The Voice: A Winner is Crowned (And So Was A Loser, Sort of)

This is going to be short and sweet folks. Is it a full moon? Because I think that was one of the weirdest, weakest finales I’ve ever witnessed from The Voice. I think I preferred it when they had to beg famous people (or ask friends) to come perform on the show with the artists. The rest of the time they filled it with performances with almost all the artists singing together. What happened to the final four getting to pick friends from the show to come sing with them? Don’t let me harsh your mellow if you really loved it.

As I stated yesterday, really any of the four deserved the title of winner. Each one of them is destined for a career in music. Hell, I think the ones that came back to perform do as well. It is no surprise to me that the highlights of the show for me are those where Voice artists participated. What I REALLY didn’t like was the fact that I didn’t know who half the “famous” people were who came to perform. Have no idea who it was that sang with Keisha and Adam, although they did awesome. Ditto Noah Mac, but I think I probably wouldn’t know even if I was Noah’s age.

I loved seeing Norah Jones with Addison. Where has Norah been? Brooke was fierce with Sia (how the fuck does that woman walk around with that on her head?). Once I got over Billy Idol’s face (it is smoother than it was in the 80s!), I enjoyed that too. However, I think this is the third time the mic hasn’t picked up Chloe’s lower register. It didn’t even pick up on Billy as strongly as it should have. Not acceptable, guys! Hated to say it but I got antsy with Vince Gill and Red. I didn’t pay attention at all.

By far my favorite moment was when Chris Weaver as his drag persona Nedra Belle came out with other queens to sing Bang Bang, and one of the original singers, Jesse J, came out with them. The production values were nearly as high as Nedra’s hair! It was awesome; even Jennifer got out of her chair! Miley, of course, was rocking her ass off. I’m stunned her seat doesn’t have a seat belt to keep her in it during the show. I also kind of liked it because you KNOW there are some Voice watchers out there who were squirming on their couches a little.

Frankly, I think the only people who come to perform must perform with an artist, unless they are a former or future coach. I give Kelly Clarkson and Pharrell a pass, even though I have no idea what Mr. Williams was doing. Cat distracted me a little (he’s feeling a little low I think) but I didn’t care enough to rewind.

The final standings are #4 – Red, #3 – Brooke, #2 – Addison, and well deserved, #1 win was Chloe! I was surprised at Red being 4th, with the country fan base. Maybe Addison’s folk divided it up a little? After one of the “interview” segments where they also showed clips of them interacting, I really do believe that Miley and Brooke have made a connection. Miley ran up on stage with a crown for Brooke.  I hope they maintain it. I think Blake and Adam will keep in contact with their artists too, as they have in the past. Jury is out on JHud Productions.

My highlight was watching Nora Jones and Addison perform. The few brief moments that they harmonized, gave me goose bumps. I was rooting for Addison or Chloe but really hoping it would be Addison. I felt like Chloe was already well on her way to being our next “Stevie Nicks” rocker chick and probably didn’t need the boost of being a trophy winner as much as my darling little folk singer Addison, as folk music isn’t such a popular agenda. The good news for Addison is that Adam is a HUGE fan of hers and will probably play a part in promoting her after the show, particularly with the history he has of losing the sweet gal who was shot a few years ago. It hit Adam hard and cracked his self centered veneer.

Yes, Christina Grimmie’s death, I think, had an impact on him for sure. I don’t expect each coach to keep in constant contact with each and every artist, but I do believe Blake and Adam when they say stuff like that because they are certainly open to it and have with others. Blake often has past Team Blake people open for him. Sundance opened for him on several occasions this last summer, and on other days it was a woman from Season 2 (I forget her name – I don’t even think she made it to his final 3.)

I was so frustrated with the Norah Jones and Addison duet — they kept alternating back and forth while I was dying for those two voices together! As you said, the short moments they did harmonize were really beautiful and I wanted so much more of that.

I was disappointed that Addison came in second — although still a big Chloe fan — but she is so young and I’m sure she has a big career ahead, especially with Adam’s support.

I thought Addison was great. I didn’t want her to win thought. She’s too young she needs to finish school and get her drivers license and do all the teenage rites of passage. The winner spends an entire year working in the studio and making appearances and being signed to a restrictive contract. Addison needs to enjoy her high school years.

Actually, I also had the same thought about Addison’s age and perhaps too much fame and pressure. It was easy to forget how young she is because her voice and performance had incredible maturity. I didn’t realize the winner had so many commitments. She definitely should just be a teenager first. I loved her excitement about the car!

I’m a bad blogger in that I let the holidays get in the way of checking in.

Yes… there are ones that I don’t want to win sometimes despite their talent. As amazing as some of the performers are, I sometimes wish that the Voice went very conservative and only opted to audition 18 and over people.

But, some kids wouldn’t have the stereotypical experience anyway.

I will have to watch the drag queens on youtube.

I was so tired and my DVR was maxing out, so I deleted. I already knew results from spoiling from east of here, so no suspense.

I think people who vote for a coach, Blake, could have lost Chloe the win, by splitting between Red and Chloe, but obviously didn’t.

Jennifer made it clear she wanted Miley/Brooke to win, so her fans may have helped Brooke best Red.

I am sure Adam hoped to the Blame for seasons won, but not to be.

Good final four, and am happy that Chloe won!

Honestly, Monday show was so much better than Tuesday – and considering the “professionals” they had on there, that is saying something!

I have nothing to say except, that for Christmas, and, as of the last couple of days, I am declaring myself a “bravo tv” zone-free household. I will be calling my cable company later this morning, and having Bravo, deleted off my list of available stations. The level of crap is just not worth it…thanx for listening; but, at 75 years old now, just don’t have the stomach for such non-stop crap shows. Love your site though….so I can read all about stuff, just never have to watch it ever again.

Your site is great, by the way!

OK – feel good Twitter story of the day. Fans are reaching out to Red and telling him how much they liked his performances Monday and Tuesday, but they AREN’T trashing Chloe (as far as I can see). Country fans with class.

(I don’t think Red would tolerate them trashing Chloe anyway).

Oh, and TT, my “creeper” alarm to her and Blake’s duet has been quieted a bit. Chloe is 23!!! Why did I think she was 18, and just finishing high school?

My husband and I watch this on Hulu and are ultra pissed that they do not have up the finale
    Wtf…
All they had was the recap and now its like gone.
    We were very disappointed.
And although I like Chloe. I think there were others who were better. Adam for one. Brook for second red for third. Chloes voice was just very low and crackly for my taste. And she wasn’t very versitile.
