I don’t know why I always push this show to the back of the recap line. I think it might be because I really like it. I’m sort of the same way with my Parts Unknown episodes that I pile up on my DVR. I rarely think it is a good time to watch the new ones because I don’t have the time to focus on the episode because I am multitasking. Anyway, I am dying to see the situation between Josh Flagg and his husband and Josh Flagg and Josh Altman and I am also very interested in the dynamic between Tracy and her husband considering they are now divorcing.
Josh Flagg & The Brits
Josh and Bobby aren’t really speaking after the Mile High Club Party. It’s only been a couple days and Flagg is filing his time with work. It appears that Josh Flagg and the Brits are going to team up for a co-listing because the seller is a bit eccentric. The Brits apparently thing that Flagg could help them relate to the seller. Or not. The seller is Anna and she is batshit crazy. There is no way to accurately recap her crazy. She inherited a lot of money from somewhere and now wants to sell the house that is her safety net so she can travel the world and drink and smoke. Sounds very similar to my future plans.
Josh and Bobby eventually call a truce. But now the Brits are mad at him. They are doing all the work and he is a co-lister in name only. He’s not doing any work on the sale. Later, James and Flagg present an offer to Anna. I am not sure what the heck is happening with David this season. It seems like he is never filming. I’ve reached out to sources to inquire and they just said he was really busy selling real estate and had a big year with not much time to film. I mean, Fredrik Eklund has really big years and does his show and a spin off and just filmed with Tracy Maltas for this season.
Anyway, since we first met Anna she’s gone from having long dark hair to shaving her head into a blond mohawk. She also changed her phone number due to a crazy stalker who she says is now in prison. There is a lot of crazy going on here. While James is on the phone with the buyers agent, Anna offers to be Flaggs surrogate for his future babies. He politely declines citing her chain-smoking as the reason. Then, she said she would like to give him her eggs as a wedding gift. I don’t think she has the DNA he is looking for. They close the deal at $3.1 million.
Tracy
Tracy is flying to NYC for three days to meet with Howard Lorber the Chairman of Douglas Elliman to try to get in on the ground floor of a new development in LA. She will be gone for three days and Jason is pitching a fit about it. Could you imagine a wife pitching a fit over a three day business trip her husband has to go on? She has organized all the girls activities in her absence.
Tracy’s first stop in NYC is to see Fredrik Eklund for a bit of advice before she approaches the big guy. Fredrik schools her on all the pressures involved with working with a developer over a reseller. They want their money back very quickly. Fredrik tells her that she can’t work with developers as one person, she needs a team. The meeting with Douglas Elliman goes well and she will be referred to a developer soon.
Josh Altman
Altman is still trying to sell the ginormous property he recently listed by making it very difficult to get a showing. There seems to be some interest.
Later he brings Heather a gift. It’s a necklace with the baby’s name on it. I am not impressed. I hate name necklaces anyway. It’s right up there with getting your own name tattooed on your body. But won’t everyone think he name is Alexis when she wears it?
Josh gets an offer of $22 million dollars on the $30 million dollar listing. Hey, at least it is an offer. By the time he goes to meet with the seller, he has a second offer. The second offer is for $23.5 million. The seller rips up a $22 million dollar check for the first offer. The negotiate the second offer up to $25 million and sell the house.
I am officially caught up on last weeks recapping thirty minutes before the new week begins. Yay!
Except the house in Bradbury Estates is still on the market so the whole thing was staged. Quel surprise 🙂
Well that is depressing news. IS NOTHING REAL????????????? 🙁
LOL – I’m surprised by your reaction. I thought you were as cynical as me 🙂
I am! Which is why I also assumed it would be stupid to lie about selling a house and making a giant commission when it is PUBLIC RECORD.
It would seem this would damage your career.
Unlike say, Dorit pretending to own the house she lives in that Boy George rents.
Lol. For whatever reason, this kind of puffery doesn’t seem to have any impact.
I’ve always wondered why these guys televise their lying during negotiations and gloating about it as I would think that would make other agents completely mistrustful of anything they claim. Not that a shrewd negotiator is going to rely on the opposition but you surely don’t want a reputation as a complete liar.
I used to negotiate as my career and you could be a shrewd negotiator but you never wanted to get a reputation as someone who lied during negotiation. One always assumed you would either do business again with that person or with people who would learn about your reputation as a liar.
Wanted to add that I had never heard of Bradbury Estates and when I googled the Altman Brothers listing for that place was one of the first things that came up with what I think is a price reduction.
The location is the oddest place as it’s in the middle of nowhere and except for it being a small enclave with large estates, it doesn’t seem to be a particularly desirable area. There are some odd wealthy people like I think one was the In and Out heiress but I suspect that most of the owners are just parking their foreign money there like the characters in those fabulous Crazy Rich Asian books. Those are a fabulous fun read if anyone is looking for some escapist literature.

Yes it is. Sad. I need a show to believe in. Really I do!
Does anyone else notice that Tracy has a filter when she films? Nobody else does. It’s as if she doesn’t want to look like a real person. Like they smear petroleum jelly on the camera lens.
I’ve noticed it. It looks like “soft” lighting to make her look young and beautiful. It’s very Glamour Shots.
I was going to say the same thing! It’s weird looking, and I like her but it is very distracting.
It does look very strange – just slightly more definition than a cartoon. I can’t imagine she would look that bad without it. I really like her, but this definitely is bothersome in her portrayal.
Petroleum jelly on the lens was how they used to film Loretta Young, but now custom lenses are used. I once met a fellow cruiser in Cartegena who made specialty lenses for the industry when he wasn’t sailing.
My ex-husband has his name tattoo’d on his shoulder. Nuff said!
My ex husband wore a belt buckle with his name in 2 inch letters. I suggested he wear it upside down so all he had to do was stare at his belly button when he forgot his name. He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. He also failed to appreciate my humor.
Oh, Josh Altman let us down. Man drives around in a Bentley, I thought he had some taste and style. I thought there was going to be something special in that box…. And it’s a name necklace-and in the baby’s name. What a lame present.
If I was Josh Flagg, that wedding would have been cancelled if my SO had dreased me down in that manner, on TV, in front of a rival agent.
The latest dated thing I can find on the internet is that the Bliss Canyon estate was sold in September 2017 and is not currently for sale. If I’m wrong I’m sure someone will correct me.
In the scene with Altman and Heather there’s a continuity issue. He gave her the necklace, she already had one on that said Love. Next shot she only had the Alexis necklace on. Next shot she had both on.
I love how we can call them down on FAKE happenings……i.e. Josh A. big commission. lololol
I am beginning to dislike Josh Flagg intensely. He is such a prissy wimp and I promise you that marriage
will not last two years if that much. Flagg obviously thinks he’s better than anyone else and needs the chit beat out of him to bring him down to reality. Not to into Tracy either, however, her ex-husband is hot.
Josh Flagg does seem to have slacked off in the real estate business the last year or two-he’s not nearly as driven or intense about it.
Josh Flagg is the best thing about this show. Josh Altman, too, especially when Heather is included in his bits. But, Flagg, hands down is my favorite. Have my doubts, though, that he will fare well in life due to his alcohol consumption. Now, while he is still quite young, he gets away with looking good still, but as age advances he will show bad signs from his problem with the booze. Also, sure wish he and his partner will be happy but realistically, I have my doubts. Brian talked way to offensively to Josh and in front of others and that was not a good sign. Either Brian (?) has a drug problem and was out of control that day, or he just has an inner hatred of his partner – resentment of Josh’s privileged life.
Bobby is Flagg’s husband’s name.
Off topic, have adored Anthony Bourdain, his shows and books for years. However, this year’s shows seem slacker. There’s a lot of joking around with fellow chefs, for example, and less adventure.
It was so tacky when the Altman brothers arrived in that helicopter for the meeting, plus the property looks completely soul-less. It is made for mafia to live in a place like that. Just a stupid show-off.
I think David has been reduced to a supporting character, sort of like Matt Altman, he’s always around but never the main focus. Truthfully, I’m happier with it this way, I wasn’t crazy about their dynamic together and I’ve really grown to like James now that we see his personality more.
