Just in case you forgot October is the scariest month of the year, VHI brings us an 8 episode advertisement for their reality shows masquerading as an homage to horror. Scared Famous, premiering Monday, October 23, moves 10 VH1 “stars” into a haunted house in Savannah, Georgia, to fight for $100,000 for charity. Each week they compete in horror movie themed challenges and one contestant is eliminated as a “Dead Weight.” The “famous” cast includes Tiffany “New York” Pollard, Alaska Thunderfuck, Drita D’Avanzo, Eva Marcille, Safaree “SB” Samuels, Erica Mena, Yung Joc, Don Benjamin, Miss Nikki Baby and Sky. Rap legend Redman serves as “Master of Scare-a-monies.”
Tiffany “New York” Pollard is the original queen of reality TV. She started her career on Flavor Of Love where she was such a dramatic mess she earned her own spinoff, I Love New York. Since then, she’s done her best to stay in the limelight by appearing on any reality show that will have her. Most recently, she’s appeared on Famously Single, Celebrity Big Brother, Sharknado, The Next: 15, Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn, and the reason she’s been cast on Scared Famous, her VH1 webseries Brunch with Tiffany.
Alaska Thunderfuck is the reigning RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star winner and my boo. Not only is she the dopest drag queen in existence, Alaska is also a Billboard rated singer, both as a solo act and as one-third of the AAA Girls (with fellow drag superstars Courtney Act and Willam). As she proved on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star season 2, Alaska isn’t scared of her reputation as a snake and is sure to bring the glamour.
Drita D’Avanzo was a fan favorite on VH1’s Mob Wives. She is a real spitfire and never backs down from a fight. Drita has been featured in music videos and even dropped a remix with French Montana. She has a successful cosmetic line and is eternally working on her autobiography.
Eva Marcille was the winner of the third season of America’s Next Top Model. She went on to a middling modeling and acting career and will appear on the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
VH1 calls Safaree Samuels a true musical visionary but he’s most well known for being dumped by Nicki Minaj. He currently stars on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood.
Erica Mena was discovered by winning MTV’s “Jennifer Lopez Lookalike” in 2003. She’s modeled for men’s magazines like Playboy and Sports Illustrated and starred in the original Love & Hip Hop for four seasons.
Jasiel “Yung Joc” Robinson is a multi-platinum Grammy Award-nominated artist. He joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta during it’s third season and is currently filming the 7th season. Yung Joc is also featured on the spin-off show Leave It To Stevie as the comedic wingman.
Don Benjamin was a finalist on the 2013 season of America’s Next Top Model. He now wants to be a rapper.
Miss Nikki Baby appears on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. She also has a lingerie line, Nude By Nikki.
Sky (Jakeita) Days started out in makeup before joining the VH1 series Black Ink Crew. She is also a motivational speaker/life coach to young adults, especially young ladies in dealing issues like adoption, domestic violence, and self-love.
So, do you think you’ll tune in? With this crew, it’s sure to be spooktacular.
Thank you Lady Cocotte. I’m tending to go with the recap first, I worry about this being too predictable. But after first episode and recap, willing to say yay or nay. ???
P.s. Quite a crew indeed. If nothing else, the cast may be enough to watch.
I’ll watch the first show & decide from that whether I’ll ever watch it again.
Me too
I think this will be a fun show. Super silly and I love to people scared.
I mean I love to watch people when they are scared. And surprised. I love to scare people so I am excited for this show.
I don’t know who any of these people are. So no.
Interesting cast! I’ll be watching when no one is looking!!
I love Alaska and Drita so I will give it whirl
I haven’t watched Atlanta in years, I just read re-caps. I may start again.
I didn’t realize, The Walking Dead, starts tonight! I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t believe I like a show about Zombies. My 13 yr old thinks it’s a stupid show and he stopped watching after season 2, but I like it!
So excited for TWD! I’m marathoning the last season now.
Overall the cast sound like they could all be good for some laughs. I’ll definitely be checking this out. Thanks, Lady C cause I probably wouldn’t have known about the show had you not told us.
Well i just set my DVR so we shall see if it stays on my DVR.
I watched the 1st episode….I will watch it just to look at Don’s gorgeous face. My favorite parts of the episode were:
-Drita is as nervous as a ho in church.
-New York was fun to watch, and she claims to be somewhat sensitive to paranormal activity; keeps pointing out corners where spirits supposedly are and says they whispering her ear.
-Erica Mena somehow gets two small slashes in her leg and claims it was a ghost, which freaked everyone out, especially Drita.
-Alaska, who is new to me, is EVERYTHING!!!
I watched the first one last night. I love me some New York and I always liked Eva and Drita . I may have to watch to see how Eva is in comparison to her upcoming stint on RHOA. But overall? I’d call it House of Hot Mess!
