America’s Next Top Model: The Boss Is Back

January 10, 2018 by tamaratattles 17 Comments

I’m curious to check in with ANTM after many years of ignoring it to see if it is a show that’s still worth watching. I’m not sure if this will be a recap, it may be more of a review. I’ll know more once I’ve seen it.

Okay, I watched the entire thing and I loved it. It’s impossible to recap until we get down to the finalists. But I was mesmerized the entire time. This will be a hard show for me to recap because you really need to have your eyes on the TV at all times. But I will definitely be looking forward to the episodes.

Tyra is still Tyra in all her over inflated ego glory. She’s back, and she’s the boss, applesauce. I love Ashley Graham. I didn’t mind the new silver headed guy, Drew Eliot. I might could get used to Law Roach. The panel will never measure up to the iconic originals, but I am in. Apparently, the catch phrase Tyra is trying to make happen this season is, “next level fierceness.” Let’s hope she doesn’t continue her quest to make that a thing, but you know it is going to be repeated ad nauseam on every episode.

I loved how they axed Tami Roman’s daughter right off the bat. I do not see what they see in Coura. Liz is batshit crazy.

This week we mainly saw all the hopefuls and then it was cut down to 14 after some odd ball photoshoot where everyone wore a freaky costume. Drew says this is their opportunity to show their true selves. Um, they look like peacocks and characters from Rocky Horror Picture Show and Lady Gaga video extras. This is the complete opposite of being their true selves, Drew. The peacock and some other chick who got a bad costume were Auf’d immediately. They were not allowed to stomp in the fashion show.

There is already a ton of crazy in the house and Liz is trying to take the title of head nutjob. It looks like a good season. I cannot wait until the exceedingly cruel episode where they make them cut or dye their hair, just to prove Tyra owns them.

Spoiler Alert! I was so sad to see Erin leave. She was a beautiful 34-year-old mother. Then Tyra comes to tell her she is sorry, as she is loading her bags on to the elevator. She was so graceful and kind to Tyra. Then Tyra whips out her photo and says she is staying. There are 15 girls staying in the competition. I was so happy for her!

Did Rio not make the cut? I liked her and she has so many talking heads! But I don’t see her in the photo above. Is that photo from the wrong season? Yes it was. I pulled a photo from this season and all is good, Rio is still there. I predict she will win.

Let me know if you will be watching.

“Stomp in the fashion show” crushes “next level fierceness” any day IMO. Loved your review so much I’m going to have to watch….

Loved it! I have watched every season and the new judges were there last season with Rita Ora. I love them and the new energy they bring to the show. Ashley Graham is EVERYTHING! That is a role model girls! When Erin said she was 42 with 5 kids and 3 grandkids I almost fell over! DAYUM girl you are gorgeous! And when Lyric was denied I kinda loved it. The photo shoot outfits were wild for sure, they were designed by the same guy that designs for Gaga so it makes sense lol. Seriously, this was an outstanding premier and soooo much better than the old school show. Thanks for making the time to post about it TT!

Who likes Tyra’s blonde hair? I don’t. I don’t think blonde hair looks good on women with darker skin tones.

Beyoncé, Ciara and Tina Turner are black, blonde and gorgeous. You may want to rethink your comment.

Girl. Beyonce, Tyra, T Boz and Mary J can all wipe the floor than some of these bottle blondes. Dark women who go blonde are next level fierce. Bye bye Paris, Brittney and Taylor. Specially Taylor.

Yep…I watched too ! Great re-cap TT. I was also happy to see Erin get pulled back in the competition. I hate to say it, but I had tears in my eyes on that one … those dam onions ! ;0)

Scenes from next week show this model named Stacy (who was once married to my step-brother)…waiting to see what she brings to the table….

As far as Tami Roman’s kid…I wonder if she made it that far because of who her parents are… ijs

Recap is so good TT. I like Ashley Graham. I really like the no age limit. Should be good, needed a change and that is better than no limits on height.
    On to the show.

I’m unclear, you can be cut ANYTIME? During getting dressed or in makeup? At the house?

I’m so in, I watched it last night along with the epic RHOBH… after I got home around 10:30 PM!!!

I think Drew Elliot has the potential of REALLY schooling some of these women. They talk about him on the show the WOW Report on Radio Andy as the CCO of Paper Mag.

He’s the dude that “broke the internet” with his idea to put Kim K. on the cover – the one with the champagne glass on her ass.

I like Erin a lot. She looks so great. I also like the one who sassed the panel. She’s different.

Can’t wait for the makeovers and the crying! There’s always one, lol.

I have been awaiting the new season for a while now. It has always been one of my guilty pleasure shows. It has gone through many reinventions, reboots, and revises. While it was great to see guys compete, they often were center stage for the drama. Yes there were some very hot, sexy guys on, a few of which were well Blessed Down Below. Yet so many of them either were in MEGABITCH mode, College frat/jock mode, or for the “straight” guys hook up mode. Then came last season when the show was again rebranded and moved to VH1. I enjoyed new judges Drew Elliot, Law Roach, and (sigh/groan/ugg) Rita Ora. She diminished the show for me. She seemed like she was there for a paycheck, get some US notice, and try to push her career here. It blew up in her face when one of the early final 14 contestants was booted, only to come back ala Last Chance Ktichen style return. This was when even in the context of the show that Rita disliked this girl because she hooked up with her EX Calvin Harris while they were still dating. The girls return brought an angry/ugly side out of Rita, who vowed to get her booted again, even to a point last season where the judges actually argued about who to eliminate. Tyra had to come on giving a stern kick to the ass for them to pick somebody, and in a round about way pick wisely. The girl was removed later but the damage to Rita was already done. The other judges had also voiced concern over her flippant and rude attitude, issues while filming such as lateness, one judge had even said that the road for Rita to fill Tyra’s shoes was too long and Rita would be a non factor. The primary reason Tyra came back this year
I can’t wait for the make over episode, they are always one of my favorites. Full on meltdowns because of hair cuts, full weave or extensions, make up that the girls just seem to enjoy and be thankful, those sessions with those make up and hair people aren’t cheap in any way. I love that the age restriction has been removed this season, much like previous seasons taking out height and weight restrictions. Thank You TT for doing recaps
