I find the situation I am going to attempt to walk you through very interesting, mostly because there is so much conflicting information. I warn you in advance it is going to be a long and twisty path, but hopefully an interesting one.
I was sent a link to Perez Hilton, (sidenote: I wonder if he sold that site or if he is just paying someone to run it these days?) where they have an exclusive story claiming that Joe Masalta, the former Navy Seal (sidenote: there is no way to verify if someone is a Navy SEAL or not; however, falsely claiming service is a crime.) who was purportedly the 19th fool to become engaged to Danielle Staub is suing her for breach of contract.
Basically, Joe claims that he was running an event for his charity, Veterans Continued Service, and Danielle agreed to do a meet and greet with the paying guests of the event. Joe claims, “Danielle breached the oral event appearance contract. I paid Danielle the 25k as an advance payment because she was being evicted. I’m suing for 15k so because suing for anything more requires an attorney and the charity can’t afford to pay those fees as there is significant loss already,” according to Perez.
That is pretty much the entire exclusive. This left me with a lot more questions than answers, so I did some poking around.
First, Veterans Continued Service is a dumb name for a charity. I started looking into that and it seems they had a website for a short time, but it no longer exists. None of the charity ratings and validation sites listed the site at all. They have a very short Facebook page with less than a dozen posts. Those posts indicate that their mission has something to do with supporting children of veterans. I wonder if Joe has kids. If so, he could potentially give the money to them, right? I have no idea if he has kids, I’m just pointing out this is shady already.
Next, I checked out the flyer for the charity event. It seems Joe was hoping to sell ten tickets to a charity event where the patrons would be partner sky diving with a Navy SEAL. According to my math, that would bring in $20,000 minus whatever the expenses for the plane, if applicable.
Does anyone see where I am going with this? He claims he paid Danielle $25,000 to appear at a charity event that at the most would raise $20,000? Why not just donate the money to the charity instead?
It’s an interesting claim that Danielle was being evicted in 2016. I wonder what she has more of, eviction notices or shady ex-fiances?
Finally, the statement that he can’t sue for the entire amount without a lawyer seems ridiculous. I Googled to see if New Jersey had a high limit in their small claims court and found that small claims court caps out at $3000 (of $5000) for security deposit cases. There is no legal reason why one would need an attorney to sue for $25,000 but not for $15,000.
Oh and Joe has set up a Go Fund Me which is even more interesting. The account was set up a week ago and has so far raised ZERO of the $50,000 requested. Here is the pitch from the site”
Veterans Continued Service, 501 c 3, organization enhances youth organizations Anti Bullying programs through the use of scuba diving certification programs.
Perez Hilton was gracious enough to release this story of Danielle A. Staub (Allias Beverly A. Maher and Danielle A. Maher) scamming Veterans Continued Service (501 c 3). Veterans Continued Service made an advance payment in the amount of $25,000 to Danielle Staub for an appearance fee at several fundraising events. Veterans Continued Service had sympathy for the scam artist, known as Danielle Staub, because she gave a brilliant performance of being a distressed single mother celebrity on the verge of being evicted from her Port Imperial Apartment at 20 Ave Grandview Two. Danielle’s scam litterally brought this organization to a stand still for a couple years while the organization regrouped. Veterans Continued Service is limiting the law suit to $15,000 because higher amounts require a different process that involves retaining an attorney. The additional costs of an attorney would only create further financial losses.
Your help will bring this veteran organization back on track with helping kids overcome bullying and prepare kids throughout the United States for having a successful happy life.
So it seems things have changed from skydiving to scuba diving. And from veterans to anti-bullying.
Directly under what is essentially an attack on Danielle Staub rather than an explanation for the need for $50,000 is a written recommendation from Joseph Patuleia, Executive Director Emeritus, of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club claiming that Joe has raised over $100,000 for their program and is a fine upstanding citizen. So why the Go Fund Me in the first place? Makes me wonder about that Boys & Girls Club.
That Danielle Staub. She sure knows how to pick ’em. This is the same guy who recorded her using racial slurs and freaking out on Joe because she thought he stole her pot.
Do you think Marty, future ex-fiance number 20 will make it down the aisle with the Danielle?
