarities in the two cases don’t end there. Duncan was set to attend Luann’s hearing today in her place as the judge allowed her to stay in New York and work. Then today, the hearing was cancelled just like Tiger’s was. If thing continue to follow the “Duncan format” we can expect for Lu to get a plea deal hammered out pretty quickly.
And America’s great tragedy will finally be over.
Some details in this post were taken from this Page Six article who were first to report the hearing has been cancelled.
