The ladies trip to New Orleans continues, and a somewhat tense trip continues to devolve. It’s apparent that Dr. Contessa, a recent addition to the cast, struggles to ignore Dr. Heavenly’s jabs at her. Dr. Contessa is still new to this cast but I predict that given a few more years with this cast and she will be throwing shade with the best of them. Heavenly is aghast at Contessa’s comment that Simone thinks that she and Dr. Contessa are a lot alike. I’m with Heavenly. Her attempts at shade are more like something a 5-year-old would find funny.
The ladies get on a bus, and Simone refuses to divulge their destination when Heavenly asks. She comments, “If these bougy bitches knew where we were going, they wouldn’t even get on the bus!” That makes me curious, as I haven’t seen to many depths to which Bravo producers won’t sink, and Lord knows that New Orleans has a lot of variety from which to choose your peccadilloes!
Turns out that they are headed on a swamp tour. The best part of the trip was when Toya misstepped coming off the bus (with a little help from the alcohol flowing on the bus, I am sure) and landed on her rump, prompting a lot of laughter. She thanks God that her mama gave her the additional butt to cushion her fall. She thanks them for not laughing at her–of course they saved it for their talking heads, and it WAS funny–but Toya’s going to have the last laugh, methinks.
Poor Dr. Jackie just about has palpitations at the mere thought of being in the uncontrolled wilderness, and looks like she is about to suffer an anxiety attack. Funnily enough, her quiet strength would have made me peg her as the last person to suffer from anxiety when a situation is beyond her control.
Toya foreshadows that she has a surprise waiting for the ladies when they get back to the hotel, and she is not certain how anyone is going to handle it. She is, of course, talking about the fact that she has invited Mariah on the trip, feeling that they cannot move forward without including her in their personal progress.
Heavenly, Quad, and Contessa go on to their own room, missing Mariah’s presence in their midst. The rest of the ladies are dumbstruck by Mariah’s appearance, and Jackie’s comment made me laugh: “Lucifer has arrived, and manifested as Mariah,” or something to that effect.
In the meantime, Contessa and Heavenly begin arguing over a small comment that Quad disclosed about her marriage and not feeling appreciated. Heavenly, with her usual lack of tact OR taste, remarks that perhaps Quad’s refusal to have a child is why Dr. G does not seem to appreciate her. This remark infuriates Contessa, who finally tells Dr. Heavenly to “shut the f** up!” Contessa is ready to pack her bags and go but Dr. Jackie and Quad talk her out of it.
In the midst of this argument, the rest of the crowd arrives, with Mariah in tow. It is apparent that everyone in the group has their own issues with Mariah. I’ll give that girl credit, she puts on one helluva an oblivious game face and brings the drama! Lots of flashbacks to each of their previous interactions, and it is apparent that everyone is still pissed, especially Quad. Quad mentions that she doesn’t “see” Mariah, but if you mention the fact that you don’t “see” someone, isn’t that an admission in itself that she does see her, and is still upset?
As everyone relives their own issues via flashbacks, the cameras cut to the husbands of the ladies, and it is obvious that they expect to have more fun without their wives being in town than they do when the ladies are present! Here comes Dr. Scott, and the men try to warn the poor newbie about what baggage his wife will bring back from her trip. This poor man has no idea of what he has yet to face by his wife joining this cast. He’s still an innocent, let him cherish his illusions a bit longer, right?
A pajama party plan is in effect, and Mariah is invited by Toya. It’s going to be held in the Lucifer Suite, and as Toya remarks, “All things go in the Lucifer Room,” when Simone wants Toya to ask Mariah her intentions to the rest of the group. The party is supposed to lift everyone up,but some of these flashbacks show that Mariah is going to have her work cut out for her if she is going to make peace with these ladies. She admits that she has issues with each and everyone of these ladies, and will approach them at a later time individually. Heavenly is willing to give her a chance because she is working on her personal journey of patience. Thee others are reluctant, and Quad makes it obvious that forgiveness won’t be coming anytime soon from her side. Jackie and Heavenly remark to themselves that this whole situation can probably be attributed to the Lucifer Room, which they feel is aptly named.
I’m new to this show–what do y’all think about Mariah? Will she be able to settle her issues with the group and become friends with them again? I’m not certain where she is coming from, but there sure appears to be a lot of history there!
