Well, boys and squirrels, the time has come to say goodbye to our old Kentucky home. I am pretty much the only person on the planet who enjoyed this little season. It was summer fluff in a time when I needed some summer fluff. I will however not miss hearing Jax deliver the line, “Britanny is losing her spark” over and over.
I am glad that Jax was respectful to Mamaw for the most part, the entire season. These two seem to have bonded over the course of filming. I trust Mamaw’s instincts. Mamaw says that Britanny is a whole lot like her and if these two stay together, Brittany will be the boss. I agree. But only if Britanny stops bawling during every argument. Sometimes you need to listen to Abby Lee and save your tears for your pillow.
It the last night in Kentucky for our star-crossed lovers and they are going out to eat with all of Brittany’s family for one final get together before they leave the next day. Jax is dying to get home, and doesn’t exactly make Brittany happy. I think Brittany would love for Jax to settle down with her in Kentucky. I don’t think that is as impossible as most people think. Jax has talked a lot about moving back to Florida and becoming a fire fighter after Vanderpump Rules ends. And it has to end right? Seriously, how much longer can these people work at SUR and argue with each other as if they are twenty years old?
The old timey steak house of course has lamb fries, aka deep fried lamb testicles. Jax tried them and liked them. Brittany likes them too. Someone asked Jax if they are coming back for Christmas. Jax says they may spilt the time between Kentucky and Florida because he hasn’t been home for Christmas in two years. I believe that is what happened last Christmas. I do recall them being in Florida with his family for sure and I think they swang by Kentucky first. I could be wrong. Then we flash back to Jax telling Mamaw that he would be back for Christmas. Brittany tells us in a talking head that Jax frequently says things and then later denies he said it. Yep, this is a pattern with Jax and I don’t think it is scripted. I think Jax is generally a poor liar who will say whatever he feels the situation calls for, and then deny that he said anything at all. I think he genuinely forgets he said it because he didn’t mean it.
Mamaw seemed to genuinely enjoy Jax at least according to the montage of their bonding we are shown. Their bond seemed a lot more real than his bond with Tan Mom which seemed more like a groupie situation. Mamaw says she likes being Jax’s sidechick. Things are going just great! You know what that means…
While Jax goes to the bathroom, Brittany’s sister gets into Tan Mom’s ear about the fight Jax and Brittany had earlier. This totally violates sister code. She can wait until Brittany leaves to fill her in. Why ruin sweet tea and lamb balls to rehash a fight they seem to have moved past?
After dinner everyone moves over to the bar, and Mamaw goes home to get some rest. The shots begin. This is never good. Jax’s dad tells Jax he is not a hundred percent down with the relationship. He says that Jax is going to have to prove himself over time. Jax says there is no woman on earth that could put up with him the way Brittany does. These are not the kind of words a father wants to hear.
Everyone heads home except for Jax, Brittany and her two best friends. Brittany wants another shot. Before they take their shot, Brittany asks Jax to apologize to her best friend for comments he made to her previously. Jax, who is several shots in, once again doesn’t think he has anything to apologize for and says he wants to just drink the shot and get out of there. Brittany starts a toast to her best friends and Jax knocks his back in the middle of the toast with a nice loud, “Goodbye, Kentucky!” tacked on for good measure. Then he asks for another shot.
Cue the baleful sound track and the black screen with the white words…12 hours later. This seems bad.
It is the last day in Kentucky at 9 am and Jax never made it home from the bar. Brittany leaves him a voice mail saying it is time for the dedication of Papaw’s gazebo. Clearly, Jax is passed out somewhere. Brittany made the call sitting on the toilet in the bathroom with the lid down. Why? Was she trying to hide from the cameras?
Apparently they left Hall’s Restaurant to go to a bar. When Brittany tells Tan Mom about Jax’s drunken behavior, Tan Mom is incredulous that Brittany left Jax in town where apparently production put him in a hotel. Brittany feels like Tan Mom is always on Jax’s side.
Jax eventually arrives back on the farm. He is pissed. He feels like he is choosing her family over him. Of course she is you idiot! You are being disrespectful to her friends and family. He’s pissed because her friend Cara said her life was better in Kentucky before she met Jax. In his talking head he says that if she thinks hanging out in Kentucky with toothless people with tons of kids is better, she’s delusional. Brittany tells Jax that she came into his life and worked hard to accept his friends (and ex girlfriends) but he thinks he is better than her sister and her friends. A huge fight breaks out and Tan Mom had a ringside seat to the whole thing. She does seem to be siding with Jax. Again.
Jax storms off and is intercepted by Mamaw who tells him she wants to start the memorial ceremony. Jax follows Mamaw to the gazebo where the family cries and Jax feels uncomfortable. Afterward, Mamaw tells Jax goodbye and that she is praying for him. Everyone leaves Brittany and Jax to talk alone. Jax refuses to take any responsibility for his behavior. Brittany says she is going to stay in Kentucky for a few more days. Jax goes home alone.
Ah but don’t you worry your pretty little heads about it, y’all. The star-crossed lovers are still a couple and have been filming Vanderpump Rules together and doing joint appearances. I have a feeling they have been engaged for quite some time. This show was filmed almost a year ago. Tune into Vanderpump Rules, premiering soon for the makeup sex. Thanks for watching this season with me! And thanks to Lady C for the recaps until she. just. could. not. Bless her heart.
