Kyle Richards Speaks About The Recent Robbery

January 11, 2018 by tamaratattles 46 Comments

Kyle Richards is having a hard time dealing with the recent burglary at her new house. While Kyle and her family were on a recent vacation in Aspens, robbers entered her home and stole all of her jewelry, all of her handbags, all of Mauricio’s watches, they even made off with her passport.

Kyle is devastated by the loss of things she had hoped to pass down to her daughters.  She spoke with Bravo Dish about the loss.

“I keep telling myself, these are just things, they are. But it still really hurts a lot. My mom left me things she had collected her whole life, passed those onto me, and I wanted to pass those things on to my four daughters. And every time I buy something or I’ve been given something, I think, ‘Well, these are gonna be for my daughters one day.’ Really, every gift I’ve ever been given, everything my mother left me, everything that I worked my butt off to buy for myself, all of it has been taken.”

The loss of her most prized possessions has her reevaluating what is important in life. When the family heard the news in Aspen, it was suggested that they go shopping and begin replacing some of the items, but Kyle had no interest in doing that. She told Bravo Dish:

“After you’ve had so much taken from you, I find myself not wanting to buy anything else right now. I’m looking at things differently in this moment. I don’t know how I’m gonna feel in six months or a year. I really don’t know. But the thought of going out and spending a lot of money on a handbag or something like that now just is something that’s not appealing to me because now I have this negative connotation with it. So I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m gonna do moving forward.”

Kyle says she thinks she will tone down her social media and not announce when she is going out of town. She is no longer going to keep any jewelry in her house, it will all be in the bank because she has not desire to wear it anymore. She has borrowed a few pieces for events lately.  Perhaps that explains the fingerless gloves she wore on Megyn Kelly yesterday.

The experience seems to have really shaken her and made her sad. She’s going through some of the same feelings that Kim Kardashian had after being robbed in Paris. She has amped up security at the new house, the dogs are back home and there are now two armed guards on site. She says there is nothing left to steal but they give her a bit of comfort after the violation of her home.

I think for a while we will be seeing a very toned down Kyle Richards. I hope she gets back to her old self really soon.

Years ago I came home from work to see my two little Lhasa Apsos sitting in an open door. Guns and jewelry were taken, I had insurance, but it was the violation. Not knowing WHO was in my condo and what they touched or what they did with what they touched unnerved me. Open drawers suggested they had gone thru much of my clothing which I bagged and donated.

Police told me to be grateful they did not harm my dogs or do damage to the place. I was renting so I moved the next month.

While I had a lot of really nice jewelry, I had nothing the value of Kyle nor did I have children except for my dogs, but that violation stayed with me for years and made me almost paranoid about deadbolts and whatever I needed to feel safe.

Whoever robbed Kyle knew exactly what they wanted and will probably never try again, but that won’t matter to her or her family. The damage is done, emotionally.

I hope Paris is paying attention with her new engagement bauble!

SO true. I had a break in and it’s the violation of your home and knowing someone was looking at your habits; work etc. I was paranoid for months. My neighbor saw them and did not call the police. Lost my safety and some heirloom family jewelry. Insurance is nothing compared to know someone targeted you!
Had bars put on house … then later moved.

I came home from work one day and after sitting in my living room for about 10 minuets, suddenly realized that the TV and stereo were gone. As was all my jewelry. The scary part: I had to unlock the door when I came home. Police said that someone with a set of master keys (like a locksmith has) was breaking in to people’s places. I purchased new jewelry with the insurance proceeds that Inliked better. I would be sad to lose that jewelry, but things are just things and, ultimately, aren’t that important. My years teaching about the Holocaust taught me that hard truth.

Did I dream this or was there a scene in the last episode where Kyle had all kinds of jewelry laid out on a table in her walk-in closet? If so, probably not smart to show it. Feel bad for her – the loss of things with sentimental value is heartbreaking, and the chances of recovering them are low. Perhaps a good thing to come out of this will be Kyle’s recognition that spending beaucoup bucks on handbags, etc., is really pretty meaningless.

EnglishRose, I don’t know, but I DO remember LVP and her immense closet and her jewels laid out on tables. She probably figures thieves wouldn’t dare cross the Swans’ paths to get in OR then get out!

Seriously, she has had a line of costume jewelry on a shopping channel for several years now so probably a lot of what she wears is that and the good stuff is in vaults, but with so much gorgeous faux gemstones out now, I don’t know why anyone would even want the real stuff except for heirlooms. Why even take the chance.

My grandmother told me she was at a Hollywood party in the 30’s when armed robbers broke in and lined everyone up. One woman swallowed her diamond ring. Who would do that now??? We’d all be worried medical insurance wouldn’t pay for the torn trachea!

My home was robbed while I was on my honeymoon. My good jewelry was in the bank but they stole my deceased father and his father’s father’s guns.

It felt like my roots were wiped out just like that.

My pet sitter thankfully got there soon enough that my cats did not get out of the house and he and his wife stayed there for four hours while the police went through the home.

My pet sitter also decorated my deck for the holidays while they waited.

    It was such a violation.

I hope Kyle was wearing her mother’s ring and didn’t lose it.

JoJo, the two rifles I had stolen had just been given to me by my grandfather the month before and they were WWI. He died the next month and I was so devastated over losing those rifles just because they were his and he had had them all those years. I had them a month and they were gone. Of course, they never surfaced either so I totally get how you feel.

Honestly , if it were me , I would move out of the valley and back to a safer enclave . The valley is riddled with burglaries , home envision attacks even with people home. On the news every day here there are attacks during the day, and night . With this recent felon release law, just too many criminals , repeat avenders , and organized crime rings. You especially are a target if you flaunt your wealth for the world to see.

I agree with you. And Kyle seems to have good instincts because she never wanted to move. I wonder if they will stay in that house. It is not a lucky way to begin. And to have 2 guards – just because? And sorry, but I have heard of cases where it is the guards who did them in. I hope Kyle heals well and soon, and that she now does whatever and lives wherever makes her feel comfortable and truly happy.

Burglaries are way up in the San Fernando Valley largely because the jail is there in Van Nuys. The criminals are back out on the street so fast it’s a joke, and they begin re-offending before they get 5 miles from jail. Californians need to start voting as if they care about crime.

No, that’s not the correlation. Voters passed propositions 47 and 57 which made theft a misdemeanor. You can steal up to $950 a day and not get busted for grand larceny. You will not get charged for multiple offenses. Criminals know this and are taking advantage of it big time here. AB109 moves violent criminals from state prisons to county jails. County jails are over crowded and criminals are being let out early. If you are a parolee, you only get what is called a flash incarceration if picked up for a parole violation, you get 10 days in jail. This is why burglaries are up and more cops are being killed in the past few years.

The operational objective of these propositions was to reduce nonviolent crimes to misdemeanors – offenders are still processed and charged. Your rhetoric is ridiculous and incendiary; to act as if Prop 47 and 57 has created a cycle of petty theft criminals being arrested, only to be “freed from the law”, and then IMMEDIATELY revert to theft once they leave jail (which is exactly what you insinuated, in that living in proximity to a jail has increased levels of crime).

You’re trying to paint a picture of a hysterical mob of thieves roaming the streets, acting with impunity because the law can’t touch them. A misdemeanor entails having to be processed through the court system, taking a mugshot if via arrest, etc. Not to mention, burglary is not a petty crime. I’m sure you’re trying to insinuate that petty theft evolves into burglary under proposition 47, but I dont think it has to be said that’s …delusional.

My original comment still holds; if this were the case, you would see this phenomenon at a majority of jails in California. You would seriously argue that?

Yes, I would argue that. I am not stating there is a hysterical mob of thieves roaming the streets but I am arguing crime has gone up since those propositions have been passed. It is no coincidence that burglaries have gone up in affluent areas and you are hearing more about celebrity break ins since those props passed.

              January 12, 2018 at 10:31 pm

What celebrity break ins are you referring to?

If you want to focus on crime rate in conjuncture with public figures, I guess let’s ignore the pervasive usage of social media (and an increase in programming the glamorizes the consumption of wealth) over the last few years, and the clear indication that it’s being used for planning – its much more reasonable to assume a petty criminal who left jail without being charged decided to stop by Kyle’s new house, when she happened to have no dogs or security present.

Instead, let’s blame a proposition that’s almost four years old.

You are an idiot and know NOTHING ABOUT CALIFORNIA! This early release has increased ALL types of crimes, including murders. The police know all about this and this topic is on many news radio shows locally here for just this reason–they get out ‘early’ for the overcrowding situation BUT WORSE–THEY KNOW THEY WILL BE RELEASED EARLY SO THERE IS NO DETERRENT TO KEEP THEM FROM BEING THE CRIMINALS THEY ARE AND PEOPLE ARE PAYING WITH THEIR LIVES AND BELONGINGS WHEN THEY GO IN FOR THE INVASION HOME ROBBERIES—WHICH IS TOTAL TERROR.

SORRY BUT IF YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FIRST HAND DON’T TALK ABOUT IT TO ANYONE WHO DOES—AND HOW QUICK YOU ARE TO TRY TO FORM STUPID ‘HYSTERICAL BAND OF THIEVES,’ RHETORIC ALONG WITH UM, WHO CARES HOW OLD A PROPOSITION IS? THIS BEHAVIOR ISN’T NEW—IT IS NEW TO KYLE AND HER FAMILY—BUT IT IS NOT NEW TO THE POLICE WHO ARE HAVING TO CONSTANTLY CLEAN UP AFTER IDIOT GOV BROWN’S ASININE POLITICS.

I fell terrible for Kyle and her family. It’s such an invasion of what is supposed to be personal space! My roommates and I were burglarized over a spring break in college and I was first to arrive back to find the door kicked in and apartment randsacked. My two roommates came from wealthy families and had lots of items stolen, one of them was a cokehead, so as soon as they entered her room and saw evidence of drugs, they tossed everything of hers. By the time they made it to my room, they must have realized I was the poor one and took very little, but it felt awful. Having a stranger walk about your place taking what they wanted….it’s something you never forget. I was raised in a small town where doors were never locked. To this day I still make rounds every night making sure all is secure before I hit the hay, let alone when we leave for a vacation! The unsteady feeling never quite leaves you once it’s happened!

I grew up in the 1980’s in an upper class suburb of NYC. This was a time when no one had house alarms and practically left their doors unlocked. After, our house got robbed 2 times, my parents finally got an alarm system and I remember feeling violated as a little girl. Thank goodness no one was home and my cat was an indoor outdoor cat, but I had nightmares about robberies ever since. The first robbery, my mom and dad had valuable jewelry and coins stolen. They were smart to get safety deposit boxes at the bank to put their most valuable stuff in. However, my brother’s coin collection was stolen that was very upsetting since he inherited it from a great uncle. I feel bad for Kyle, but she should know better than to show on social media she’s away and especially during any kind of construction where random strangers are working in your home, you make sure your valuables are either in safety deposit boxes at the bank, a trusted friends home or if you are really wealthy, locked up in a panic room! I think a lot of burglaries of celebs have taken place in Beverly Hills, so I don’t think her move from Bel Air to Encino neighborhoods is the reason. I think the family didn’t learn their lesson from her niece Paris’s home robberies from the past. Also, I wonder if Kyle’s infamous big, ugly diamond ring she always wears, that was made, during S1 by her jewlers, around her mother Kathy’s diamond, was one of the prized possessions stolen? We all know how much she has coveted that ring every season.

Feel bad for Kyle, but dumb in so many ways. She is mega rich and will be just fine,
Also live in an NYC suburb and only lock the front door during the day, but lock all entrances at night. We have gates etc. but guess I am being dumb as well. There won’t be 1 million in jewelry and hand bags waiting. I could picture a robber saying I need to declutter though.

Your last sentence cracked me up because I said the same thing about our home. First, they would probably slip and break something if our long-haired Maine Coon girl had just hurled a hairball (sorry, non- cat people – they do that) and then there is the organized chaos all over the place. I actually had to buy Origami shelving units to make my clutter appear neat. I keep trying to downsize and have Salvation Army on auto dial, but there is just so much to go through. And, I keep cutting down boxes and saving them in the garage for when I might need them ! You will never see me on Hoarders because my clutter is clean and neat clutter – ha. But, no robber in his/her right mind would venture in here and then stay to try and find something because nothing is where it should be.

I agree about the massive rings. They do look dumb. And, so outdated. And, they obviously don’t shop using a grocery cart! Long gold chains and big rings do not mix well with them.

Susan Sullivan drowned on Falconcrest because her huge engagement/wedding ring got caught in the swimming pool drain and sucked her down and she couldn’t get the ring off and that ring was nothing like the honkers these gals are wearing. Made an impression on me circa 1978 I believe.

The whole miscommunication thing about Kyle’s security alarm system not being turned on would, in my world, cause a whole hell of a lot of trouble because that was just so stupid. Mauricio does that for a living going in and out of these mega homes so he would do it automatically which makes me think he was not the one who forgot to turn it on when the last person left the house for the trip.

And, now strangers patrolling the grounds with guns and then the big dogs. So much for casual sex by/in the pool or early morning nude swims…yeah, I would be moving sometime this year back to an area I was more comfortable in. Why have all that wealth and beautiful grounds only to be a prisoner in it? Dumb.

I can understand keeping private life private, I just do that because it’s how I am comfortable, very little fb, instagram, etc….BUT the blame is 100% on these criminals. All my jewelry in my driveway in broad daylight is MY jewelry! Do not trespass then steal it!!! If someone was after their particular items? They’d have eventually found a way, they are criminals not “opportunists!

I’ve changed or should say I’ve allowed my tougher side to have its way recently. My softer side is in time out.
Mauricio knows when homes are For Sale, when moving, having renovations done, those homes are at a higher risk for thefts. For no one in that family to be in charge of security is ridiculous. It’s still does not diminish Kyles feelings.
Plus having a top notch security system is not a problem for people with a decent income. There are devices that lock your home down and if anyone gets inside there are choices for that.
    You hear me Florida boy!

The handbags and watches being numbered and registered I think this crime could be solved, this quality and quantity of items is being sold somewhere. After checking local fences, Las Vegas would be my first thought.
Kyle could get mad and hire private investigaters.

One thing about liberal states, they don’t know how to fix the consequences of their actions. California’s solution to crime is reduced sentences to prevent overcrowding, reduce police to prevent pension payouts, close courts on Fridays to cut costs, and pass laws to avoid hurting criminals feelings.

As the country leans towards appeasing criminal behaviour, victims will realize they either deserve it or complain to much about criminal behaviour.

BTW the postvwere ppl were discussing legal pot,

        For so you know;
Trump just removed Obama’s hands-off Federal policy towards the States which voted marijuana to be legal. Federal law over rules Stare law. Now the Feds will be coming back, again.
This could be a financial disaster for those business that have invested millions. In the 90’s the idea was to give Columbia (to fight drugs) free import on flowers/plants. That shut down a California billion dollar flower industry in one year,. All over the state there can still be seen acres of huge greenhouses flapping in the wind. Not so many now, turned them into pot farming. All of that success could be gone. That’s okay it’s a blue state.

I wonder if it was an inside job friend-of-an-insider thing. Like a housekeeper/contractor/employee knew of the upcoming vacation and mentioned it to her boyfriend or brother. I read of a string of burglaries they solved by realizing all of the women went to the same hairdresser!! Her boyfriend was burglarizing the homes.

Lots of women go in for cuts and color right before their vacations and of course it’s a topic with the hairdresser. “Oh, how long will you be there (gone)?” seems innocent enough.
