Flipping Out: Oh My, Versailles

September 30, 2017 by tamaratattles 33 Comments

For some reason, Flipping Out did not record for me this week.  Of all the weeks for this to happen it had to happen on Versailles week. I’m going to try to recap from On Demand but it isn’t really possible to pause with Bravo On Demand so this will probably be short.

The nanny situation is starting to calm down after going through seven nannies. They seem to really like Gema. I’ve seen the titles to the next two episode and it does not last. Gema is obsessed with Gage.  Like in a sexual harassment kind of way.

Old Hollywood seriously looks like it was a tear down. That is just so much work. Jeff actually wants to move into Old Hollywood when it is finished. Just the thought of moving, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot, gives me anxiety. I am having a mild panic attack just typing that. I am not sure how these people do it. I am also irritated that I am going to have to watch all 20 minutes worth of commercials in order to watch this show.

Jeff is preparing for the trip to Versailles with Jenni, Meghan and Gage. Jeff is not charging for the consult and Gage thinks that is ridiculous. So do I. Jenni’s doctor doesn’t recommend that Jenni go to Florida because of the Zika virus. She is going, she is just going to wear long sleeves.

It’s time for Monroe’s six month checkup. She seem to have gotten through her colicky phase and she really likes Gema, the new nanny.  She did not like getting a shot.

This is the first time both dads have left Monroe. It’s a two night trip and I already predict they will come home early.  Speaking of anxiety, there was a full five-minute scene of them trying to find a place to park the car at the airport.

OMG, the crew arrives at Jackie’s house that she lives in. It is crammed full of crap. Like dead dog parts. And a collection of sex toys that require an entire room. There is also a zoo where they kill the alligators for purses and belts. I am not making any of this up. In fact, I just hit the highlights because I could not pause the tape.

Back at home, Gema is keeping Monroe fed and happy.

We finally get to Versailles. It’s so big, if the wanted to go in every room each day it would literally take them hours to do it. It’s like an entire city in a building. Jackie’s husband David has done several bathrooms without Jackie knowing. They are fugly. So are most of the finishes that they have selected. Jackie, David, and Lea Black go to dinner with the Flipping Out crew. David is very attracted to Lea. David ignores everyone to flirt with Lea the entire time.

Jeff tells David that the bathrooms are hideous. Actually, he threw Meghan under the bus and told David she said they looked like the Best Western. David’s reply was, “You’re wearing out your welcome.” David says he just used whatever was lying around in the warehouse. David seemed to lighten up and he’s willing to listen to Jeff’s ideas.

The next day they head to the warehouse where they store furniture and antiques that they want to put in the giant house. Jeff is wigging out because of all the clutter. There is millions of dollars of crap in there. It’s weird rich people hoarding.

The crew and Jackie go to lunch. Jackie tells Lea that David was very enamored with her. Then David walks in. David hits on Meghan. He’s a dirty old man. Jeff tells Jackie and David he cannot take the job. He just isn’t the right fit for Versailles. He doesn’t do gaudy.

After lunch, Meghan suggests they go to Sea World. Jeff thinks that is a fine idea. He’s depressed and needs to pet some dolphins.

Next Week: Gema starts deliberately blocking the nanny cam that the two dads check obsessively. Sigh, it was fun while it lasted.

    Excellent recap!

I was impressed with Jeff – turning down a major job – it cost him money but he was honest. I think it was the fact that he would have to deal with that huge warehouse of stuff.

I don’t know who the seigals (sp) are – their mcmansion looks out of place.

And I was surprised that Jenny went to florida – it was funny when they talked about the hazmat suit. and it was hilarious watching Gage look for a parking space at the airport! Airport shuttle is the best!

    Thanks for the recap Tamara

There’s a really interesting documentary or movie about the Siegels. Was when the daughter was I believe 16 or so, so I think it’s called “The Queen of Versailles”. Yep, googled, Documentary. I liked it.

The Siegels are the owners of the Westgate Timeshare Resorts. They ripped off hundreds of thousands of people to get the money to buy all that junk.

Those bathrooms were terrible. I remember on the Queen of Versailles doc that Jackie said David had ordered $5m of marble from China and they didn’t even know what would turn up, and they’d been paying for warehouse space to store it for years – I guess that’s what they used. They should have left it in the warehouse…..

I don’t blame the nanny for being obsessed with Gage. Not one bit lol!

Thanks for asking! I went to survey the damage in Miami and now I’m back in London for the next month or so – we have lots of expensive landscaping to put right, but it’s really just cosmetic stuff. We were so incredibly lucky compared to the folks in the Keys, they’ve got a long road ahead to get back to “normal” down there I think. I hope the tourists still go down to Key West, because their $ has never been needed so badly!

Versailles? The grant stables were finer than this abomination of architecture. Fools Folly is a fine example of grandiose gauche.

A couple of good things. The baby actually smiled and calmed down a bit. So happy that we shall not have to see any more of the Versailles shit show. I do not get the Gage attraction. To each their own, right?

I like Gage, I think he is good looking with a really lovely warm smile – and he clearly has a great sense of humour.

However I don’t understand the Nanny’s obsession – he is clearly gay and with Gage – no hope there honey! It’s also sooo unprofessional. Gemma, get a grip.

Admire the view, love the baby and do your job. I’m sorry it looks like it goes to crap as Monroe has looked happier and therefore so do Jeff and Gage.

I’m glad Jeff made it out of Versailles without selling his soul. That couple would have ripped him off and there are probably more than 10 liens on the property. Why build million dollar mansions and insert cheap products/fixtures/designs? And that warehouse full of “antiques”…light a match and be done.

It is nice to see Monroe improve and now Gage will be able to sleep too.

Nice to see a less bitchy side of Jeff this week. The baby is absolutely gorgeous and seems to have settled down, although I wish (despite the upcoming titles) that the nanny would last. She is a little creepy where Gage is concerned though, especially with it being blatantly obvious that he’s with Jeff, who is most definitely another man. Still, it can’t be good for Monroe to have a constant shuffling of people who take care of her – a baby needs constancy and security. So glad Jeff turned down Versailles – those people are certifiably insane, as well as being tackiness personified – totally devoid of any class. I guess there is such a thing as too much money LOL. They would have sucked him dry emotionally and there’s no way he could have lasted for the years and years the project would have taken. Smart move, Jeff. By the way, regarding the prior episode where it showed him yelling at a neighbor for parking in front of his gate at the new place, I was really surprised to see that he would be living in a home where there was street parking right outside his entrance. It seemed like he always wanted a little more privacy than that. I’d be really interested to see an aerial view of the place so I could see it in its entirety, but that’s not going to happen.

Certain women enjoy flirting with gay men, because it is fun and not going to go anywhere. Don’t ask me how I know this.

HOWEVER if said hot gay man is your boss, you should be careful not to cross the line. When Gage said she physically touched him, that was a reason to fire her right away. The blocking the nanny cam means she DEFINITELY has to go no matter how good she is with the baby.

Most areas in Hollywood (unless mansion) do not have extra land for long driveways or extra street parking. The older homes before the 50’s had smaller driveways/garages which many of those have been converted into yard space and extra living space.

Monroe is so cute. There are those women out there who still believe all a gay man needs to be straight is time with them. They are certain their sexual prowess is all the young gay man needs to be straight. (sickening)

I wanted to see Jeff and the Siegel’s work together for my entertainment. After seeing that warehouse of auction crap I understood Jeff could not work with them. Candi Spelling’s warehouse ( came to mind. She had it temperature controlled, 24 hour video security, each pallet or ? was # and labeled so she could find anything. She still had problems.
They need to hire someone to get in there to catalogue what they have. Candi had sets & sets of vintage luggage, I wanted a set so badly. Most was auctioned off.
Im done rattling on and on.

Jeff could have worked with Candy. She knew what she wanted, and while it may have been formal in parts, it was organized as fuck znd she knew what she had.

I did not get that impression when she said it had been 10 years since she purchased some of the items and could not remember them [email protected]
        .
She might know what she wants, it doesn’t mean Jeff would have done it. I think that was a problem he saw.

Ooops… no, Jackie probably didn’t know what was purchased last week. Candy Spelling however, could see a picture of something she bought for the mansion 20 years ago and probably remember when, where, and why. Candy was organized beyond belief!

My biggest problem with the Siegle’s is the dismally low amount of money they donate to charitable causes. Know that they are uber wealthy people. Last year the Westgate Foundation bragged that hey’d broken previous year’s records because they donated and granted more than $1.2 million to various causes in 2016. That’s it! $1.2 million. They formed another foundation to memorialize their daughter’s death which brings awareness to the growing problem of drug overdoses in this country. Disappointingly, so far that charitable endeavor has amounted to fancy fundraisers whereupon their wealthy friends win cheap bids and take home deeply discounted cruises, vehicles and jewelry. It’s just not right. I have nothing else to say about them. They don’t deserve my words.

Thanks for asking, and you can tell your friend that we are actively charitable. In an average year we donate 15% of our personal income, and another 10% of our business income to a variety of charities. Trust and believe that Westgate Resorts is not donating 10 percent of their annual income to charity. As to what the Siegle’s donate personally, I don’t know, but I think it’s pretty obvious by the amount of auction items they’ve hoarded in that warehouse that they could stop bidding for crap and start putting those funds toward those in need. By the way, if you want to know something, why don’t you ask for yourself? Big boys don’t have to hide behind others.

I was ready to quit one job..because of something … I thought was a set up by my boss. I told him never again would I ever put up with it!.

Jeff is not that type of boss.. but he should have said something! Meghan was a good sport and took the creeper for the team. Glad Jeff declined the job.

I am thrilled that our girl Monroe seems to be over the colicky stage, and she is a smiley, happy pumpkin pie! Both dads seem much happier.

You all know Mr. OCD about lost it in that hodpodge of mess! Monroe is adorable and is now happy as can be, so happy for for the whole family and especially her Daddys. I look forward to the day she comes running in the house from school to show them a picture she drew!
