I probably should have put up a discussion post earlier. I just now thought about it. I am going to go recap Shahs of Sunset and then start my taped Emmys and miss all the commercials.
In the meantime, I hope you guys will talk amongst yourself in comment. I’ll join you in an hour or so.
Cheers!
It’s too political, although the Sean Spicer cameo was pretty f’n awesome.
Agreed!
Lmao who’s the person talking after the winner is announced? His voice is hilarious ?
The announcer is so ghetto and shady lol
Ghetto????????????? seriously?
I meant it in a joking way, please stop reading so deeply into it.
I liked the announcer, kept the energy up and filled the void where needed. Cool Guy.
I did the Google thing and it is a guy named Jermaine Fowler – he’s on CBS’ Superior Donuts. (I think that got cancelled).
Some of his shit fell flat.
My husband walked by where I watch TV just in time to see Jane Fonda. He is a Vietnam vet and considers her a traitor. When he heard what she said it started him on a rant about her. He said everyone has a right to disagree and strongly with the President but respect the office . Now I can’t hear the TV anymore because my husband is retelling Jane singing with the enemy and turning over the notes from the POW’s to the enemy. He is not alone in how he feels. So the Emmy’s just got real political at my house.
I agree with your husband Marsha. I lived through that time as well, and in my opinion she is a traitor. Didn’t even watch. Completely sick of all the political stuff. No one has any respect for anything anymore.
Totally disagree with Brenda and MMM, I lived through that time and in my opinion Jane Fonda is not a traitor.
Fonda called the POWs “hypocrites and liars” about their punishment, and this after meeting at least one of them that was down to 80 pounds when he met her. She said they were treated well. Don’t we all know that isn’t true? That’s not the worst of what she did, but it’s enough.
I am just getting started and it is already too political. Oh Here comes Sean Spicer. THAT IS THE REAL SEAN SPICER!
Jackie Hoffman was ROBBED!
And who is doing the announcing on this show? Was a minimal 8th grade reading level not part of the job description?
Totally agree. I turned it off to watch local news.
Feud was great but BLL was amazing. I disagree though Mamacita was a character I enjoyed.
I don’t like that Jackie Hoffman tweeted that of course Laura Dern won because both of her parents are famous and part of Hollywood.
That may be true, but Laura Dern is a very good actress. I haven’t even seen either of their performances, but still. (Besides, more of the younger voters aren’t even going to know who the hell Bruce Dern or Diane Ladd are… They’ll know Laura from the first Jurassic Park, maybe…
Hoffman was just goofing. She wrote a couple of tweets that are funny (bad taste but funny). She tweeted that Dern ran a child porn ring and another one that she looted art from Nazi victims. People took it too seriously.
Agree! It was extremely annoying to listen to, and pointless.
Mamacita was robbed.
Way to political, I turned it off. I get enough hate speech from the news.
Colbert – amazing! The “gift for Dolly Parton” bit was awesome!
Spicey – gotta admire the sense of humor and the crowd reaction was incredible
Announcer – UGH. He is awful.
I keep thinking the announcer is someone we know.
Oh they just showed him, His name is Jermaine Fowler and he is on a CBS sitcom called Superior Donuts. Everyone is talking about how bad he is.
I literally can’t understand a word he is saying.
Nicole Kidman just drones ON AND ON AND ON AND ON….Twice!
Deservedly so. Her win was epic and anyone else getting the win would’ve been a massive upset.
Sterling K. Brown is everything.
Wait, what the hell did they do to his speech??? That was disgraceful. Why didn’t they do that to Nicole Kidman who just blathered about nothing. Sterling’s speech was awesome.
They were going to run out of time… this is one of those ones where it HAD to start again at 8 PM. They were totally running out of time.
Oprah even said the nominees fast at the end for the last category. It is too bad that they didn’t do it with Nicole – I think they were waiting for her to say something a little more eloquent and profound. It is pretty cool that she and Reese Witherspoon did this project together behind the scenes as well as acted. (Didn’t they produce it?)
If you go back, he actually said a lot already; it is just that his speech was great and Kidman’s was boring.
I refused to watch. If all you have is jokes to make fun of the President then you have no talent. Just people giving awards to themselves. I was watching Shahs anyway lol
Possibly respect should start at the top and not do GIF’s with golf balls.
When he acts his age possibly he will get the respect he craves.
TT, I agree too political later hugs
but I do like the announcer.
Acting his age lol Nothing like writing a book and blaming everyone else. I also know the ratings slipped lower from last years. So keep up the good work Emmy’s and the people will watch other programming.
…Nothing like writing a book and blaming everyone else…
Nothing like mischaracterizing the contents of a book which you clearly haven’t read and know nothing about.
Where I come from, the ability to and the accomplishment of writing a book is something to be celebrated. Of course, we don’t admire ignorance and wear it like a badge like those who…I don’t know…don’t read books and still talk shit about them anyway.
I agree Calipatti. Politics aside, the man demonstrates zero respect, class, or dignity in his character or office. If he wants to be treated respectfully and taken more seriously, he should behave as such.
I’m having a brain malfunction seeing Shae agree with CaliPatti.
lmao. I think I’ve had several brain malfunctions lately
I don’t think jokes about the President were “all anybody has”, but damn, it is very hard to avoid. Giant elephant in the room type thing. Not even Palin was better comedy gold. You could not write more outrageous material than Donald provides in actual reality.
And while not getting too political, trump is the last person to afford respect to anyone, you can’t really gripe about people taking shots at a guy who tweets nonsense and insults all day long, and responds to literally every slight, no matter how petty or who from. He gets what he gives.
…Just people giving awards to themselves…
Yes, the Emmys are a professional conclave. Kind of the whole entire point.
Totally disagree with Brenda and MMM, I lived through that time and in my opinion Jane Fonda is not a traitor.
I saw the handmaid’s tale swept up quite a few awards. I read the book and honestly wasn’t that thrilled by it, I was going to pass on the tv adaptation, but there must be something to it if it did this well.
Plus I love Elizabeth Moss, so I will most likely give it a shot.
Think O read the 20 or 30 years ago if itstge one Imtjinking about and enjoyed it. I read so much it’s difficult to remember but I do remember this story.
I could not see the book adapting to tv without leaving out major scenes. Think Iwill give it a watch now.
Thank you for your support on previous comment. Personally it’s not a party affiliation and I gave him a chance. First President that will stand there and lie, no one is surprised when the lie is proven. It’s accepted. /smh
I’m done with comments on this subject. I had faith in my fellow Americans that they would recognize the big oops we all made. Yes both sides.
That is my biggest sadness. It’s ok to be caught up in a movement that we can’t see what’s real. Once your eyes have been opened, it’s standing in front of you and you refuse to look, this is going to be on you.
The best minds say it will take 50 years or two generations to repair the damage that will be done.
TT hugs again to you. I’ll be back in a few weeks. Take care all.
