I’ve never been a big fan of NYE, so am enjoying a quiet night at home with the kitties, catching up on shows on my DVR. I just finished binge-watching the most recent season of the Great British Bake-Off, which is always great.

The fireworks are goin’ nuts here in suburban hell, too. I’m staying in with my dog, Bandit. She’s terrified of fireworks, so it’s Bandit & me, every NYE & July 4. Staying in is fine by me, anyway. NYE is one of those holidays, like Valentine’s Day, that’s often a letdown anyway, if one gets one’s hopes up too high. So I bought a bunch of bottles of cheap champagne + one bottle of decent champagne, for the actual countdown.
I turned CNN on, and quickly changed the channel back to a Dateline rerun. Pretty sad when you’d rather watch a murder for the second time, than a NYE celebration. But yeah, Andy was not only ruining it; he was also dominating the entire conversation. Sigh.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, TT, & FELLOW TT READERS! I, for one, am ready to kick 2017 to the curb! ?

We were saying the same thing last night! When Don Lemon is the only thing that can save the show, you know it’s bad. Andy’s and Anderson’s road show seems to be very popular, so I’m wondering if their chemistry is better on stage than on TV? There was just nothing there.
Also, how horrible was Anderson’s makeup? I figured somebody would notice how out of whack it was with the lighting and fix it during the first commercial break, but no dice.

I don’t think that was a makeup issue for Anderson… at one point, his lips looked blue. I think it is fucking ridiculous that they have to sit up there on that platform in the wind in the record breaking cold temps. It was NINE DEGREES at one point.

I just finished cooking steaks, shrimp, potatoes and onions and spinach. My hubby just came in from watching the Steelers game with his buddies and said he had chills. Oh boy! An hour and a half later, his temp is 101.9 and he’s spitting up. Nooooo! I’m donning the plastic gloves and grabbing the bleach bottle.

Home early from work & watching George Michael documentary Freedom. Lavender Epsom salt bath, jasmine scented candles & bed before 2 a.m. 2018 nurturing myself as well as I nurture others. Best of 2018 to all I cannot believe I will be 50 on June 23rd of this year. I am on old man.
Saw the Freedom documentary recently and loved but it made me sad all over again that he passed so soon.
Same, I enjoyed it but it made me so sad about his death all over again. Whitney doc made me even more angry about how much crap her family has gotten away with all these years.
I spent a lot of Christmas day watching his videos on YouTube and listening to his music. Am now trying to read the new book out by Sean Smith but just keep tearing up. I am in my 70’s but his music is timeless and everyone can relate to it.
I kept hoping he and Kenny would get back together, buy a huge ranch near Dallas so Kenny could go to the Galley every day while George stayed in his music studio and wrote music and just enjoyed his solitude. He didn’t need to tour anymore. His music would have been available to his fans online and everywhere he wanted it to be.
I haven’t watched Freedom yet. Maybe today.

Andy and Anderson were about as exciting as a pair of wet mops. Switched to ABC, and listened to Mariah.. she got through it, looked great and her children are adorable.. watching Brittany now – she looks amazing!

I think the cold really dampened the AC2 experience. Plus, I listen to Radio Andy while driving so I’ve heard pretty much every story they told at least 3 times this month. Mariah needs a reality check about the condition of her voice. Pick a song you can still sing like you could when it came out honey. And I can’t believe she had those poor kids out in that cold.
I have mortars going off since 6 today. I’ve doped my goldens ass up with Benadryl. That’s his weakness gunshots and fireworks. No duck retrieving for this fatso who looks like a damn hot dog bun he’s so fat. I’ve only spent 1 NYE in my life not at home. I was in the club drankin and dancing and woohooing. Pretty sure that’s why I don’t woohoo to this day. My Gramma (only Mama I ever had) and Grandpa we’d watch NYE on the tv then run outside and bang spoons in pots. That was it just live and wishes. I have a kiddo that needed a liver transplant by 2 weeks o so we were told by his team….Labor day and Memorial Day stay home and wait. So the big drinking holidays I sit tight. New Years is a def no for me. I’m catching up on Game of Thrones…woohoo kiddo is out husbands in California so it’s me good Cabernet…I’ve got the cornbread and black eye peas with collards ready to rock 2018. I want this to be my year of yes. Except not yes to husbands sec requests and not yes to anyone asking me to leave my introverted bubble. So it’s a maybe year which is better then my fuck office years ???.

Fireworks going off right now woke me up. I was in bed by 9pm. Turned on Andy for a minute and my boyfriend said “turn this shit off.” Andy was goofy.
Couldn’t stomach Andy either. Watched about 10 minutes – the part where Anderson said he didn’t like to be touched – and Andy’s sucky need to be the center of attention all the time got to be way too much. Did anyone else notice how his voice kept squeaking up an octave every now and then? I know it wasn’t Anderson grabbing him by the cojones (much as he’d like it), so it must have been the cold. Someone needs to tell Andy that not everyone loves him as much as he loves himself – doubt he’ll believe it. BTW, Anderson didn’t really look any more comfortable with Andy than he did with Kathy Griffin; maybe neither one of them is the man for the NYE job. I say we bring Kathy back, but who would be a good match for her? Can’t think of anyone good off the top of my head. A little under an hour to go here in CA – being my usual boring self, watching the Twilight Zone marathon, with a chihuahua on my lap and a German Shepherd by my feet. Fireworks going off in the distance. Could be a lot worse. My New Year’s resolution is to get off my fat English butt next year and actually accomplish something. Get my house back in shape, go visit my family in England, exercise more, and have all my Christmas stuff organized so that next year I’ll be able to find everything and actually decorate my home. I have an adorable young retriever. The sound of fireworks, thunder and gunshots doesn’t faze her, but God forbid I sneeze! She’ll wake up from a deep sleep and race across the house to make sure I’m still alive. Cold season almost killed her.
Lol! Fireworks don’t faze my dog either but, if he sees us blow a bubble with gum or pick up a hairbrush he runs. It’s so sad.

I had promised my 15 year old son snow tubing during his break, so tomorrow it is, with a high of 2 degrees. A promise is a promise, thinking I am sneaking a thermos of coffee & baileys to consume from from the car (hubby is driving, so no worries).
Got my pork & kraut to put in the crockpot before we leave…. a cheating can of “greens” but couldn’t find one option for black eyed peas, completely sold out, from beans in a bag, canned, & frozen! Grrrr

I went to Amsterdam when my dog was around 7 (I got him as a puppy) and boarded him in a fancy kennel with extra walks, etc. I was gone a little over 3 weeks, when I returned he was happy for the ride home, but then gave me the evil eye and proceeded to ignore me for almost a month. He was also hoarse from barking while I was gone. They can definitely hold a grudge!

Yeah Andy and Anderson really sucked. Anderson is so akward in this setting. Kathy made up for it by being really outrageous and funny. Andy is No comedian. The best parts were the cut aways to that English Richard guy and Don lemon who is always drunk lol. I found myself spending more time watching Seacrest, at least they had lots going on. Andy was a bad choice. Does CNN make Anderson do this show as a form of punishment? Lol.
I watched it for a few minutes at a time because that’s all I could stand. Andy was horrible and Anderson wasn’t much better. It was awkward and lame and off key.
Loved it when Nicole Kidman made Andy look like a bigger fool than he is when he asked her about the stupid hand clapping. Both she and Keith just looked at each other like ‘REALLY’?????
Everything was just awkward with those two. No chemistry and Andy isn’t funny and Anderson definitely needed Kathy to offset his vapid personality. God, without her, he just has nothing to say. I think CNN needs to rethink who does next years show, but I am sure they already know that. Doubt if any of TPTB got thru the night watching them either.

I had a great New Years over all, I spent the day babysitting my granddaughter, while my daughter and her husband went to an NFL game. When they got back we hauled ass up the road to see all the Rose Parade floats. My daughter lives close to where they build most of them. They are not manned, but you can stand about 2 feet from them while they are en route to Pasadena. There were some really beautiful ones this year! I went home and watched the Law & Order Special Victims Unit marathon, while taping the Steve Harvey NYE Special. One of my friends husband is a writer and helped produce the show, so I wanted to give them some ratings. I switched over at 2 mins. to midnight to watch the ball drop then watched my last Xmas movie. Got up this morning and saw the movie “The Post” with one of my friends. All in all it was a decent weekend!
The hubby and I gave up on the NYE programming and watched The Big Sick. Good indie film with Holly Hunter and Ray Romano in supporting roles. Got up early with the kiddos and cooked peas, cornbread, and a hamburger and cabbage casserole (think cheesy and tomato-y). A turtle cheesecake is in the freezer from Christmas, but I’m saving calories for my merlot later. Happy New Year, y’all, and take care.

Oh my! I tried to read everything, too tired tonight but it will happen! You people give me life! All sounds well in the TT world you’ve created for yourself and company! Happy New Year!!!
I’ve been wanting to share a story for a couple of days but I didn’t want to share before NYE had come and gone. I’m not (?) superstitious but I don’t like putting out words (into the universe) that can wait.
I’ve shared I bought my first wedding dress in SF…Maid of Honor at that wedding was from NJ. She’d gone to NYE in Times Square a few years before we were in CA so let’s say early 80’s. On the subway, after a freezing cold night, fabulous time and of course crazy fun situations…she got mugged on the subway going home. They took everything, her coat with her few bucks/ID etc in her pockets, even the boots off her feet! I know NYC was a hot mess in the early 80’s. That said there were a lot of people there, (packed in), witnesses, NOT ONE person (strangers) lifted their voice, least of all a hand. She was with numerous gf’s but they were helpless to help. She was fine physically aside from bruised and cold. It hurt her emotionally w/fears and insecurities. I absorbed a part of that from her…that’s a risk you take in friendship. I have NO personal fear of any of her above experiences happening to me. I just haven’t cared to watch or participate much in NYE in NYC since.
I’ve never forgotten her story and how it traumatized her. I can still see her there, having a once in a lifetime experience, ruined with such insult. I just prefer to not watch.
I had completely different worries and concerns last night and everyone one of those prayers where answered, and than some! Plus? The moon was amazing!

Never cared for Black Sabbath but liking the older Ozzy. Maybe because I went off the rails of the crazy train years ago. I think I saw something here about a show called The Cowboy Way. Know nothing about it but there was a movie years ago by the same name that had a great line. They were in a fancy NYC restaurant and ordered steak, when asked how they wanted it I think it was Woody Harrelson said knock it’s horns off wipe it’s nasty butt and throw it in a plate.
