Can We Talk About Masterchef Tonight?

September 6, 2017 by tamaratattles 26 Comments

There just isn’t much to talk about lately on the Entertainment front. I’ve noticed that Masterchef has been trending on Twitter the past few weeks. Mostly because no one can believe Jeff hasn’t been eliminated yet. Is tonight the night he finally goes? They are pushing out two episodes at at time lately so the show is two hours long. I suppose they need to burn them up before the fall slate begins. Are you watching?

Good Grief. Jeff was in the top three for the first challenge.  I love that Dino won. I also love that he gave Jeff the hardest type of pasta to make in the elimination challenge. I would lose this challenge. I have no idea how to make pasta.  Gabriel goes home and everyone is crying. And then Chef Ramsey says he is going to give Gabriel a full ride to culinary school, and he going to personally take care of his parents. Gabriel said if he won he was going to put his parents in a decent home and pay for culinary school. So basically, he won. He’s just leaving tonight. Everyone cried more. Gordon Ramsey seems to think he is a tremendous talent who we will be hearing more from in the future. Wow, not to be outdone, Chef Aaron Sanchez says that he has a job for him in his New Orleans restaurant. Gabriel, who is 19, is not going back to work in a fast food restaurant and his parents will be getting some help from Chef Ramsey. This has never happened before in all eight seasons.

Jeff makes top six.

In the second episode we have a viewer discretion warning. What is that all about? The final six have a team challenge, one led by Eboni and the other by Jason. Eboni has Jeff and Cate on her team. Jason has Yachecia  and Dino. I think Jason’s team will win. They both have the same menu and it is very complicated. Jason’s team won. Can we finally send Jeff home? Eboni is a straight up bitch to Jeff. That’s unnecessary.

Eboni, Cate and Jeff have a pressure test to make a chocolate souffle. Eboni and Cate are very confident about the souffle.  But Jeff is nervous. Eboni is trash talking a lot. I have a feeling she is going home.

By the way, Yachecia went home and then came back one week. I missed how that happened exactly. Anyone know?

Everyone’s souffle looks good. It’s a nailbiter. Eboni’s rose a bit unevenly. She may be in trouble but each judge tasted a different souffle and they all said they were great. It’s all coming down to the height of the souffle. Jeff had the best one. WOW! Cate goes home. From a visual standpoint Eboni’s was the most uneven. Actually, they decided to let all three of them go through. No one was eliminated because they all did so great.

Jeff lives to cook another day. Is anyone watching this with me?

Eboni was simply abusive and emasculating to Jeff. Truly ugly. I can take some over-confidence and arrogance, but that was just a bad look.

I think Jeff should have been gone weeks ago. But I wanted Eboni out TO NIGHT after her behavior. And her souffle didn’t rise properly. It was uneven.

That said I do think she is the better chef, so I see why they kept them all.

Well you said what I was going to say..wanted Jeff gone already, but tonight, I was hoping for Eboni.

Gordon Ramsay is a generous guy when he sees talent and eagerness to learn.

He has sent others to training, or hired some. For sure on Hell’s Kitchen, but I thought on Masterchef as well.

I suspect they all taste all three dishes, just don’t show it.

I love Masterchef, but love Masterchef Junior even more ?

The team challenge is just beginning here. Wow it was cool seeing Chef Gordon and Chef Sanchez step up how they did. Heartwarming.
I’ve said many times I worked in restaurants and they were overall some of the best people I’ve ever known.
Not sure Im going to watch the team challenge, I avoid conflict, overly sensitive lately.

Gabriel getting to go to culinary school was just great. Plus a job. It was sweet how all the other chefs were pulling for him. Yachecia was on the block with the kid and she burst into tears and said OH NO! When Gabriel was eliminated.

I missed Yachecia leaving too. When did that happen? Jeff just won’t leave and despite how rude Eboni was, she was right. How is he still there?

I distinctly remember Yachecia leaving and then the next week she was back. Eboni cried and everything. Then Eboni and Yachecia had a big conflict because too many strong black women on a team. That is why Eboni picked Jeff over Yachecia tonight.

Thanks y’all for talking Masterchef with me. Y’all rock.

She didn’t leave. She and the cowboy, can’t think of his name now…older guy who had had at stroke were in a head to head pressure challenge when they went to Vegas. The episode ended on a cliff hanger, and they didn;t show who came back until the following week and it was Yasheika.

YW…and to add, I hope nasty Eboni and melt down Jeff leave next. Although, I have a feeling the finale will be between Eboni and the blonde girl…sorry, I am terrible with names. Jeff should have gone home 3 episode ago for his complete melt downs and Eboni is just unlikeable. I’d like to see any of them win, but those two. The Asian guy may be in the finale as well. I like crazy Dino, but I doubt he makes it to the finale.

FYI I have been wanting organic black pepper. I found some really cool black organic pepper in the grinder but I wanted it in the shaker. I did not find it by there is a WF kind that I bought the other day I poured some out and some more of the McCormick and looked at them side by side and the McCormick was really gray and the WF brand was black. Just an FYI.

You are talking about regular black pepper from pepoercirns? I know black peppercorns vary in shades of black that might account for lighter color.
Peppercorns grow easily so I doubt any sprays are used. They are picked green and very little processing is done to the peppercorn to produce black/white ground pepper so I’m uncertain why I’d spend more for organic. I don’t use much pepper though. Amazon sells organic black pepper.

If you really enjoy pepper why not buy whole and grind your own. I’ve some in a grinder an just checked them out. They were all sorts of different colors of black. I tossed out, very old. Peppercorns do fade and lose some of it’s kick with age.

Still watching on the west coast.

What woman uses “acting like a girl” as an insult? Jeff is a nightmare, but Eboni complaining about his unwillingness to take instruction? She’s not exactly a team player. I can’t wait for her to leave. I love Dino and Jason. Cate looks so much like Anna Kendrick that it’s distracting.

I balled my eyes out over Gabriel leaving. It was definitely one of the most heartwarming eliminations ever on the show.

I love Masterchef but I’m slowly turning myself away from the US version and sticking with the Australian version instead. The US version has too much drama between the contestants in it (especially for a show that’s meant to be a competition) and let’s not get started on how rude they all seem to be (on the show, at least). I watch the Australian version mainly because of how supportive and nurturing the judges are, and also for the camaraderie between the contestants (also the fact that most of their dishes look better than the US contestants’).

But I do agree that Jeff should’ve been sent home weeks ago for his attitude alone. Plus, Eboni getting in Jeff’s face is very annoying.

Thanksgiving will be here soon. There is one master chef that comes to mind. She who will not be named. Code number sixth six. It would be a nice gesture to share that menu. Pavlovian response to her posts. Gotta go my supper bell’s ringing.

Nevermind Eboni’s attitude….what is up with Dino always bowing like a Chinese person whenever he thanks the judges? I find it very irritating. I do love this show though. I watch it faithfully. I always wonder what they do with all the leftovers? I hope they are not throwing good food away. If that was the case I would be TOTALLY turned off from watching.

Dino’s mother looked Asian. I think he is half Italian and half Asian.
