I recently did a blind item reveal on the financial problems of JD Madison and also shared that Elizabeth had quietly filed for divorce this summer. In that blind I pointed out, “It is not a secret to anyone on the show that husband cheats, likes to drink in the local bars, and often has a little something extra in his pocket to enhance the evening. He goes missing for days at a time. His behavior has effected not only his marriage but his current business. The streets have been talking for a long time and it is becoming increasing difficult for the husband to get the financing he currently needs to bail out the latest business.”
There were people emailing me trying to tell me that the bar was doing great business and that they were just moving to another location. For one thing, I knew better, and even for the people who believed this, successful restaurants do not move from one location to another unless they have a location to move to. They don’t tell the waitstaff they are out of work. They don’t stop paying their vendors. That situation only occurs when the owner spends the money on hookers and blow instead of handling his business. The statement JD put out that said the ownership of the building had changed and they were unable to get a renewal on their lease. That was all bullshit. You don’t move a restaurant six months after you renovated the place and reopened it. They were evicted.
According to the Post and Courier, the owners of the building that housed the bar filed suit in U.S. Circuit Court to recoup $163,233 in unpaid rent and late fees. It seems the last time they paid rent was at the beginning of April just after the bar opened. The eviction process seems to have started in June. Yet this month JD claimed that his money was delayed due to Hurricane Irma as he was trying to negotiate for a smaller space in the building according to the court filing. That was also bullshit.
Currently, vendors are lining up for past due payments as well. A spokesman has assured no vendor will go unpaid. I’m gonna call bullshit on that as well.
Reviews online are polarizing. The very positive ones all seem to a follow a similar format and list lots of weird details. The less favorable ones all mention extremely bad service and over priced food.
My sources have also indicated that JD went through the majority of the money Elizabeth had (an inheritance if I recall correctly). This is a huge mess that JD has made. And sadly, Elizabeth will pay the consequences as well.
