I’m all discombobulated and feel like I have missed and episode. Okay, I am pretty sure I missed the last episode. I’ll have to watch it On Demand later. It sounds like they won the group dance last week. Can’t wait to go back and catch that.
Cheryl wants to do ballroom dancing this week. First of all the girls have no ballroom experience. Secondly, it is nationals week! What on earth is she thinking? Cheryl already has had her fill of Jill and for some reason I’ve yet to discover, Jill and Kendall were not there last week. So when the coveted nationals solos go to Nia, Kalani and Chloe, Jill goes apeshit. Especially over Chloe having a solo in nationals when she’s only been back in competitions a short time. Cheryl asks Jill if she is done bitching and then sends the moms out of the studio to get down to business.
Kalani has an ankle injury and apparently didn’t dance last week. Jill bitches constantly to the other moms about Kendall not having a solo. Christi lets Jill know that she and Holly started this team long before the cameras arrived. They are the original two.
Chloe’s dance is a dark emotional piece. Chloe uses Abby as her dark emotional place. Abby was really horrible to Chloe. She used to refuse to call Chloe by her name. It seems to have damaged Chloe. Jill seems to have convinced Cheryl to add a solo for Kendall. Nia has only been to Nationals once. The one time she was there she had a technical issue with the music and it really messed with her head. I love the flashback to young Nia dreaming of Nationals. It’s crazy how we’ve watched these girls grow up. Kalani’s ankle could screw up everything. She doesn’t seem to be able to dance on it.
Jill is pissed because Holly and Christi got new team jackets for the team and put OG on the sleeve of Nia and Chloe’s jackets. As Nia said, it’s just two letters on a jacket. Please just let me have this, I get so little. I agree completely.
So we get to Nationals and everyone is very emotional because it is their last one. I don’t know why it has to be their last one just because Abby has gone to summer camp for ten months, but everyone is a blubbering fool.
They show us Kendall’s solo, Troublemaker, first. Clearly production is still naming the solos. It looked like every other dance Kendall has ever done for Abby. It did seem to be packed with turns and had a bit of a sex appeal aspect at the end. I was unmoved. But I like Kendall. Jill and Kendall are thrilled with the performance so what do I know.
Nia’s solo had a lot of Abby Lee’s African dance moves in it that she would always give Nia mixed with a bit of ballet. There were a lot of weird arm movements in there that I found distracting, but it was good, well executed “strong black woman” sort of vibe that I liked. It was better than Kendall’s. Holly cried. Nia was happy with her performance.
Chloe’s dance was super emotional. I got chills. I cried. She wins. I should point out that there is NO ONE in the audience for these “Nationals.”
Kalani is up next. She is having shooting pains in her ankle. She is super nervous to go on. Her solo did not have a speck of Abby Lee in it. It was very contemporary and she did a fantastic job. Cheryl was thrilled. But after Kalani does her amazing performance from face to toe, she collapses back stage in agony. Also, as they are getting ready to do their group dance, Chloe gets a severe nose bleed.
Everyone gets it together long enough to do the group dance. Again. literally no one is in the audience. The group dance was great. It wasn’t really a ballroom dance at all. It was merely “salsa inspired.” I liked it and the all looked great. I realized watching it that Camryn was the only one not to get a solo and that made me feel pretty bad for her. She was hardly shown this episode. Oddly when the dance ended there were more people in the audience. I know they film the dance twice, so I don’t know why the editing was so crappy.
In solos Chloe took third place. Kendall took second place. I think Chloe’s solo was way better. NIA WON! NIA WON! NIA WON! NIA WON! OMG. I was sure they would give it to Kalani. Nia deserves this win. Oh wait Kalani was in a different age group. She tied for second place. That was kind of surprising. So all four placed. Again, I do not believe this is a real nationals. The group dance took first.
Wow, the montage at the end of these girls over the years is a lot. I know Abby must have bawled like a baby watching this in prison. Everyone one is crying. I have fall allergies.
Jill says that she knows Abby will be back to continues her empire. They do one last chant while sobbing hysterically.
But we still have two episodes left called The Final Battle Part One and Part Two.
