By Atlanta D

The episode opens up with Quad calling Simone to discuss exactly what she feels she wants in a marriage/partner that she isn’t getting. In essence, she wants to be adored. Don’t we all? However, for these reality TV ladies, I can’t help but “adore” takes on a whole new meaning. There is a difference between being a partner, and being worshipped, and I’m not certain that any Bravolebrity recognizes that line. Some of these women definitely feel entitled! Simone discloses that their men are speaking a different language. Ain’t that the truth? .

Dr. Heavenly meets with her spiritual advisor, and seeks validation that she feels as though people see her on her journey and come at her to test her. Welcome to real life, Heavenly! The session is boring and I’m distracted by Heavenly’s wig. I’m not sure it’s a good distraction, either.

Simone gets a visit from from her sister, and confesses that her marriage is on its last legs. They’re arguing over basic things, and practically living in two seperate houses. Her sister advises kindness, without striking back at Cecil’s occasional tantrums, but poor Simone is uncertain that the love is even still there.

I’m trying not to yawn, and hoping this episode picks up the pace. Mariah introduces her friend Jamie to her new assistant, and wants to show her sincerity to newfound relationships with the ladies by inviting them to a party. Ooh, I have been given a bone!! My dog even perked up his ears when I squealed.

Jackie meets with Cecile to discuss Curtis, due to the men’s long standing friendship. Jackie admits that she is in a better place and more willing to listen to what Curtis has to say. I’m not sure what to think. She states that she has moved on a bit past her anger (you go girl, I’d be nursing that grudge till 2040 and beyond!) and is willing to listen and discuss coming back, but that her tolerance for this is only one occurrence.

The conversation moves to Simone and Cecil, and I’m baffled that Cecil admits that he does love Simone. I’m intrigued that the best chemistry on the show right now appears to be with Jackie and Cecil.

Quad and Toya are going to look at a new house, and Quad hints that this house might simply be for herself. I think she is protecting herself by getting a bolthole! Gregory calls and Quad instantly gets a dig in by stating that it will be difficult for her to make dinner, and Gregory claps back that he knew better. That’s never a good sign. Quad ends the call quickly and claims that Gregory was taking it to a bad place so she ended it before they could argue, with no self awareness of her part in that conversation. Ho hum.

After a day of looking at real estate, Quad takes Toya to go look at a new Mercedes SUV to treat herself for her birthday and promptly writes a check for 170k Must be nice! She has made this money for herself, and she can afford it, although I probably would at least tell my husband that I was doing it even if it wasn’t asking permission. It’s another example of non communication.

Heavenly wants her son to come intern with her. My attention is slipping again.

Toya’s mom comes to visit for Mother’s Day. Toya is worried that out of 365 days in a year, she and her husband are having sex 12 of them. The man is working two jobs to help them get out of debt, I might cut him some slack! I’m yawning. Seriously.

The day of the party arrives. PLEASE, can I beg for some drama at this point? Mariah tells her mom that she is the Queen of the Castle for the day. Most of the ladies are apprehensive but hopeful about Mariah’s intentions. I love that Contessa brings her nanny, whom she views in a motherly role after the loss of her own mother. Miss Renee tells it like it is! Whoo! Everyone wants to know why Mariah told them to wear yellow and white while she wears blue to stand out.

I love the decor for Mariah’s party. Yellow and white create a springtime, sunny atmosphere with butterflies. Miss Renee might have imbibed a bit much and I’m cringing. “I’m just a nanny…a nanny that tells it like it is!” Quad’s place at the table is empty. Toya shares that Quad took a trip to Miami for herself and Mariah will probably get the memo next week. Miss Renee brings attention to herself and Mariah gives her a little side eye (literally!) and Contessa looks more than slightly mortified.

Heavenly prepares to make amends to Mariah’s mom, Lucy, and expresses nervousness. She’s not sure how she will take it and hopes no brawls break out. Apparently, Miss Lucy has not been adverse to brawling in the past. Heavenly’s apology is heartfelt and Miss Lucy states that she is not in a place to forgive her. As Simone states gleefully, “Bye Felicia!” I’m amused that despite Heavenly being on her journey, her talking head reveals her making catty comments about Miss Lucy’s lack of forgiveness. She might need to meet with her spiritual advisor after the advisor watches this week’s episode.

Mariah’s speech at the end IS beautiful and brought a tear to my eye as they released the butterflies. Jackie recognizes that Mariah’s current journey is similar to that of a butterfly, so when they show the butterfly that Mariah crushes beneath her feet–is that a possible foreshadowing? One can live in hope.

Damn, Quad is such an emotional manipulator. She is completely egging Dr G on in every scene to humiliate him on camera and paint herself well for that impending divorce. 170k on the car?? Either she didn’t really get that car or it came at a huge discount. No way SHE makes enough on her own to buy that. Dog clothes that nobody buys can be that big an empire…

Quad is the worse. If she thinks her crying and complaining is going to get her sympathy, it’s not working. It’s obvious she is a manipulator trying to get sympathy from the audience to justify divorcing Dr. G.

Quad is very close the Phaedra, so the fakery is strong in her. Bird of a feather..

Lol so far Miss Renee has been the most interesting of the bunch this season! I loved Mariah’s side eye when she heard Renee getting louder. One would almost think she hasn’t been “that” person.
As for Quad purchasing that car, I’d say she did purchase it, even if it might be on a monthly payment plan. While I doubt that doggy couture goes that far, she’s got the Bravo income and made a healthy living as a pharmaceutical rep before that, plus Dr. G’s income.

I hesitate to comment on this show as I don’t really watch it. But I do know that some people in Atlanta rent those expensive cars at a discount for being seen on the show.

Exactly. She has had three different cars since the show started. Initially she had the Range Rover Sport, then she moved to the Porsche- I believe last year. Now she has the G Wagon.

I can’t stand Mariah and her shady mother. Her mother is an “in the gutter” fighter as she has shown in the past (getting involved in a physical altercation at that party) and is part of the reason Mariah puts herself on a pedestal. She has been an active participant in nasty behavior and egging Mariah on, and was fair game IMHO. Her smug refusal of Heavenly’s apology, which I did believe was heartfelt, is just another example of her nastiness.

I hesitated to say anything, as I try not to actively “trash,” anyone. I have to be honest that her mom sort of gives me the creeps, and I’m NOT referring to her stroke.
Listening to her last week egging Mariah on by stating that Quad was scared of her, blah blah blah, seeing the recaps of the fight, and her evident pleasure in denying Heavenly her forgiveness just hits me all kinds of wrong.

The only thing regarding this show to me, is it’s on my Friday night “to watch” list, moved from Sunday night “to watch” list.
It’s pretty bad this season, actually really bad. I see a lot of the dreaded “reality acting” shining through. Ugh.
But thank you for the recap. ?

Just started watching and I have a slight problem with Simone telling her son his parents may divorce, but Simone can tell Quad to keep trying and do everything. Makes zero sense how that is being handled!!
Also, if I was these men, I’d be unhappy with the way it’s playing out, seemingly without being aware of it being the show. They seem somewhat blindsided.

I caught up with the entire series- apparently prior seasons were more interesting than the current season. .Based on my investigation, Simone is reaping what she has sown- she talked to her husband in the same way she says
he is talking to her now.
    Watching prior seasons, I
    felt sorry for him. She
would yell at him in front of
    other people. Simone was
not as bad as Toya though.
    Toya has changed for the
    better in her treatment of
Eugene. Toya has embarrassed/emasculated Eugene in prior seasons.

    Quad and Mariah were
    friends, both from
Tennessee. Mariah feels used by Quad, according to my research.
    Mariah connected Quad to
the medical community, helped Quad get a drug
sales rep job and helped Quad get an apartment when Quad moved from Tennessee.
    Mariah also pitched the
    show to Bravo and
    gave Quad, along with the
original ladies, the opportunity to be on the
show. Mariah is one of the
    executive producers.
Quad is now successful in her own right, she co-hosts a local TV show in adfition other ventures.
Quad appears to be ready to move on from her husband and is setting the stage for a separation/ and or divorce.
Then, again she could be angling for her own reality show spin off ala Nene.
Quad does seem to be a hardworker.

Sorry for the long post, I have too much time on my hands. I’m lounging on my sisters sofa today, my vacation was cancelled..

rmicu thank you! Christmas orders for our products have been through the roof with orders coming in as late as December 20th, so I have had no time to watch the entire series from beginning to end. My experience with it came from catching it occasionally and seeing the flashbacks on the show. I seem to remember seeing Quad and Mariah doing an interview together somewhere, and they seemed really close then with even their eyeshadow styles matching. The closest friends make the most painful enemies, I guess. 🙁
Agree with your statement “setting the stage for divorce.” Last week she claimed Dr. G never called, this week he calls and she more than set him up. The one thing that impresses me about this show is that all of these women are strong in their own right, regardless of doctorates or not. Make no mistake about it, if Quad and Dr. G divorce, she will take him for a boatload of money in asserting that she helped helped him with his business. She will probably get it, too. Run, Dr. G! Run!

@Rmicu “According to your research”?? Everything you said regarding Mariah and Quad has been told on many prior episodes and interviews. You forgot that Quad was dating Mariah’s drug dealer cousin and came running to Mariah when he was thrown in the slammer! No shade intended to you though, I thought it was a wonderful catch up!

I like this show a lot. I feel like it’s more genuine and shows more of the actual relationships between husbands and wives than RHOA which makes I like. Dr Jackie’s cheating scandal has made all of the couples examine their relationships closely and that has caused some issues.

I’ve never really liked Quaf. I’ve always felt like she never actually had chemistry with her husband and was just lookin for her ticket in. It just didn’t smell right for me. I think that’s showing now. I love Simone and Cecil! I think it’s a real part of being empty nesters and how relationships change over time and how you deal with it. It’s the house thing that is definitely hurting them. I hope they make it. Toya is pulling through great too. I’m glad to have seen her ratchet ass grow up over these past few seasons. Lol

I am not really a Mariah fan. I think Heavenly said it best when she said that Mariah doesn’t own what she does to people. She’s quick to throw others out but not take responsibility for her own. I think that was obvious with her speech by apologizing to everyone, inviting everyone, accepting Heavenlys apology then calling her out in her speech. That’s a shit move.

And I love heavenly! Glad to see she’s growing up too! Please don’t stop recapping TT! Glad you’ve added this to your list!
