Kyle Richards Has Another TV Series Loosely Based On Her Life In the Works

Glass Houses is a drama centered on  Anisa Shattenkirk-Glass, who opens her own real estate that directly competes for the Beverly Hills luxury real estate clients of her former employer who happens to be her mother-in-law. That doesn’t sound like Kyle at all. It sounds like Maurico. Anisa’s mother-in-law, Dahlia dominates the high end market in town and Anisa is taking on the family matriarch while trying to drawn in her former clients and keep them happy.

Yep, still confused about how this is supposedly about Kyle when it is totally about Maurico. Mauricio learned the ropes at his father in law’s company, Hilton & Highland and then took his clients with him and opened up The Agency.  This is why Mauricio and two of Kyle’s daughters were not invited to Nicky Hilton’s wedding. Kathy was furious with Mauricio and by extension Kyle and Mauricio’s oldest daughters. Portia got a too young to know any better pass and Kyle’s eldest daughter was in the wedding and is not Mauricio’s biological daughter. It was a huge scandal that will make for a great TV show.

Laughing all the way to the bank…

Another weird thing is that NBCUniversal and another production company,Working Title, are producing the show, but it will air on ABC.  The show will be written and produced by Leonard Dick who was a writer and producer for The Good Wife, so that sounds very positive.  Kyle will be an executive producer.

The show was just picked up so no casting has happened yet.

Kyle’s other show American Woman should be in post production by now. It is was supposed to have a 2017 start date. This show is a comedy starring Alicia Silverstone as Bonnie, a kooky mom trying to raise two daughters on her own in the wake of a divorce.  Bonnie relies on her two best friends Kathleen and Diana help her on her path to becoming a strong independent woman.

I don’t get this either, is Kyle supposed to be Bonnie? Or one of the two daughters? Also confusing is it was on TVLand and then moved to Spike. Spike is apparently rebranding as Paramount Network in January. It looks like American Woman might have a January debut as part of the rebranding. Maybe.

Am I alone in my confusion about these shows? I am very happy for Kyle though. Who has two shows loosely based on their lives on two different networks back to back. She’s killing it in Hollywood.

I agree TT the real estate show is based on what happened between Mauricio & Rick Hilton (and the families).

From an interview I saw. months ago I remember Kyle saying her character was one of the daughters & the ‘mother’ in the series was based off of her own mother.

Ummm I replied to your email last night & NOTHING!!! I’m still waiting Lucy ?

I’m with MariettaMommy. I distinctly remember the Hilton & Hyland scandal when Mauricio left and started The Agency and all the shit that it started. My Dad was a business owner in a field where you show the people the ropes (which took a few years, as is was a specific, detailed industry) and they either became star employees and stayed or went to see if the grass was greener on the other side. Regardless, when someone would leave for a competitor my Dad would always wish them well and leave the door open for them to come back. I worked there, too and asked my Dad why it didn’t piss him off when it took years to train someone if they left? And his response and attitude, clearly NOT Rick Hilton’s was that “who was he to block someone who felt they were trying to better their self?” And that blew my mind. Clearly, Mauricio didn’t like the way something or things were done and thought he could do it better on his own. Evidently he was correct! But as much money as is in that family, why would the Hilton’s not wish their FAMILY well? And to snub the 2 middle daughters for Nikki’s wedding is hurting no one but those 2 girls, who are guilty of nothing.

Sorry for the book, I, too, saw the interview about the show being based on Kyle’s Mom and her kookiness and trying to raise daughters in Hollywood as a single Mom.

I don’t comment, much, TT but NEVER miss a post. Even watching one of the shows we both follow, during different scenes, I wonder what I’ll be reading later that evening!!

      Happy Weekend, Girl!!

Sounds like American Woman is based on her Mom’s story perhaps, since I’m guessing in looking to appease her sister Kathy should couldn’t make the story exactly parallel their life story; and the other as you say clearly based on Mauricio’s story with her family.

    Interesting.

Last season on RHBH Kyle explained that it was based on her mother, and was being set in the era in which she and Kim were little girls. I can’t remember if they were getting into the whole stage mom aspect.

I guess Mauricio crossed his brother-in-law, not FIL, but I can see why the general set-up of Kyle’s touchy family dynamic is the basis of the show.

I assume they just turned “Mauricio” into a woman because it will be geared to women, and the BIL of a spouse into a parent, because that’s soapier.

It mirror’s the Umansky’s experiences with the Hilton’s except they changed the relationships (brother in law instead of father in law-etc) between some of the characters. It’s a crazy family. You’d think the HIlton’s wouldn’t be too happy about the show.
I saw an Instagram with Kyle and Nicki Hilton a week ago, so she’s talking to some of the family.

Yeah, I can’t imagine that a show about how my (half) sister’s husband left my husband’s business only to build a more successful one and take most of the client base with him, is going to sit well with Kathy.

American Woman is Kyle’s story. Also, Mauricio’s father in law is not one of the Hiltons. Kyle and Kathy Hilton do not share the same dad.

Tamara, forgive me for posting this here. I don’t know how else to get a message to you.
Today in St. Louis , the judge will hand down his verdict in the Police Officer Jason Stockley first-degree murder trial in the shooting death of Anthony Smith. He’s accused of executing the black motorist. There’s video footage of the cop saying he’s going to kill him and it shows him throwing a gun into the man’s car.
Protesters from around the country are coming here and promising to make the protests in Ferguson look like child’s play.
Please send peaceful thoughts and prayers to St. Louis. Thank you.
(I understand if I get sent to the WLS for posting this under these comments.)

I lived in St Louis City for 10 years from age 19-29. In past 20 yrs, I’ve resided in 5 states and 3 countries, STL was the longest I stayed in one spot…I’m 36 now, and consider the Southside one of my “hometowns” I am heartbroken by the verdict and it’s impact on the community. Praying for you and for peace.

After reading this, it occurred to me that Kyle, not Bethanny Frankel has profited the most financially out of the housewives franchise. Between Mauricio’s worldwide luxury real estate domination and her producing career, they seem to be doing fantastic.

    Good for Kyle!

TVLand and Spike are both owned by Viacom, so it all stays in the family. For Kyle its even better – Viacom wants to set Paramount Network as a broad, premium-entertainment network. Thats why they also moved for example Shannara Chronicles to Spike from MTV (also owned by Viacom).

So with American Woman there is nothing fishy, just a really nice upgrade 🙂
